Bubble Lens Problem - please help!
justjoseph63 replied to gwood1234's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I had the exact same problem, Gareth. Not just the headaches but a lot of distortion as well, making it difficult to maneuver around safely. I ended up having to change back to the flat lenses. -
Excellent to know that we have another HWT coming soon!!!

HELP! I am working on a 3D printed DLT-19, but I am missing one of the pieces. I'm not certain if it was not included in the original file when printed, but the part I need is the sight at the end of the barrel. If anyone has access to a 3D file with this part and a printer (or even just the file) could you get in touch via PM? If you can print it, I would be more than happy to pay for the materials, your time and postage. This is the last piece I need before assembly and painting, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Joseph (Sorry for the low-res pic) Image unrecoverable

Praetorian Blasters new Rubber DLT-19 project
justjoseph63 replied to slave1pilot's topic in BlasTech DLT-19
Just wondering if there were any updates on this, including a price. Thanks! -
Great to hear that you are headed for Centurion, Ben! The SE-14R is indeed a cool weapon, but you will need the E-11 holster for both levels 1 and 2, as well as an approvable E-11 itself. Even though the CRL only mentions the attachment method, it does show a clear photo of what the holster must look like, which being screen accurate is what the higher levels are all about. If you want to change it out after reaching Centurion that would be up to you.

GREAT job on that Anovos build, Nicholas! I must admit I have never seen such perfect alignment on the ab/kidney connections before, so kudos to you on that, brother. Also, fantastic to see that you went with the "double snap" method on your strapping... (you won't be sorry you took the extra time to do that, I promise). With all the work you put into this kit, I am thinking (hoping) you will be aiming for Centurion next, in which case I would like to offer the following suggestions for level 3: 1. As Tom mentioned, the ABS belt needs to come up a bit. It should overlap the ab button plate just a bit. Below is a screen-cap (first photo) for an example. 2. You will need to change out the ear screws. It's not that difficult, and I will send you a set of the correct ones for free (just PM me). 3. The hovi-mic tip screens will need to be replaced with ones that have a larger mesh. You can get those here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40706-fs-ukswraths-hovi-tip-screen/?tab=comments#comment-544584 4. Lastly, (although not necessary) I would suggest trimming off those sharper points of the return edges on the fronts of your thigh pieces. Return edges on the thighs are not necessary (see screen used thighs, photo 3) and can cut into you while trooping. Hope this helps, brother, and I look forward to seeing that EI badge under your name soon!

Securing s-trim on Classic TK
justjoseph63 replied to Shanester's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I had the same problem with my Hero bucket, Shane. I ended up buying a small tube of 2 part epoxy from Lowe's and have had no problems since. I removed all the E-6000 first and actually took some sandpaper and sanded out the slot before applying it to help with adhesion. If you decide to go that route, I suggest getting the "instant mix", which comes with a long thing applicator ideal for getting inside the slot of the S trim without getting it all over the place. Here is a link to the product I used: https://www.lowes.com/pd/LOCTITE-Epoxy-Instant-Mix/3218845 -
While I was wondering what to do my weathering with, I happened to be in a "Dollar store" and passed the women's make up section and saw a small container of what I am assuming is black eye shadow of some sort. I thought "what the heck", and bought that along with a puffy "blush" brush. BINGO! It has stayed on really well for the last few years, needing only the occasional touch-up. I went back and picked up a few extras of the powder, and will send you one (no charge) if you like. You will have to get your own blush brush, though, but like I mentioned they are only a buck at the dollar store. If interested, just PM me your complete shipping info. Remember when weathering your HWT that sometimes "less is more". You don't have to go crazy with it.

