  1. Great progress Mike!! As Scott said, that repair job looks great, it should polish up very nicely. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but did you imply that you have rivets in your sniper plate?
  2. Any blaster is acceptable for trooping, as no blaster is required for basic approval. Blasters are only required when submitting for EIB (Level Two) or Centurion (Level Three) here within the FISD. Per the (ANH Stunt) CRL: These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. E-11 Blaster For 501st approval: Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster. For level two certification (if applicable): Folding stock (does not need to function). A real or replica ammo counter - based off of a Hengstler counter - shall be present. D-ring mounted on the rear. Sterling based blasters have the correct M-38 or M-19 style scope. Two power cylinders on the magazine housing. Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast blasters shall have a total of 6 T-tracks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the magazine housing side uncovered). If using the Hasbro E11 toy blaster, it is modified to have the correct number of T-tracks (6 total), with a lower row of open vent holes on the magazine housing side. This is accomplished by covering the pre-existing rows of holes with T-tracks, then grinding off the lower integrated T-track on the magazine housing side, and drilling a new row of holes in its place. No ESB/ROTJ greeblies are allowed on the blaster. For level three certification (if applicable): Hasbro blasters are not allowed, even conversions.
  3. That's not a bad idea at all.
  4. Shins look awesome now, David. Nicely done. There... You've survived and corrected your first armor build gaffe. There's nothing you can't handle now!
  5. Hit my thread again, David. Take a look at the different pieces, and you should be able to see the calf differences. If not in my thread - which might be difficult to find - then either my EIB or Centurion threads will have pictures taken from the back in full armor. EDIT: Rob will trim the kit more cleanly if you tell him that you're going to be building with the butt join and cover strips, for EIB and Centurion. For future reference of anyone reading this and considering an RT-Mod Kit.
  6. Sigh... I've seen this name kicked around here and there, and never in a good way. Sorry to hear about this, Mark. Rest assured that "makerofthings" will now be a hot-button topic if it comes up here.
  7. That's a pretty apt description to how I was about it, too. LoL
  8. I just love the FISD, and the solutions that are collectively found for the "problems" that we run into. Great idea!!
  9. David, did you tell Rob that you wanted to build to EIB/Centurion? I know that my kit was not built for overlap, but that's based on my conversation(s) with Rob. There are indeed differences in the inner/outer and left/right calves. If they are indeed inner-inner and outer to outer, so long as you're using E6000 just stick them in the freezer overnight and pry them apart so that the proper parts can be assembled together.
  10. The Sniper plate is indeed challenging. Looking good though!! You may want to take a little more off of the wrist return edge based on what I can see in the one picture.
  11. Christopher, Everyone has the same type of anxiety that you're having while waiting for shipping and arrival. You can rest assured of that.
  12. How did I miss this?!?!? Apologies for joining the party so late, but Congratulations Tony!! Beautiful HWT!!!
  13. Do we have any links to the specific visual references that will be used for CRL development? I'm only asking because there seem to be more than a few "may" and "either/ors" in the current CRL draft. If this is to allow for level 2 and 3 approval with different standards, I understand that, but the CRL should be built in that capacity from the start if we're including options. For instance, are there reference materials that display both three and four bars on the ears? Are there references that show both smoke and green lenses? Should the lenses be flat or are there bubbles in any references? Are there references that imply U vs S trim? Do the references depict differing numbers of Tube Stripes, or are they consistent throughout? That's just some of the questions that can be raised about the helmet alone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be negative in any way, I think that the costume definitively belongs in the FISD, and that there is no other group capable of developing a viable CRL for it and giving it the recognition that it deserves, but I also feel it would be a dis-service to prospective members to issue a lesser CRL for basic approval and begin making multiple changes over time, resulting in the early kits becoming viewed in a negative light.
  14. I haven't personally used it yet, but I just received all of the components needed to begin using it within the last week. I originally wasn't very excited about the idea of having it, but after seeing it in action a few times decided that I had to have it, and bought myself a couple of micro MP3 players, an in-line audio amplifier, a speaker, and a micro SD card. I'll be installing the system in my back plate very soon, and can't wait to begin using it.
  15. Congratulations Andrew!!!! Welcome to the Centurion ranks! I believe the Star Garrison has increased our Centurion numbers by nearly 50% this month!
  16. It is the E6000, Evan. Freezer is the way to go, if you can do so.
  17. This, I've got to see. You're rocking the same sound board I've got, so I want to see what you've got to say about it!
  18. LoL.. Lance asked for Full Front, Full Back, and Bucket off (with weapon) so that's what I'll send. I don't expect any approval issues since they want "screen accurate" and I've just (FINALLY) completed Centurion. LoL. Should be pretty simple.
  19. Yeah, from reading last night, it looks pretty simple to get it done. I'll probably take pictures this weekend. So they're ready to post on Wednesday. I'll be there for the first weekend, and looking to March on Saturday morning. All I've got is my TK, so that will be it, and it's definitely been Trooped in since February first. LoL. I think that Lance said 170 was what they were looking for, and no theme days this year so TKs and CTs shouldn't be any real difficulty in getting slots. I'll definitely be there, hotel is booked, airfare is paid for, I'm already planning to ship the TK to my resort in advance and carry the bucket. Looking forward to seeing you there!
  20. Yeah, what Steve said. Those ears are really well done!!!
  21. I've been a member on the FLG Boards for quite some time now, since I lived closer to a lot of Parjai events than Alabama Garrison events and Florida is where we currently plan to retire. I've already posted my interest for the first weekend there! Looking forward to it!!
  22. Definitely looking good, Joe!!! Keep at it!
  23. Slow and steady is perfectly acceptable and advisable Kyle. Why don't you post up a picture of the problem area, so that perhaps you can get some advice on how to get the next one done right? Also, have you checked out Gazmosis' HOW TO on trimming the ears yet?
  24. There really isn't a preference by the Legion, some folks that request our appearances may make specific requests for certain characters, and that may happen eventually, but once accurate and acceptable kits are available I'm sure that they'll become more and more prevalent as time goes on.
