  1. Hi there Chance! Finished product looks the bomb! Was wondering if you could give us a few pointers.... I just got the same resin kit and have got as far as filling the bubbles and missing bits from the mould. Kinda stuck trying to figure out the best way to put the pieces together - namely drilling the main connecting holes and how to secure them. Im also hoping to be able to have it in two pieces at least so its easier to transport. The main barrel comes with a long PVC pipe with the mould around it. But the butt end only has the pipe in the actual butt I guess to hold the mould. In your image, did you insert a tube of some sort in it after you drilled the joining hole? There is also what looks like a bolt and nut that has been moulded at the connecting ends. I was thinking I could use an actual bolt and nut to secure the two main pieces together. I've cleaned the barrel holes out up to the PVC pipe. In my E-11 blaster I have the same holes drilled right through so you can see through them. You mentioned something about the real thing not having the holes go all the way through? So do I/can I drill them all the way? Im not really thinking about electronics this time around if that helps. Might go try and find an aluminium pipe tomorrow... As you would have figured out already I have no idea about real guns, let alone an MG like this. I've never seen one for real so I don't know it works and what all the parts are and what they do. Im just going by what the internet has provided thus far. Any help and advice would be great! Ive always wanted one of these since I was a kid! CHEERS!!!
  2. ARrrghh! So sorry Diana! I meant 'PRICELESS'...!!!! As far as the engineer - you know you have a great mechanic for your armour there 24/7. Either way - props!
  3. 1. Do we need to have EIB status before we can apply for Centurion? Or is one allowed to try straight for centurion? 2. Also with strapping for centurion, does it have to be the hook method? Or is the strapping left to the individual as long as everything in the CRL is adhered to? Thanks!
  4. I just spent the last 4 hours reading this from start to finish. You (and your engineer) are such an inspiration to building a TK. I wish I would have seen this before I started mine. I hope you understand that your shared experience and build journey is 'priceless' to those who are new to this and aren't quite sure if they are up for it. BIG UPS! PS. When are we gonna see the engineers build thread...?
  5. Did my first troop today. About 4 hours and 3000+ kids. Decided that I NEED a voice system. So..... i-Comm or RomFX ... ? Pros & Cons please from people who have used either or both....
  6. I have an AP and I built it in a limited timeframe. The helmet was probably the easiest and most fun. But I was given advice to build it last. As by that time your skills with cutting, trimming, drilling, painting and overall experience with working with the ABS would be at top notch. And you want your lid to look the best cos it's the first thing people see.
  7. I have tried that active system but I still haven't worked out how/where to set the mics and speakers. They are so sensitive and pick every little thing up from the vibrations in the lid.
  8. Sounds great! Keep us updated on your progress. Yeah Ive got a few systems but still haven't found the best combo yet. And yes, Im no electrical genius, but I used to race R/C cars so I know some basics. Still no Mcguyver tho.
  9. Hey Sly11 - Im in the market for a DLT-19 too....maybe we can arrange some sort of shared shipping cost if we buy a few? I know at least one other trooper in Melbourne looking for one as well..,,,
  10. Thanks troopers. Ill check out the suggestions. I currently run 'Evilboy' fans and have figured out a confortable setup. But I still can't hear as well as I would like to, Maybe that will just take some getting used to.
  11. Mark is the man! Still tweaking it out, but I love my armour!
  12. TK 88118 requesting access thank you. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=17847
  13. That first cut into abs and then snapping it off - like crack.
  14. I'm still new to the trooping universe, but I have followed everything Star Wars since it came out in the late 70's. I personally enjoy the clone wars series and rebels too! I think it fits in with the target market of today. If Star Wars came out first as a cartoon like this, I would still love it just the same I reckon. I gather that we are talking about the life sized figure? Like the rest I wouldn't like to see people trooping I'm that armor, coz it does look too cute and whatever. But as something to have in my living room on display with the stand and plaque - HELL YEAH I WANT ONE!
  15. So I have a couple fans in my lid. Also got a voice changer/amp/mic. Everything works well but when I turn the fansw on - I can't hear anything. Is there a system that amplifies both your voice and also noise from outside the lid - In one system? Or do I have to install 2 systems to achieve what I'm after? Bit confused with the aker system everyone is using.....
  16. Yep that is the correct email. I got mine from Mark about 3 weeks ago and have just finished building it. I only rushed because I had a deadline. Please take advice from the rest of the troopers on here - take as much time as you can! Anyways, I will vouch for Marks service. He has been so easy to deal with and has answered all my questions even the silly ones. He might be really busy so give it a day or two before hassling him again. Im sure he will get back to you when he can. You're gonna enjoy this so much!
  17. Im going to revive this and ask the same question. TO CUT OR NOT TO CUT?!?!?! I have an AP suit which I have just completed. Waiting for basic approval and obviously haven't trooped yet. Been fully suited up about 6 or 7 times now for about 30-40 mins at a time just walking around, climbing stairs etc. I guess I can move around enough, but I would love to be able to bend down...even a little. Wondering if its a 50/50 choice with most troopers, and also will it effect me in eventually gaining centurion status. Im 5'10" or thereabouts and around 170 pounds (77kgs). Any insight will be muchly appreciated! Cheers! Deep inside I really wanna do it, but I just wanna make sure I don't ruin it by doing so.
  18. If you take the letter 'N' out of 'SANDTROOPER'...it becomes.......
  19. Just finished my AP and I had massive issues with my sniper plate as well. Its outright crooked!
  20. Finally the gun is dry. Kinda. Ive actually done a bit more to it since like painting some of the screws and some slight weathering which I'm not sure made ay difference. Will post pics once Ive finished building my armour. But this is pretty much 99% done.
  21. Tinkering tinkering... Managed to just get the coil in made from a coat hanger. The coils are not 100% straight but I don't think you will realise once painted. Dug around for something to hold stop the spring inside the barrel, and found some bmx brake part with a bolt. So I modified it a little. Not really to spec but I think it looks cool. Also found a grub screw at the bottom of my toolbox. Taking advantage of the nice day to lay down some primer. Now that I've got a couple coats on, I can see more blemishes from glue and moulding. Might give it another once over sanding when it dries and maybe a couple more coats of primer before I attempt to put some colour on it. Still waiting for a scope mount so I can't go too much further.