First time modding - Ideas?
justjoseph63 replied to matthewbrazilian's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Agreed. The amount of work that would have to be done to make this acceptable would be immense. With the molding on the edges, this would not be acceptable for ANH, but if you remove all the rivets, fill the holes with ABS paste, replace the hand guards and do a few other mods you may be able to submit it for ROTJ. Here are the links to the ROTJ and ANH CRLs so that you can better see the differences: ANH (Stunt): http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt ROTJ: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_rotj -
You can get them at places like sporting goods stores, but they tend to be a little pricey. I suggest trying Amazon as Brien suggested, just search Men's black compression pants (and shirts). Here are a few links: Pants: ------------- Shirt: https://www.amazon.com/Compression-Performance-Crewneck-Long-sleeve-Pack-Black/dp/B071YC27KM/ref=sr_1_8?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1511084525&sr=1-8&nodeID=7141123011&psd=1&keywords=black+compression+shirt+men Some prefer the one piece, but I personally suggest using separate pants and shirt as it makes it a bit easier to answer the "call of nature". Also, if you get a snag or tear you can just replace that part. Just be sure there are no manufacturer markings or logos visible.

GREAT job on that AP kit, Javier, and that paint job is spectacular! This should be an easy pass for your EI badge, brother. Since I am sure you will be aiming for Centurion next, the only small things I could recommend is to bring your shoulder bells in until the tops touch (or nearly touch) the shoulder bridges and bring your ABS belt up a bit, which should be a pretty easy fix. It should overlap the bottom of the large ab button panel by at least a 1/4 inch as seen in the screen cap below. See you at level 2 soon Trooper, and then onto level 3!

Armor Life Expectancy?
justjoseph63 replied to WhiteWalker's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
You can either use some spare ABS or even a heavy plastic "For Sale" sign available at Lowe's of the like. Just cut out a section about half an inch or so larger than the area in question and reinforce it from the back using E-6000. If you have the Anovos kit I would recommend this as a preventative measure on the neck and arm curves on the chest piece. -
Another option is one I use on my buckets, and that is to use Sugru. It is a kneadable glue (like Play-Doh) that you just roll into a thin "snake", press it into the inside of the eye opening and then press your lens in. Trim off any excess, and done. It stays put, but can be removed if you ever need to. https://sugru.com/

TK Boots quitting the business?
justjoseph63 replied to Kybackpacker's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Imperial Boots (https://www.imperialboots.com/#) is also on hiatus for the time being, but they have a top quality product. If you order from them, just remember to order a full size larger than you normally wear. -
Used RS Prop Master Armour
justjoseph63 replied to Richard_UK's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
If you are interested in building your own kit, I would recommend getting in touch with Paul (Troopermaster, who posted above) to see if he has any kits for sale. You could also contact RS. Both are fantastic if you have the time to build one, and although time consuming it's really not as difficult as you may think. There are dozens of build threads available here as well as hundreds of folks who are more than willing to help you out every step of the way. There may be someone in the UKG who can build it for you if you want to go that route. You should get in touch with one of the Imperial Attaches for the UKG who can help out a lot. Here are their contacts: 1. Chris: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/23806-themaninthesuitcase/ 2. Marc: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/13824-ctid/ 3. Kev: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/29459-chapaaz/ 4. Mark: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/27182-humperdingle/ -
Is it just the smell or is there yellowing on it? If it just the smell it should come out by cleaning it with a dish detergent like Dawn, and maybe even white distilled vinegar. Neither will harm the ABS. If it has a yellow discoloration it may be the ABS, which can discolor from extended periods of sunlight among other things. If that is the case, I would try this: https://trooperbay.com/trooperbay-armorwhite-plastic-whitening-gel

The reason that the DLT-19 was included so prominently is that it on the badge for Expert Infantry.

Okay Troopers, the EI "March to 1000" patch design contest is over! I would like to thank those who participated for some outstanding designs, but now it's time to make your voice known and vote on the one you like best. Below are the entries (each with a corresponding number in red) along with a poll to make it easy to choose your favorite. You will only be able to vote once, so choose wisely . In the case of a tie the Command Staff will make the final decision. The winner will be announced in the December newsletter, along with more information regarding availability/pricing of the patches. Please take a moment to post up "I voted" in this thread after making your selection, and THANKS for your help! -----------

Agreed, especially with that attitude.
