Karin bringing it to the next level I think the FX is the easy one. AM I've never actually seen but I guess it looks like the FX. RT-mod is as you mentioned larger. ATA is somewhat smaller and has a distinguishable helmet but the rest I can't place correctly. TM and RS are pretty easily distinguished from the rest but I can't find a way of identifying which is which between them on a pic as the bumpy helmet isn't as clear. But I guess you never stop learning. No shortcuts only lots and LOTS of experience right?

Hi! As the topic says I wonder how you guys distinguish different armors from each other. I recognize a few of them just by looking at pics but for example AP, RS and TM are all very close to the original and thus they look pretty much the same (sorry if I just insulted someone ). Does all armors have some characteristic thing like the thighs on the FX or the bump on the RS lid or is it simply something you learn by browsing pictures for years? Distinguishing them in real life is one thing but when caught on camera many things get unclear thus identifying becomes a lot harder. How do you guys do it? //TheKido

Are you ever too old to Troop?
TheKido replied to DroidHunter's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
There was actually a poll made a few months ago about our ages. you can find it here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24466-how-old-is-the-typical-trooper/ It turns out as expected that the average age is around 40 and I believe the reason being that those where the ones who were lucky enough to see the original trilogy on the theater and grew up with the whole Star Wars madness. But heck if you can stand you can troop and if you can't you can simply trim your wheelchair and become a Sidious with a rolling throne -
I'm afraid they don't make assembly instructions to go with the kits. However the tutorials here should be way more than enough and if you really need one on paper form I believe trooperbay sells instructions at least for the helmet and they also make videos if I'm not mistaken. Cheers

I absolutely love it! If i had the talent I would seriously try to make an armor out of this although I would probably play a bit with the colors

Sandtrooper Build Question
TheKido replied to Cantina Security's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
As already mentioned they are both awesome armors and they do the TD details so buy which ever one you like the most -
Thanks! That's what I thought

Just to make thins clear, are you speaking about the shoulder bridges? I have a hard time understanding how a piece of elastic could get cracks and snap.
-
Hey that's why you trim them and if they still don't fit you can simply put padding inside Good luck!

Talk to Paul I bought from him. He's a member here nick Troopermaster just send PM

Hi! I'm 17 y/o and I got my armor about a year ago. I was in the same position as you are now and decided that I knew what was best and bought the first cheap thing I could get my hand on... Please don't do that... As every one has already mentioned the key word is research, research and research a bit more. If I would have gotten a second chance I would so totally research before buying. If you research enough everything else will just work out fine. I know the position you are in with nearly no money but with a fair amount of spare time. If you research and find the right kit (ATA, TM, RS, AP...) you could get a great armor for not that very much (still a fair share though since this is an expensive hobby). So moral of story RESEARCH! Good luck and feel free to ask

TheKido replied to TheKido's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Have you personally tried this or do you know someone who has? Will it be possible to have both a short part of the march (50 sec) and than also have the blast sound so you can use both with only this one recording thingy and switch between them wit ha switch? Thanks for the help -
Creating basic sound system for blaster
TheKido posted a topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Hi! I bought an E-11 kit just recently and was thinking of assembling it with electronics. The only problem is that I know pretty much nothing on the subject. I "only" want a good blaster sound, a few LED lights and preferably to be able to play the SW theme. The arduino thing seems pretty complicated and have more things than I would like. My question is simply what other opportunities do I have? Could some one please lead me in the right direction or tell we how I would be able to create something like that? Any help would be much appreciated. //Adam -
Here you go. All cred to Steve.

Hi! There are quite a few who repaint their whole armor, I haven't done it yet but I'm planning on doing it. I started a post on paining a few months ago and got a great answer which I could post here if I find it. Good luck

Hi! Since the original armors were put together in a hurry there were no time for details thus there are no ideal place to put the rivets. What is said on the CRL is the best info out there. place them evenly about 10 mm from the outer edge. If they happen to land a few mm to far down or to far from the edge it doesn't really matter. Hope this helps! //Adam

Hey! If you didn't know it already the armor you got there is an FX which was the main armor (and pretty much only one) on the market ten years ago and all though they are not at all as good as today's armors they are ok and if you mod them a bit they are both wearable and approvable. BUT and this is the big but except some small things you should invest in a new bucket. It is still excepted for basic approval but replacing it is well worth the effort. If you replace that part and mod the rest you can actually get a pretty decent armor. I walked down the exact same path as you just did a year ago so if you PM me I can send pics of all the mods that I have done which really boosted the appearance of the armor (and made it more comfortable to wear). Good luck //Adam

I believe that John is making a run in mid November so the waiting list for the romfx doesn't necessarily have to be so long.

Any pics would be nice
-
Hi! The right one looks a lot larger than the left one but that might simply be because of the angle so some more pics would be great
-
Hi! First of I just want to tell you that I did the exact same thing with the armor. It is a bit irritating but you learn to live with it (sort of). Anyway to the question. I'd say it depends mainly on how you define working hours. Just building, gluing and sewing pieces I'm looking at maybe 30h the past year and if you count all the time on research that are directly linked to the building process I'm probably up to... lets say 200 - 300 hours. However I have done many upgrades that are not required and furthermore I am in no hurry whatsoever since I still have 5 months... But if you have a trimmed FX with all the pieces you need I'd say that it will be very much possible to get a functional armor ready if you have done all research and know how to work beforehand. If you haven't done your homework I would say that it might be possible but then your on a tight schedule Good luck with the build and please PM me if you have a question concerning the armor

Thanks very much for this Steve. I will try to reread it a few times to take it all in. How durable is it if you do everything right?
