  1. My BBB has arrived and now I am making sure I have what I need and getting what I don't. This list is perfect! Thanks for putting it together, Joseph! I'm heading to JoAnn's this weekend with a stack of 50% off coupons. I know, one per transaction, so there will be a few trips to the car...
  2. I saw someone mention they use prescription swimming goggles when wearing their bucket. I'm just going to keep with my contacts.
  3. Like they have suggested, start hitting the pinned threads in the "Getting Started - Read This First!" section. Since the armor is made out of plastic, it is very possible to make things smaller, larger, wider, more curvy, less curvy, etc. A quick search of the 501's Members list shows that there are at least 10 members of the Timberline Garrison located in Boise. The search is on www.501st.com, under 'Members' Welcome. Good Luck and Have Fun!
  4. Exactly! The kits are the way to go. As you fit yours to your body, you need to know if it is too tight, too loose, digging in in uncomfortable locations... all things that a mannequin can't tell you. Good luck and have fun, Josh!
  5. Maybe they would build it for you... Hoping for the best!
  6. Awesoooome! Welcome to the party, Luke! Congrats, Mom and Dad!
  7. DZ 50297 requesting 501st access! http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=18619 Thanks
  8. It is the date of another very life-changing event for me. It's my twin daughter's birthday - 50297!
  9. Two different products have been mentioned here and should not be confused... Goo Gone is a citrus based cleaning product that is relatively mild on plastics. Test it first. Goof Off is a Xylene based flammable cleaning product that will melt plastic, and will take paint off a car, or other metal surfaces. Avoid using Goof Off on plastic!!! And, I'd agree with the sandpaper or plasti-dipping the inside!
  10. Ditto. At least I know I will meet the requirements of the Body Building Liaison for the Fett or any of the Stormtrooper costumes! Sometimes ya just need to slow down and read the fine print! Very creative. I think I will like hanging out with this family!
  11. I get the same thing on the forum page. But the homepage www . fl501st . com works fine. Clicking the forum link from there gets the same weird screen. EDIT: Actually clicking on any link on the top bar gets the weirdness.
  12. I just ordered a kit Sunday night and have an estimated delivery date between April 10th and 20th. I guess that fits their 9-15 business day delivery. justjoseph63, have you received your 'dispatched' kit, yet?? EDIT: I see joseph posted on another post that it took 6 weeks to get his full kit, but 9 days for the Hasbro kit off eBay. I bought the last of 10 pipe kits off eBay on Sunday, so we will see how long it takes!
  13. Unfortunately, yes. Clowns are a little freaky to me. I recall heading back inside and ran into the sliding glass door, knocking myself out. I remember seeing a pizza stuck to the ceiling and three Troopers singing in harmony, London Bridge. I woke up on Wednesday.
  14. Man, this is getting pretty good. Sure wish I hadn't passed out so early, I really missed a lot!
  15. So, no adult supervision? I hope R2 was able to turn off the cameras around here...
  16. Congrats to the 2015 FISD Force Aloha! This hobby takes a lot of time and dedication and I thank you all for your willingness to serve the Detachment! And thank you also to those that are stepping down. The FISD would not be the awesome place it is without all your hard work. I've only been walking around these white corridors a few months, but I've had a chance to bump into a few of you here and there. Rest assured that my armor is on order and I look forward to building it and submitting my application under Force Aloha! I've heard of the cookies, now I need to find out about this pie stuff...
  17. He was fortunate that he made it to the only green spot in the neighborhood. His son tweeted that he was battered, but doing fine! Glad the Force was watching out for him!
  18. I play Architect in real life. Mostly commercial - offices, schools, higher ed, healthcare, athletic complexes, student housing - but currently doing assisted living facilities.
  19. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/harrison-ford-injured-plane-crash-n318301 Prayers are lifted for Mr. Ford!
  20. Tony, I wouldn't take it too personal. Wingnuts are nuts, but the world wouldn't be held together without us. I mean, them. I don't want to get this off track more than it has, but the question was asked. Here it is when it was new And here is the current status. Not enough done yet and too much left to do. After I finish my Tusken, I will finish replacing the front floor board and both front valances, finish the brake job and then pull the engine. And now back to the regularly scheduled Awesome Thread!!!!
  21. I've always liked airplanes. My dad brought home a Piper Tri-Pacer to rebuild in our garage when I was 4. Since then, I've been hanging around airports. Got my private pilot license after college, but haven't flown in too many years. . For some people, having boats and hanging at the marina is a norm. For me, it is airplanes. So, I've always used 'wingnut' in some form. Kinda a like plane-crazy. It fits me! The 65 is for my family's 1965 VW Bus (11-window Kombi) that I am restoring in my garage. OK, its really on the back burner until I can get a couple costumes completed! BTW, Thank's, Snaps for starting this. There are so many time's I've wondered about some of these names.
  22. Thanks for the heads-up, Gaz! One thought on your new armor mods, it is a great start for a Death Trooper!
  23. Gongrats on the start, Joseph!!!! For the glue, I've had good success removing unwanted glue off my DZ mask project. Try putting some on scrap plastic or inside area and let it dry a couple days to see how well it comes off for you. Have fun on your build!
  24. Welcome to the neighborhood, Aleksi! As you put together your overall budget, be sure to set aside some for the extras that help make trooping enjoyable. Like, fans and voice amps for in the mask, and every Stormtrooper needs an E-11 Blaster! Good luck and have fun on this adventure!
  25. Good point on the Easy Off, Kelly! As a plastic model builder, Easy Off is our go-to for getting paint off old styrene model bodies. Spray it on, let it soak and use a toothbrush to rube it off. Repeat as needed until it all comes off.
