Hard hat. Cut the liner mounts out with a dremel or hack saw. I little bit of industrial strength velcro and you're set -

Lucky you The good news is both belts are 501st approveable, the bad news is the belt on the left is not excepted at EIB or above.
-
Specific measurements are not mandatory, they're a guideline.
-
2 cents, also I found it made life much easier to have separate waist belt assemblies for the TK and HWT. Frustration saver at troops if you want to switch out mid stream.
-
It's very difficult to tell if there indeed are screws or not judging by the game stills. I always assumed there were so mine has them. Until further notice I say with or without will be excepted, though I think they look better with.

Looks great nice work

The CRL shows a pack with an antenna. Until that changes, and it could be a while, antennas are a go. Even if the CRL changes packs already built with the antenna will be excepted, or grandfathered in. Base size, or the exact size of anything else on the pack is subject to a guesstimate. Joseph has done an excellent job provided a guideline so that when building people stay within a general rule. TK armor sizes change, some ever so slightly between builders. We don't pull out the ruler during those approvals, it's no different here

Thanks for mentioning it. it's because the first couple HWTs approved had antennas and were oked, myself included. The HWT was very low key at that time (similar to when FX armor was king), but now that it's in the spotlight it's time to refine a few areas. The antenna will be phased out of the CRL eventually. Until then there will be either/or option, especially for those that have already built them with antennas, and going through approvals. To all future builders, I suggest you drop the antenna.

No problem Shea, looks good.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things but I see a lot of builders going for the larger (deep) oil pans when it should be maybe half the width or at least the same width or thinner than the radio. Again it's not a deal breaker but worth noting none the less.

Nice work Joseph

At this point we're just trying to get it under control and make sure troopers understand the dos and don'ts and answer any questions that may arise. As seen in all my tutorials and extra gadgets I'm a creative person. I like to invent things. Back when I first came to the FISD my first tutorial was illustrating how to make shin bra hooks from scratch. Someone stated I was trying to reinvent the wheel, my response was I wasn't, I was trying to find a better way to put it on the car. May sound lame but my point was and has always been to not stifle creativity. That said, we need to have a balance of creativity and staying within the CRL guidelines.

Hey John, it's always been this way, we're just revisiting the topic. Feel free to elaborate on what you've done so we can talk about it.

As we speak Joseph has drawn a diagram outlining the back components and approximate sizes. Maybe he can chime in and elaborate on that.

Shea you're good my brother, no worries . Sorry for hijacking your thread. Alteration conversation is being continued on another thread. We encourage creativity and yet we also want to stay within the bounds of the CRL. Modifying armor to fit comfortably and/or eliminating physical harm or restrictions (aka armor bites, being able to walk) are safety issues. Adding light, audio systems, etc are purely entertainment. Even my Hovi andio system is designed to look and sound like troopers seen on screen. Unfortunately if you were to apply for basic approval your pack, in the condition it is with the extra pipes, probably wouldn't pass, especially if your GML sticks to the CRL. Covering the holes shouldn't be too big a deal. Hate to see you replace the entire oil bucket. I'd be happy to give you some advice in you need it.

Pack alterations or any other accessory or costume alteration. Just wanted to continue on with that topic without hijacking someone else's thread. In response to your comment on Shea's thread "....if you look at my pack in my EIB it's not visible and pack conforms to standards.", I agree and think your's is acceptable, you've designed it in such a way it disguises any alterations you've made . My only concern is for those that don't know any better. There's nothing wrong with being creative as long as you stay within the boundaries of the CRL. In other words if you can't alter it without noticeably modifying, removing or adding to, then it's not permissible without 501st approval. Troopers need to understand when on a official 501st troop, or even in public where you could be perceived as a 501st member, your approved costume is to remain in it's approved state, with the exception of comfort trimming, etc. If you're at a non-offical event, away from the general public's eye and your garrison has given you the green light, then who cares lights away IMHO, though some will still disagree with me on this. Anyhow, the purpose of this thread is to encouraging creativity at the same time remaining within the boundaries of the CRL.

There's been some discussion on another thread regarding keeping accessories consistent or standardized. I'd like to see some healthy discussion regarding the subject. Please feel free to chime in and express whether you agree, disagree, have some concerns, etc. Please keep it civil.
