What he said ^ I have RS and I ended up trimming both sides of the ab plate and it makes a huge difference. Its not only a more comfortable and better fit but it looks better too.
Agree with what everyone has said about the amount of room inside the RS helmet. I own one and it is roomy inside, due to its wonky shape I have to put it on kind of sideways to get in on my head though lol....but that's no issue
The cover strip should be in line with the knee like in the second picture. However if your thigh is slighty angled outward it shouldnt be the end of the world. Ideally though it should be inline with your knee. You can lower the tighs a bit and see if that helps to reduce the pinching...
