  1. It's pretty, but I'd be terrified of chipping some chrome off or even fingerprints corroding it at that price. What a collectors item tho. Too bad it doesn't come with the case
  2. I riveted it so the brow is awfully low. Looking at that pic of a pile of the original unfinished buckets, I don't think it's outrageous, just lower than I had intended. What do you think? I'm still filing the teeth out, I like the holes to follow the frown a bit more than Panda's twinkies. The eyes might be done tho, eh? Also, is it normal to have such a gap where the ears will go? You can see some big ugly cuts I'm stuck with, too😕 http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps54d2ab36.jpg.html http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps761f41d5.jpg.html Merry Xmas/ happy holidays, everybody
  3. I found a page on here somewhere that a Vern (screen name?) offers build services and lives in the OC area like me, but can't find it now, of course. I just riveted my first bucket together and...😦 Does anyone want to build my ATA armor kit for me? Everything but the helmet. I just had crazy surgery and the last of my model building chi has been drained by riveting my ATA stunt faceplate on too low (high?) like luke's hero when I wanted move along-ish instead.. Anyways, my kit should be ready around Feb. What would be fair to pay someone to build an ATA kit to my 6'3" 160 lb self? Who else likes to do this? Or is that a ridiculous request? Just wondering, thanks all
  4. Oh boy, I'm 6'3" so I'll be interested in hearing how you did that
  5. Pandatrooper has a great ATA step-by-step. Follow the mold lines on the inside of the eyes and give yourself a little extra room on the ears just in case. I'm still on cutting, but I can say that if you paint the inside black, use many, many coats because mine scratches off when I try to fit the face into the cap. Also, might seem obvious, but I keep cutting the outside of my faceplate where I don't want cuts, so be vigilant if you're going for the freshly issued look. I'll have to make mine practically battle-damaged at this point lol. Good luck with yours
  6. 😱 well that's an argument I'd agree with. Clones are both good and evil in the story so they're kinda riding the fence in terms of guys at an event representing the empire/sith or the republic/jedi. Dandies (autocorrect lol) ...Sandies are plain evil like TKs. I'd even say phase 1s belong in the rebel club, technically, with phase 2s being jedi killers and looking close enough in the face to hang out with us. (Jk, I'm sure I'll come around, but I'm still put off by the "futuristic" design compared to what my brain and heart say is a stormtrooper!)
  7. Let em make their own club! Even clones are pushing it if you ask me (no hate, just sayin they're DIFFERENT even if they're still wearing armor that's white)
  8. After watching TK4510DECALS' YouTube videos of building a TE2, I see that the eyes are different and I won't be able to replicate the on-screen look with an ATA too effectively. So I'll just try to make it as clean as possible and follow that pencil/mold line. I'll take more off the teeth too
  9. Just looking for some feedback after finally cutting out the teeth and eyes. I know I've still got some filing/sanding to do. http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsf40e1f5a.jpg.html?o=4 I was trying to make it look kinda like how the on-screen stunts were trimmed. http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps5ade9613.jpg.html?o=3 I liked the look of the sharper, more rhombus-shaped teeth that follow the frown's angles. http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpscce2e4b3.jpg.html?o=2 Here you can see how easily the black paint I used scratches off. Around the eyes I put a pencil line where it looked like the flashing ended which seemed like where Pandatrooper cut too. Should I go ahead and trim to that line if I want to keep the on-screen stunt look? http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsaf7272ab.jpg.html?o=1 There's still a lot of plastic around the eyes, but I was scared to cut too much off and give it a surprised expression. http://s1369.photobucket.com/user/charlesnarles/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps1f8f09e2.jpg.html?o=0 I also got the ears down to roughly the right shape. Just need to fit the brow trim on and I can actually start fitting the face and cap together. Pretty exciting business
  10. I painted my ATA with rustoleum matte black only to have to back/cap piece scratch up the sides of the face piece while test fitting them together, not to mention all the scratches I made while cutting out the mouth/eyes. I stupidly only did one good coat, so definitely do several 😅 I'll have to touch mine up a bunch with a brush...
