  1. Holy macaroni that looks great! Count me in if you're making a batch! Cheers
  2. I'm thinking about jumping the boat but I received a ridiculous shipping quote of 140 USD..? Isn't that a bit to much to get it to Sweden? If anyone who ordered before the 4th may decide to bail out please contact me instead and I might be willing to buy it from you. I'd rather get it for 350 then 450
  3. Hehe my thought exactly
  4. So I found this on E-bay..? Real or not? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Screen-Used-Star-Wars-Stormtrooper-E-11-Blaster-ILM-no-master-replicas-Sideshow-/171766509433?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_101&hash=item27fe14ef79
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it is one of Blaster 8266s blaster. He usually has a few batches per year. You can find him on MEPD as a member It is a really nice blaster and this is a really nice build. Good job and good luck with everything!
  6. And by E-11 i mean E-6000.... Damn all those blaster threads...
  7. Hi! Concerning the width of the cover strips this is mainly up to you. In the movie they were cut in haste to get ready in time. So anything in between the widths mentioned should be ok. As to the Glue E-11 is super easy to get of so it's not a big problem if there is a small spill. Good luck with the build! //Adam
  8. I also believe it depends on what plastic your armor is made of. I believe that more flexible plastics are more suitable since thicker plastics has a tendency to crack... Good luck with everything
  9. Oh.. And ofcourse welcome to fisd Please introduce yourself over at the introduction section. You will get lots of help from this board
  10. Some pics of the armor would help out alot. Post some and we'll tell you what you have Cheers
  11. It depends on which blaster you're looking at. T-21 and DLT-19 have some good vendors and threads over at mepd
  12. TD-12042 requesting 501st access http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=16717 Thanks!
  13. What Vern said is true but hey, if you enjoy sculpting stuff by all means do so. Although you might not get to the same level of screen accuracy as the armorers here (I'm not saying that you wont) the reward by simply looking at an armor knowing that You created everything should make it worth it. People here are hung up on authentisity (don't get me wrong that's a good thing) but if you think it's fun making "not as good" armors by all means I totally suport you. Good luck if you go all the way
  14. Hehe Personally I took pretty much everything of when i watched the Hobbit in suit. I probably could have had a few pieces on but the problems are that everything will be green, you will sound A LOT when you move even the slightest and mainly you will be too focused on other things so the movie experience might not be the best... With this said it is super cool to walk around in the armor before and after the movie but if you want to see the actual movie I would recommend taking it of. Good luck!
  15. I'm not sure what to think. My first instinct was of course recaster but I've seen him pop up and explained quite well. unfortunately he disappears a bit and as stated it is strange that he just doesn’t show the pics he has. I'd say recaster until he shows some more proof. To enlighten you some more here is a link to his thread on mepd he posted a month after we stumbled upon him on fisd. There are pics of his molds. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=12643#entry161109
  16. I was in the same situation as you a while back. I replaced the helmet with RS and that made the whole armor 10000 % better (seriously get rid of the helmet!) This means the armor itself is ok. I've modded my for a year now replacing the small details that I don't like and it turns out quite good actually. Just type in "FX first imperial stormtrooper detachment" in to google and 10 pages of great links will turn up. Good luck and have fun with the build. If you have any questions about modding it feel free to ask.
  17. Nice start! The arm issue should be an easy fix if you use the very handy and screen accurate 2" black elastic from bicep to forearm. This should give the forearm the needed lift and at the same time lower the biceps to the correct placement. Good luck with the mods
  18. Great looking lid you've got there! As mentioned the teeth could use some more trimming. The squareness (is that even a word? ) makes a lot of difference. And personally I like the low brow. It might not be as screen accurate but it does look better. Good luck with the rest of the build.
  19. Hi! I really doubt it being any noticeable difference whatsoever between the different versions and ATA does all of these except the ROTJ which is another suit entirely. CFO is the vendor to look for if you want that. I also believe you have to ask ATA to get the correct ears etc. if your going hero. Good luck with the research and build.
  20. Thanks Mac for the enlightenment. I can't wait for it!
  21. I've honestly never heard of that place and according to my quick search neither has fisd? I wont base this on any facts but I'm guessing it is a recaster who started a webpage and who is trying to get some customers. I'm saying this because that is what my experience tells me but I might be wrong so just wait and someone will come and prove me wrong or right soon.
  22. I would say the same as Eric and here's why.. There are many reasons for why everyone here are so much against E(vil)bay. It is of course mainly because you will end up buying total crap 99 % of the times but also because there is a huge risk that the pieces you find, that aren't total crap, are recasts. Normal people don't really care if they buy recasts because they find what they want for a small price but what they don't realize is that they pretty much stole the money from the original artist and handed them over to a person who hasn't done anything else then playing a fowl game and luring people. We in the 501st are SOO lucky to have so many great makers of armor out there. Without them non of this would be possible. We honestly have them to thank for everything. They are loyal to us and lay down there whole lives to create accurate armor obtainable by the public and In exchange for all this the least you can do as a customer is to ALWAYS buy directly from a maker or plausible secondhand from an other person/member if you are entirely sure that person bought it from legit sources. That's why you should NEVER buy armor parts from E-bay! Instead you should read some more. The RS armor is the best armor in the world (together with TM) and it might be a bit pricey but I promise you, if you buy it the problem won't be that you're to scared to wear it but it would be to get it of your head when you have to go to sleep If your looking for cheaper stuff ATA is probably the way to go. What ever you choose make sure to research A LOT before buying Good luck!
  23. Hi! cool little project you have going there. I'm going to follow it with interest. Regarding your question both types of helmets are accepted and I'm guessing the idealized one would be the best choice for you since it seems a lot easier to just copy one side. Welcome to the fisd BTW
  24. 2 years ago I barely knew the difference from a hero or stunt ARMOR... But hey! It shows how much you actually learn here Currently I'm taking it slow on the 501st front but I will soon be at it again I hope. I do know about that page but it was a long time ago since I checked it out so I think I'll go there now actually, thanks for the reminder
