Latest update.. picked up a pair of tin snips at ACE hardware today, because the little pair of lexan scissors were killing my hands. So after marking my pencil lines and lightly scoring the marks - i use the scissors to cut vertically to the scoreline.. the the pieces just break off pretty simply. Not a TON of progress but every piece rough trimmed is one less in the "to be trimmed" box - and one more in the "getting closer to assembly pile" Again - these are rough sanded.. Back Plate: Kidney (After test fit - i also realized that I will be needing to cut the seam down the back to fit. Seems to be the norm) Shoulder Yoke Chest Plate: Ab Plate: Right thigh: Thats it for now

For example- do mine (shins pictures above) do they seem to rounded ?

Perfect explanation- thanks so much. I think that's the route I'll go as well, now- back to the show

Quick question about the devcon plastic welder. I'm FAR AWAY from assembly in my build having just stared trimming- but have to say that your build thread is a huge source of inspiration that I CAN DO THIS I've always used E6000 for its forgiveness and flexibility. My question is with the plastic welder - does it cure flexible or brittle? On the pieces that have to flex for dressing- does the welder seem to dry where it could crack over time? Thanks again for the great documentation

I'll take you up for SURE Ken - might put you to work a little after the troop on Saturday So I tried using a dremmel to make some of the larger cuts, but 1) i was extremely nervous about doing so and 2) my little harbor freight dremmel was really struggling to make progress through this thick plastic. My weapons of choice are my Lexan scissors, a small utility knife (score and snap) and a dremmel for some light clean up. I will go back and do a better clean up later - but here is my progress so far: more to come

That moment when you realize... "What did I get myself in to ?!?! and HOW ON EARTH DID THEY PACK ALL THAT IN THAT LITTLE BOX
-
So upon first inspection, WOW!! This is some thick, high quality ABS! I'm very impressed and I've only pulled the first two pieces out.... I can see sore hands in my near future after inventory is checked- I'll post up trimming progress

After what feels like an ETERNITY of waiting - I'm happy to bring you ANOTHER TFA build thread. It's not at all sad to know I worked from home today just so I could greet the FEDEX driver with a huge SMILE!

That said- I must unbox- and begin trimming!

Congrats- great looking build ! -
I really like this idea!- question, do you find that getting your hands and a screwdriver of some sort into the bucket difficult? I have larger hands and between padding fans etc.. Feel like screwing those lenses into place would be tough

Watching closely! Very detailed, excited to see it come together

Great luck with the app! Can't see any mods needed- fantastic build!, -
My goodness people- if you are THAT Leary- pull your money out and put it somewhere that you trust. OR spend a little more and wait to see what the kit is- and buy it then- OR Dont. Everything to now is SPECULATION- Most people on these boards know reputation goes a long way and a lot of time puts their money somewhere where they will have to wait a long time to get the product - and trust that's it's what they expect. Posting thoughts in this forum does nothing.

I concur! Great looking build! Love the hand painted job on the helmet, looks very good and detailed. The above note is correct - on your right shin, you will want that opening to overlap to the inside- not the outside. A few small easy fixes- at some point you'll want to use flat head screws on your TD, not Phillips. I read that you were struggling with the back plate sticking out to far away from your back. This may not resolve it but it might help: you left a LOT of return edge on the top of your cod piece. This, making he armor stand away from your body on the front - doesn't allow the chest piece to lay flat- which makes you have to compensate by pushing it backwards. Leaving a lot of space on the back plate Now if you move it all forward a little it might make how the back plate and kidney piece come together change- butttttttt- it might be worth a try. Excellent build- it's a great feeling to get it al suited up for the first time!! -

Hard lens installation idea....
Pencap510 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Ironically enough Joseph - I had been looking for a solution to this very problem. I had originally used very small strips of sticky velcro at the bottom, and top two corners of each of my lenses. During the SWW troops- I found that the extreme heat was causing the "sticky" part of the velcro to fail and started sliding--- making the velcro visible from outside my bucket. This seems like a perfect solution! Question- is it reusable? -
So does the armor itself seem weak or flimsy there? Or is it just a really high stress area when suiting up ?