  11. Too cute. I agree too that we're barely getting the real accurate molds/casts down and should let the fans of Rebels make their own darned club lol. Not to mention it looks like a mix of Rubies and FX buckets... Shudder. Even my 6" Black Series TK looks more accurate (my 6" TD is great tho, so might just be an unlucky fluke). I saw my first episode of the show and 6 TKs didn't shoot once as the protags easily beat them up with punches/kicks/throws. Boo. Watch the intro to Force Commander and you'll see TKs blast the crap out of a guy. Just sayin.
  12. It totally worked to solder it onto the AAs. Now to replace the LED that came with the Boba gun to make it look mo' betta
  13. ^ we're free advertising I'm finding myself comparing SW to ST (don't kill me) as in OT are like the Shatner era, prequels are like The Next Generation or Deep Space 9 and 7-9 might be like the reboot movies (made by the same guy..) in terms of anyone being dedicated enough to cosplay them. We'll just have to wait and see if they even look cool or not lol
  14. I soldered the Boba electronics wires onto the AA battery connections, being careful to wire red on left and black on right (not sure about +/- so went by reference pics). It was easier than I expected and everything still worked! I had to cut a slot into the gun's body to fit the smaller-than-E11 circuit board in snugly (not snuggley) enough to let the trigger push the little button on the board. Btw, had to swap the little rubber buttons cause Boba's is shorter than the E-11's but they have just about the same size holes on their boards so it's easy. I hot glued everything in place and just have to shave some glue/plastic off the barrel to let it fit together like it should. Then I can glue that sucker and start bondo-ing the gaps and making the scope. Sounds way better to have a single trigger-pull noise than two that alternate. I always hated that as a kid. This is beyond therapeutic lol (Still having trouble posting pics from a PC, I'm on a phone right now anyways. Forgive me!)
  15. All I noticed was the cheekbone points by the teardrops could maybe poke out a little more strongly, the ear discs could be a little thinner, the mouth is more frowny (vs fancy moustache-shaped) and the eyes are open wider compared to pics of the Dave M & Brian R buckets. Its expression (to me) captures the Empire's distain for aliens, like he's exasperated from policing some cruddy forgotten corner of the galaxy. Try it on! We have to rely on you for side-by-side size comparisons, too
  16. I'm around your size and on the ATA wait list. I've been told to swap the shins out for that of RT (TM are also longer shins but probably wouldn't match ATA's color as closely). I do know EIB/Cent is based on how YOU look in YOUR armor, so you have to be careful about black:white ratios and such, but ATA should be fine. Good luck
  17. I always see patches/stickers with the imperial cog resting on the flat part, not standing on a tip (rotated like 1/8 turn)
  18. I only have Echo's so far from buying a fan kit 😃
  19. It reminds me of the Family Guy SW retellings. Which is not good at all! I hate the mouth height and tube size. I don't even hate eFX buckets after some work, so I guess it's just not for me 😛
  20. It looks cool, man. I'm trying to line up angles for side-by-side shots with some other sculpts to see how the expression looks among some pals. The nuances are what makes their cold plasteel helmets still have emotion after all ("move along"=😧; hero=😠)
  21. Can I rewire a 3 AAA LED and speaker to a AA battery connector? I decided to just gut the E-11 which takes 2 AA and want to put in that of a Boba gun, which takes 3 AAA. ???
  22. I plan on hollowing out the sight and making it as functional as I can. I like the translucent look of some screenshot close-ups I've seen of the lens so I'll try to emulate that somehow. I realized I'd eventually need to replace my gun's batteries, so I have to find a new place for the pack (was gonna put it under the sight rail in the tube). I've read that both AA and AAA batteries are 1.5v when new. Boba takes 3 AAA but the E-11 takes two AA. Think it would work if I soldered the Boba wires to the E-11 battery connectors? Can't find much on this online I'm tempted to just try it but I figured I'd ask first. [edit] I got one response saying it'd be fine, so I'm teaching myself to solder
  23. I do not like it. 😀 I was expecting an evolution, not a resculpt. No vocoder, no grey, no blue... I just. Don't. Know.
  24. Yes photobucket. I tried both mobile and regular uploads. I'll try Firefox (sigh)
  25. I can't get the image poster to work. I click okay after pasting the url, but then nothing happens and the page freezes. Anyone have any suggestions? I use IE on Windows 8.1
