  1. Hi! I have a few questions regarding painting the whole armor. As it is today my pieces really don't match each other color wise. I've replaced many parts and some of my original parts have started yellowing so this has become very noticeable. I've read older posts where people are both for and against the painting process and my questions are, why shouldn't I paint? what paint should I use? Will it stay in place? Will it affect the possibility to turn it sandy later? and how will the color age? If it makes any different it is ABS. Thanks for help
  2. Can we see pics of the armor and the problem? Might be easier that way and also we might find an easier solution.
  3. Honestly I believe everyone have this problem some way or another. I fixed it the same way as the original troopers and most of the people here I believe with, just as vern said, a chin strap and foam. If you haven't got any trooperbay is selling the SA things for 15$ http://trooperbay.com/yellow-foam-helmet-liner-and-straps/ good luck
  4. I love it great work
  5. I'm really glad you and your armor is ok and I can't wait til the kids are caught As a kid I KNOW that there is a great lack of dicipline in many kids from my generation.. unfortunately
  6. Awesome lidd and only 64£ what a bargin ^^
  7. I love to experiment! It doesn't matter if it works out or not, the majority of the times things don't even turn out nearly as I first thought... HOWEVER once in a while I have a brake through and everything turns out perfect.. Unfortunately this is not one of those times.. I know there is a great tutorial out there on how to make perfect return edges with a heat sealing iron but since I'm on a budget and like to experiment I thought "You don't need an iron for that" It turns out that, "Yeah you probably do.." But you learn from mistakes so I'll post this NOTDO.. The tutorial of how to NOT make return edges with a candle, baby knife and a whole lot of nail polish. My thought was quite simple, I heat the knife and put it where I want a return edge and press Expectation Ok so it wasn't entirely a failure but with a hobby iron it would look tons better.. I did however save a few dollars and with some sandpapering I will probably get it to look ok But to conclude this is probably not a very good way of fixing the return edges although I'm not very skilled or handy it will be hard to get this to the same level as a hobby iron. Note also that the plastic is flammable and don't do what I did "Oh look a hedgehog, lets focus on the hedgehog and entirely stop thinking about the chest plate hovering a few millimeters over the candle" It did create a quite realistic laser burn though Cheerios
  8. This really shows how this hobby attracts all kind of people and how it lets two or even three generations come together to do something they love, It's wonderful really
  9. Dennis- Hi! I think i spoke to him yesterday if you mean Oscar? He beat me to it by one year
  10. (I also took the liberty to look through 100 pages (it was actually on page 100) on the board for finding the last age check and back in 2008 when that poll was done the age was roughly 34.5 years which would be 2 years less than today which makes sense )
  11. I don't think there will be many more votes to the poll so I'll finish by determining that an average trooper is roughly 13288.9 days young with leap years accounted for. Live long and prosper
  12. Jason- My aim is actually to get it SWAT accepted on my birthday but that might be a bit too optimistic
  13. Jason- Well there is actually a minimum age of 18 to join the ranks so I believe i must wait 7 months until I can start trooping for real. At least this will give me some time to actually finish my TD (I'm a really slow builder) Brian- That is pretty much what I accepted since those where the people who grew up when the trilogy was released. Right now the typical trooper would be 35.7 years old according to the poll but since I haven't got any exact ages I believe it should be a little more actually.
  14. Nice to hear that there are more people out there who can keep this hobby going. I actually purchased an FX armor from Blocket (the equivalent of E-bay here in Sweden) a while back before I found FISD and MEPD (A perfect example of our lack of patient). And just like you I have the problem with time and money. Many of my friends (and both parents) call me insane and keep telling me that it is a waste of time and money building a white plastic man but they don't understand that this is a huge interest and hobby. The joy my armor has given me this past years totally covers the cost in both time and money. My secret is prioritizing, I don't spend much on other things no car, no games and since the school is free up here and since I still live at home I manage to save enough for the hobby. When it comes to time it was pretty easy for me. I was addicted to video games and spent most of my evenings in front of the computer. And well if we put it like this I haven't played a game since October To summarize this hobby is awesome and I'm so glad my math teacher got me into it. It has also taught me to be patient (most times) and got rid of my addiction to video games. Way to go (And I think my education would be the equivalent of upper secondary school or something )
  15. Hi! This is just one small question I have been wondering about for quite some time. As I'm only 17 I know that most of you are older than me (Which is completely logical since the empire would be fools if they were to employ kids to guard the death star (however it would explain a few things) ) but my question is simply "how old is the typical trooper?" Please just fill in the correct age in the poll (If it is working? ) Cheerios!
