  1. Thanks for the link Mattax - that's a great body of work and I've added it to the list of reference sites at http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=95
  2. Short answer? TE2 is the closest you can get to a screen used helmet that is readily available. The original TE - IIRC - did a scan of the actual Set for Stun helmet and had a run done in fiberglass, then when they're all gone will break said molds. Now that would be even closer, but they are few and far between.
  3. You can also loosen your belt a bit too to sit down to give you more room. Most people suspend the cod from the ab plate, but I think TK4205's solution is more...flexible
  4. Due to me having to be out of action for almost all of November (traveling fool, me), I've asked my friendly neighborhood TK4205 to to the assembly of the legs & belt pieces to get this puppy *done*. He just finished the thighs and the results are beyond what I'd have been able to do - just gorgeous. I suspect he'll post a tutorial on how to do them correctly (hint, hint Wyatt). What this means is I'll be able to start wearing this as my primary suit come December when I get back and put the TD on some much needed R&R.
  5. Speaking of tour suits, my bud just went to OMSI to see the Star Wars exhibit and he said the TK on display was just horrid. Nothing you'd be caught dead trooping in, and probably wouldn't pass 501st quality standards. Doh!
  6. Identity confirmed. You are released to your local garrison. Carry on
  7. This has come up several times. Here are some ideas I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are others: 1. Stick with FX armor. It's the "largest" molded. 2. (EASY) Cut the cod from the ab and the butt from the back plate. You can add shims here, and they will be mostly (if not entirely covered by the belt. This will close the gap between the top of the ab and the chest. 3. (HARD) Cut the bottoms off the thighs. Add 1 or 2" of shim all the way around. Fill & sand, then repaint. The hard part will be in replicating the raised seams.
  8. I'm definitely in for one - super idea!!
  9. I made a few screw-ups as noted and got some replacement parts in today. Here is a good example of what lines of illusion are and why you shouldn't try to trim them off. Mr. X. was also kind enough to include some spare ABS strips with the order, and all parts were very nicely packed. But what was truly classy was the inclusion of Mona Loa nuts which seems standard, but also a very nice extra surprise. Now we'll really need to visit Paradise. Talk about going the extra mile for a trooper - thanks Mr. X!!
  10. Do you have a screen shot of this? My understanding is that the ANH hero were smoke bubble only, while the stunt were flat green.
  11. Yes, both are slated for being updated. Ed (XO) is working with MF to get the logo updated, as it also needs to say "501st Legion" on it. Carl (S@A) is reworking the sig banner. Both should be able to file current status reports.
  12. Sweet mod! Man, I should do that on both my TK & TD, as over time the thighs tend to pull down the cod, etc. and then certain things that didn't rub start to rub, and it just doesn't look right for a TK to be "adjusting", if you take my meaning.
  13. At least six months out. Legion policy is no detachment merchandise runs while we're in our probationary period, which will expire at the end of April 2007.
  14. I'm sure the feedback you'll usually hear is that you'd make a killer Vader. I had a few thoughts run through my head, but nothing that was simple. Perhaps the simplest way to go if you were desperate would be to cut the thighs on the horizontal - basically separating the the lower 3" from the rest, adding a shim of ABS all the way around, filling, sanding, and repainting. Scary to cut in to plastic I know, but you can get replacement thighs for about $45 shipped in a worst case scenario.
  15. Great start Wyatt! Considering my situation, I have a very keen interest in how this turns out ;-) Also, it's great to see threads like this. I converted my first TK to a TD due to all the booboos I made & didn't know how to get rid of. I'd rather any future conversions be voluntary.
  16. Looking at post counts, I noticed Gundamzeppelin is at 52. What's amazing is not only is he the fourth highest post count holder (behind only command staff, who's counts are in the hundreds) but also that he's done it in a record single month. That's more than the next highest person who's been here since the beginning (6JUL). Way to go you posting trooper!
  17. Yeah. I used hot glue in some helmet parts like lenses and it's pretty easy to pull off. Also tried hot gluing foam padding to forearms, etc. and they just pull right off. ABS cement is the way to go on ABS armor for sure.
  18. My experience says yes. I've never had it hold for very long myself, but others may have had better luck.
  19. Personally I'd like to know the comments from the "no" voters. There's nothing I can do about sour grapes or - as I've seen posted - sadness as the 501st moves from a mostly stormtrooper-centric costuming club to a broader and more inclusive imperial costuming club, but if there are changes we can make, then it's worthwhile hearing them. I don't think any of us have egos so big that we're not open to - if not actively seeking - feedback or new ideas.
  20. I had this happen on a clone helmet one. The only real solutions I can see are: 1) Add more padding to the top of the helmet. 2) Get a more accurate, smaller ANH helmet from AP, TE2, or RT. Looking the second pix around the neck area looks about right. Possible to post pix of how far you can turn your head? I'd also suggest trimming down the diameter of the thighs (not hard to do) and moving them up a bit. Other than that, it looks good.
  21. Yes we do, at http://www.whitearmor.net/uploads/whitearmorBLUE.jpg
  22. Eventually? No. I'm looking at alternative URL's now. WAN was just something I picked as stormtroopers.net was taken, and it was in part homage to the TK-899's excellent White Armor Chronicles. It was never meant to be permanent.
