  1. Completely doable. Having done this three times (and likely to start on a fourth soon), the biggest challenges will be adjusting for the differences in height, hips/butt, and bust size. There is a great thread that "BoboJuice" put together that addresses the challenges of adapting TK armor to the female form. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27077-howto-modifying-armor-for-women/
  2. I'm in the Washington D.C. area. I ordered on April 20th. Wasn't expecting it for at least another month (or longer due to the aftereffects of Jonas), but it arrived yesterday.
  3. That's a good question for Tony (ukswarth) since as one of the FISD Deployment Officers he approves EI and Centurion awards. I would head over to his build thread and ask him.
  4. Wow. Clearly their estimated shipping dates based on tiers and sub-tiers are all over the place.
  5. I'm Facebook friends with Karin. I thought she was back (after taking a hiatus). Hell, with all the ANOVOS kits coming and none of them having the latex handguards required for EI or Centurion - she stands to make a killing.
  6. You could always order a helmet kit from ATA, MTK, TM, RS, AP, etc. and build it out yourself. Build it to ESB specs and you are well on your way to a second trooping option.
  7. I am SO looking forward to being able to see this in person!
  8. And here is my email and the response to it:
  9. Carefully sanding off the overspray (using a fine grit sandpaper so as not to unduly scratch up the plastic) is actually a great idea.
  10. I would add the gray triangle as you stated, and I would dab some white paint on the inner teeth to correct for the gray overspray - the gray paint should not touch the inner lips. Both are small things, but once you see them actually applied the difference in appearance will really stand out.
  11. Ultimately 501st approval for OT TKs is decided at the local level, with the CRLs and other resources used as tools to help in their decision making. Having said that, if *I* was a GML (Garrison Membership Liaison - the local garrison officer who makes the call) I would reject any helmet that doesn't have the frown corrected to look as it should - especially since it's so easy to do.
  12. I'd also love to get my hands on an authentic neckseal - so much so that I sent the guys at Extreme Racing (since they made the screen-used TFA undersuits) an email asking if they would add these to their lineup. We'll see what they say.
  13. There is nothing special about the TFA trooper neckseals - at least not with the ones that came with the ANOVOS kits. A standard TK neckseal will do just fine.
  14. When the average person thinks of a stormtrooper, it's ANH Stunt that immediately comes to mind - even if they aren't deep enough into the fandom to know to call it that. The ANH Stunt trooper from THE original Star Wars movie is the quintessential stormtrooper.
  15. It does. Watch the unboxing video that's the subject of another thread here, and you'll see them.
  16. Thanks for posting this. Looking at this photo, it appears that you can correct the squared-off frown on the Anovos lid simply by adding a dab of grey paint at either end.
  17. I was under the impression that the kits would come fully trimmed. Not a huge deal and the well-defined cut lines certainly help, but it does mean more work will be required to get to the finish line.
  18. I'm 6'1" but around 220lbs. I'd say that based on your height you should go with an XL.
  19. From the CRL: Gloves For 501st approval: •Black in color, made of either rubber, nomex, leather, or leather-like material, with no visible straps or logos/designs. The fingers are enclosed, non-textured. For level two certification (if applicable): •Gloves shall be rubber or rubber-like chemical gloves, in black. http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt For basic 501st approval, pretty much any plain (no visible logos or designs) black glove that extends past the wrist will do. Nomex gloves of the sort worn by military types are a popular choice. For higher levels (Expert Infantry and Centurion) you will want black chemical gloves. They can be uncomfortable to wear, so you'll also want cotton undergloves to wear underneath them and to absorb sweat from your hands.
  20. First off, two questions: (1) What version of TK are you doing? (2) How accurate do you want to be?
  21. Interesting, indeed. The maker appears to be trying to fill the gap between detailed-yet-fragile (resin) and less detailed-yet-indestructible (hyperfirm). As for the quality, for me it's hard to tell from those photos. But perhaps an E-11 expert such as Vern will chime in.
  22. Here is what the helmet should ideally look like: http://starwarshelmets.com/original-ANH-Stunt-Stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm
  23. Based on the photos I've seen of the Jedirobe helmet, I would say it isn't.
  24. You can make a third by using some scrap plastic from your build. Just cut it into a square shape of the correct size, heat it up so that it's soft, and use a disc of the needed size to press an indentation in it.
