  1. Between the two, RT is great in that it comes fully trimmed and is easy to put together, and may need less shimming. AP IMHO is a bit better looking esp. the helmet, but at that point it's really a personal aesthetic. My $.02...
  2. From tk4544 on this thread: ------- Okay, here's some pics of what I did. It's not the prettiest hack job, but it works great. Here's a pic of the first box, it's unmodded. Note that this box has the on/off switch: Here is a pic of the second, modded, box: I removed the on/off switch from the second box and soldered the red wire from the first box into the point where the on/off switch was connected in the second box (it's the little metal tab on the left of the pic). Then I connected the black (ground) wire from the first to the red from a 9V connector wire, and the red from the second box to the black from the 9V connector. That gives 12V output that I can hook up to the ROM/FX: No more changing batteries after 2 hours of trooping! Heck, I have been using the same batteries for the last 3 troops! :y: It helps to have a volt meter to check the output, in case you wire up something backwards (like I did the first time I tried this ), that way you can make sure you got it right and not risk frying your ROM/FX.
  3. Way to get back in the saddle - can't wait to see the new pix
  4. Nothing worse than a fisher or sockpuppet. Arthur, you just seem fixing for an argument. I think you already know the answer already but don't like it and are trying to push your point. Sorry, but it just comes across as rude. Well, point made. Everyone else agrees with the logic Jonah pointed out. This has been hashed about forever. Look, one of the reasons dets were created was to avoid the ignorant purchase, but as you know that's how almost all of us started out. One can argue all one wants about the "unfairness" of it but that doesn't change anything, and won't change anything. LFL is never going to make perfect armor, and to be honest there is no such thing as perfect armor, and even if there were it wouldn't be perfect for everyone. So fans will always make armor. Not everyone has the skills, so other fans will always want to buy it. Blah blah blah. You know I created this det so people wouldn't have to go through the same mistakes I (and you and others) did. And I've succeeded - the answers are all here if you look, just like taking the repeated advice we hand out to everyone to coordinate with their garrison works wonders too. But not everyone finds this place, and not everyone wants to be 501st, and not everyone really cares. Not everyone wants to be "saved". To each their own. We've done as much as we can in the 501st and this det to get people who are serious squared away. This is about as far as we can go w/o getting LFL's ire. 'Nuff said.
  5. Clearance granted Phil. Nice MG-15 you have in that one shot
  6. Sorry, the url's have been updated.
  7. Great to see a veteran of many engagements here. Welcome on station trooper!
  8. Alas, another lazy GWL. Get 'em to get your pix posted Jess, and welcome to FISD

    The 3000

Well, I've hit 3000 posts. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad. Maybe I spend too much time here? ;-) Guess I'll kick back and treat myself to a
  10. 'Bout frakking time - thought it would never happen! Cheers mate - congrats
  11. Now *that* is a status change request Welcome on station Peter!
  12. My favorite movie was the one I saw in '77 when I was 9 years old. It was called "Star Wars" and it came out two days after my birthday. I had spaceships, and a princess, and everything. Everyone wanted to be Luke or Han. If you didn't live through the phenomenon, it's really hard to fathom what it was like. I can't imagine a movie doing the same thing today.
  13. What the frak? Did every GWL in the Legion go on strike? Geez, I'm in the outer rim territories and our GWL rocks on this kind of thing. Maybe there are too many ROAD GWLs in these larger garrisons ;-)
  14. And post pix. I hope this works for you Jim - the weather is only going to get hotter as the summer comes on.
  15. I think it will be killer for parades. You can make the hose a drink tube, or else to just force air on those really hot parades The amount of research and attention to detail that John has put in to this is above and beyond. TK's will always be in your debt for this!
  16. I was rooting for NY so am happy of the outcome. Sorry NEP fans. The NY defense was the real star of the game. Too bad they don't couldn't give the MVP trophy to the whole defensive squad.
  17. Would love that. PM will be sent shortly...
  18. Don't! Say it! Say it! I have my own action item for Elite standards this year too
  19. I think our references esp. for Elite standards should be revisited for their needs, and correct forums/galleries set up. This will be a great 1QCY08 task for the new command team
  20. Yes, it will be a total respray. I have an existing TE2 stunt that I've been trooping with that I'd like to convert.
  21. Ideally no Hasbro, but for now it's OK. The belt/holster rig looks a treat.
  22. Whao! Fantastic grabs Terrell! We really should put these pix in a reference area if you're willing to share.
  23. Thanks guys. This is beyond my skills so I'll have to "subcontract" out the work, but at least I know it can be done. Good reminder about the ears too! Any takers - shoot me a PM.
  24. Is it feasible to convert a stunt to a hero helmet? If you filled in the extra teeth and smoothed them out? Or is the faceplate just very different? It would seem to me that like smoothing the bumps to make a bumpy cap n back smooth, one could fill in the extra teeth. Possible?
