  1. HI guys, here are some photos of my TK lid. I'ts 99% finished, and I'm aiming for Centurion with this build. Please feel free to let me know if something doesn't qualify. (I will be painting the ear screws white tonight!) Info: Make: BFA (UK), HIPS. 'S' shape neck trim. Painted all details except tube stripes. Flat Green perspex lenses. Frown mesh 2-part Hovi's. Paint: Humbrol Gloss black #21, Grey #5. Interior painted Humbrol Matt Black #33 pics:
  2. looking 4wd to new TK!

  3. Yes indeed! In fact, the 'eye' bump is often included in many helmets that you can get. While it came from a fault during the manufacture, it has now become part of the 'stunt' look, so if you're doing a Stunt Trooper, be sure to leave it there! The face just looks *weird* without it!
  4. Well, thanks for the replies. I'm glad to read that the CRL may be changed. My point is there should be an option for a totally clean TK. If the centurion reflects what's seen on screen, then frown mesh, for example, should be removed. As Ive been told, the TK's in that scene did not have frown mesh. Anyway, let's see what the powers that be say regarding scuffage!
  5. Hi all, I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm not trying to be controversial or start any trouble by posting this... I plan to go for Centurion status in Feb when my new TK Stunt arrives, but the only thing I have an issue with is the boot criteria: "Boots shall be lightly scuffed." I want my TK to be 'factory fresh' as far as possible ( I don't mind weathering the blaster, as it's a prop and looks less like a toy if weathered), and I don't want to have to scuff up a brand new pair of TK Boots. I know that Tantive IV troopers have scuffed boots, and that's probably where the rule came from, but the only reason they were scuffed was because they were wearing black jodphurs that had been painted white. Numerous takes would naturally scuff up the boots. Had white leather boots been available at the time, I'm sure they would've been used on all troopers and less scuffing would be shown on screen. I just think that a trooper that is clean all over shouldn't be forced to wear scuffed boots that don't match his otherwise spotless armour. I'm fully aware that there is a constant dichotomy between 'real' stormtroopers' and 'on screen' stormtroopers, and it's for us to decide whether we want to look like a soldier of the Empire (as if it were real) and an actor from Elstree in 1976. Although I like both disciplines, I would prefer to go with factory fresh shiny TK, as the 'Elstree '76' look with chipped HDPE lid etc., doesn't appeal to me as much, though I do applaud those troops who go the whole hog. With that in mind, can you please tell me if I could attain Centurion status with clean boots? If so, could the requirement be amended for other troops who want to present a 'clean' look? Something like: "Boots can either be clean for 'parade' look, or lightly scuffed for battle-worn look." I'm sure that within a matter of troops, the boots will naturally become scuffed, but to insist on it for Centurion status is (imho) a little too extreme. Is this a fair request?
  6. Returing to TKing in 2013

  7. Okay, so now people are saying the blue stripr angles off to the right once it passes the brow trim, and the end of the stripe goes into the Hovi well? Can we get some official decision on these aspects please? I just painted my helmet and really don't see this as good news... <
  8. Thanks mate, mine is cut at 45 degrees. That's a 'Phew! ' then. As for the middle belt button, my armour has it built in, i.e. it was vacformed with the others in place. Is that going to be an issue ? -----------
  9. Some guidance please! I read in the CRL that the belt corners should be left as right angles (CENTURION REQUIREMENT) Not cut off at 45 degrees as in ANH. Mine are ANH style. Is this ok for TK Commander? As for handplates, There's a TK Commander 4" figure I've seen with BLUE handplates. (see links below) Which should I do, please? Tel
  10. I'm using PVA glue to get the chip effect. Very happy with it so far... -----------
  11. SPLENDID! Then grey faces they shall have!
  12. So....is there a DEFINITE consensus on the Drop Box colour? Yes or no? And IF yes, is it only the front face of the dropbox, leaving the sides white? Someone help clarify this as I'm at the painting stage with my TKC. Cheers!
  13. Hi!

    You're in Wales? Whereabouts mate?

    I'm in Pontypridd.

  14. Can anyone provide a real-world brand of paint to get the optimum shade of blue? I was told Plasti-Kote Royal Blue is good...
  15. Ok cool. SO, to summarise, I'll be doing: Blue as in the CRL, BLack ear details, weathering and Grey Dropboxes.
  16. So - Grey FRONT FACE only on drop boxes? Is this a must now? It's not mentioned on the CRL at all.
  17. I might've said this elsewhere, but the EASIEST by far, and non-permanent weathering can be done with a black Chinagraph pencil. Simply scribble a little on, and rub with a finger until you're happy. It can be wiped off at any time if you like. I've done it to my Biker and it looks great. Will be doing it to my TK Commander soon.
  18. Thanks Dash! I just want to run my little and often questions by those in the know from time to time. There will be more!
  19. I'm about to trim and assemble my armour for a TKC. I've read conflicting reports about the ab button plate: Question: Shall I affix it the correct way up (as per ANH stunt ) or UPSIDE DOWN? (As I've read elsewhere that TKC's have upside down buttons.) I really neeed to know this before I make any mistakes. Cheers fellas.
  20. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOSS! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
  21. Hi guys and gals, As you might remember, I was forced to sell my first TK kit (AP) about a year ago. Sad to see it go, but it became the first armour for a new UKG trooper, so it went to a good home. I've since spent the last year putting together a BIker, which is now cleared (TB-2135). I still miss my TK though. I still have my E11 and AP bucket which are fine, but I need the rest. Now, although I'd love me a set of TM, theres no way I can afford it. All I really want is wht used to be called an FX-Lite kit. A nrewly-cleared TK in the UK has told me of a place to get such a kit at under £275. (armour only, no lid or boots) But - is there another option that is more accurate for the same price? Or same (FX quality) quality for a better price? Bear in mind I'm in the UK. I could do with some options and prices, if anyone can advise. I remember the FISD was the most helpful site I've ever joined. I hope this is still the case! Cheers Terry
  22. I've just returned from an amazing 10 day trip to the Star Wars locations in Tunisia. One of my co-pioneers out there is TK 6682 - a member of the South California Garrison - he took his sandtrooper kit (ATA) out and trooped it at most of the locations - to the bewilderment of many tourists and Tunisian locals. I believe he's the first person to do this. I'm currently nominating him for 501st trooper of the month. Then when we got to the Hotel Sidi Driss (Lars Homestead), I got the opportunity to suit up and get a LOT of pics taken, which has got to be a first for a UKG trooper, surely? I'd like to thank 'Doc' as he was kind enough to let me don the kit as we're the same size, which I hope qualifies me for the first UKG trooper to appear in armour at the Sidi Driss location.
  23. I saw some good close ups of an RT-MOD lid this week and while it looks great, I would advise you to look at the back. The bulge that sweeps around the back of the neck is so flat, it's almost non-existent. I don't like that bit at all, but the face plate is really nice.
  24. Your AP lid looks identical to mine withthe brow height and the ear gaps - perfect! Don't adjust any more!
