  1. Sorry the US has become so locked down John. It's a real pain when good folk are turned away at our borders for this kind of thing.
  2. Looking very good. You know, with just a few small mods you could qualify for Mark deployed status ;-)
  3. Other ideas 1) Slide the chest down as much as you can - looks like you can get another 1/4" that way. 2) Cut the cod off the ab plate if you haven't and add a spacer behind the belt (or strapping like TK_MD) 3) Check your profile from the side. I had something similar on my TE2 and found that I had the back riding too far down, pulling the chest with it. I also increased the length of the canvas straps holding the two together. 4) Last result - perhaps your FX chest was trimmed too much. Check against dims of another FX as well as the RT.
  4. Yeah dims would be great. I thought RT was smaller than FX too - my bud's chest/back certainly is.
  5. Set. For the next posters - guys please remember to include a link to your 501st profile. Else it delays me hooking you up... Wellington - you owe us pix
  6. The RT chest is definitely smaller than the FX - one of my garrison mates actually changed his FX to RT for this reason (e.g. the RT is smaller). Don't have dims - I'm sure someone does. AFAIK, the FX is the largest kit out there (aside from customs like TKBig).
  7. G*d speed, Bernard.
  8. Yeah, almost there. They were both rush jobs. My sandy is all snaps and I can put it on in less than 5 minutes. The stormy is more velcro and I'm not at a point where I can put in on all by myself yet in moments. so I get disoriented at times.
  9. Still looks good to me mate - and you gotta love that smooth cap 'n' back
  10. Quick, spot the errors! Man, can't believe I was that tired I forgot... Maybe I can use these?
  11. Nothing to add that hasn't been said before. Almost there...
  12. I think that's agreed if someone gave you instructions to make something "better", it's not specific enough. For instance: -> I like the fact that the FX is oversized. While it's not ideal for troops under 6', it's a great option for folks that are. I'd suggest being more open to selling helmet-less kits but also the option to buy a larger helmet. -> Please keep a larger one but change the following: -----Rounder cap, esp. front and back as seen from side -----smaller front mandibles -----smaller eyes -----ears could be a little more forward (minor) (I used this a guide for my suggestions) -http://web.ukonline.co.uk/bingo275/AugSept/FXAACRGFcf1.jpg -----please also keep the bucket symmetrical -> Changes to the kit -----provide accurate colored ab plate buttons for ANH/ESB (since this is what most folks do) -----provide blue tube stripes instead of black for ANH/ESB (since this is what most folks do) -----provide canvas belts instead of plastic, or at least a canvas cover -> The single back plate is nice, but I'd like to also see a seperate butt/kidney -> Adding more material on the ab/back(kidney) is a great idea. Skinny folks can trim it off, larger ones could sure use it. -> Personally I like the older original thighs. Perhaps having a set of "skinny" bucks and "larger" bucks for certain parts like thighs and biceps would help?
  13. I was talking to someone today about FX and how in some ways it's really not that bad. The subject got around to "if you could change FX, what would be tops on your list?" We're looking for constructive changes only - bashing posts will be deleted. Example: I'd change the helmet. Not the size, but the dome should be more rounded like in the movies.
  14. It's because you two are the only ones requesting with FX kits. Chazz & myself have ANH style armor which comes this way. Ed decided to go frankenarmor, e.g. he swapped out his FX back plate with a butt/kidney plate from an ANH armor vendor. Actually submission pix should show all the relevant details, e.g. including a back or side shot, so show that this mod has been made. As Scott says - don't give up! You're one mod away and it's looking great so far
  15. Just please tell me Mike that you're not going to use that FX bucket. Except as a pot for plants.
  16. Status update Kevin-Kim. Any other shots of that TK? Looks pretty good from the thumbnail.
  17. That's a pretty nice detail ala Tantive IV troopers, that is
  18. Hey Dish - in addition to Tony & Steve's site we have a bunch of tutorials here as well. There are some other variations you should consider: 1) Connecting the chest/back with white strap and leaving the plastic straps as cosmetic only. Glue just the fronts or velcro both front/back instead of using rivets 2) Using insertion buckles is in some areas nicer than pure snaps as they're more adjustable. This will be personal preference. 3) Whether to use cordura straps vs. stretchy straps. This is a personal pref difference. 4) Steve's recommendation to use a garter to hold up the thighs is definately a good choice and better than connecting it to your ab plate 5) I'd recommend not cutting the cod or butt plate until you've done a troop or two. For some it helps, others not. 6) Just in our own garrison take a look at the different rigs - I bet no two are alike.
  19. In short most of the derision of FX is not about the main suit per se but resides mostly with the helmet and the paucity of correct detailing that people put into their suit. Mike Harrison has a great explanation at-----------. It's probably the single best page describing the different armors on the Internet when it comes to comparing the various makes. FX is the least accurate of various armors that are 501st approved. Perhaps more responsible for it's derision is that what's included in the kit increases the inaccuracy of the suit. For instance only ROTJ stormtroopers had black ab plate buttons, yet black ab plate buttons are what ship with every FX kit. Only ROTJ stormtroopers had a single back plate (instead of a split butt/kidney), yet the FX comes with a single back plate. It's quite possible to make the FX kit look very good - at least to where the casual person can't spot it's inaccuracies, however this is not how the kit comes out of the box, thus is not how most people configure their armor. One of the missions of this detachment is to raise the quality bar for stormtrooper costuming and help those members who want to achieve it to do so.
  20. That's a precious pix! Can't wait for my daughter to start trooping with me Oh! The flag is rocking too - outstanding job - simply outstanding!
  21. Cleared - blast doors are now open. Post pix of your clone when you have time - curious to see which you did.
