A lot of us wish we could say we were too skinny. At least you won't need side gap plates. Can you tuck the sides of the back plate behind your ab plate and secure with industrial velcro? I'd try this before trimming. That way, if your metabolism ever slows down, you can just extend out your mid section. Congrats on the arrival of your new AP kit.

I'm 5'08". I wish I was a little taller because I get that "Aren't you a little short to be a Stormtrooper?" comment on practically every troop. Not to mention that the other TKs in my Garrison seem to all tower over me in group photos.

Congratulations & welcome to the Elite. -
I use Tandy Leather Factory Line 24 Snaps. They have a very strong hold. They come in packs of varying quantities. Here is a link to one of their kits that's available at Tandy Leather retail stores as well as at Michael's craft stores: ----- In my experience, the type Wal-Mart sells unsnap too easily when you don't want them to.

TK-5401 Requesting ESB Elite Status! [APPROVED] 2nd
TK-9820 replied to ThayNerd's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
I feel like I've been asleep at the wheel. How could I have missed this? Congratulations Thayne! That ESB setup looked sweet on last Saturday's troop. -
A pair of thin cotton gloves worn under the black neoprene rubber chem gloves keeps my hands somewhat tolerable to sweat. Your whole body, from head to toe, can get swampy even during a short troop, so no body parts are really spared. I just prefer the look of rubber gloves. I'm also broke most of the time, so the purchase of nomex gloves gets put on the backburner.

Darrel, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope your family and friends are providing you with all the love and support you need during this truly difficult time. If you need more, just reach out and you'll find it here.

Same here. Furthermore, I've got to go with the original versions of the original trilogy because HAN SHOOTS FIRST! Sebastian Shaw sits better with me as the Spirit of Anakin at the end of ROTJ too.

Another MR CE with that cool padding from D-MAC and lenses from Smitty. Interior was painted with Plasti-Kote.

Congratulations! Welcome to the Elite. -
I use the same Home Depot gloves. I wear thin cotton gloves underneath for sweat control. Here's a pic with the packaging so others will know what to look for: I carry thin, black latex hospital type gloves in my armor crate as back-ups. I actually needed them on a recent troop because I left one chem glove at home.

Thanks for the decals Scott. They are so cool looking. They arrived 3 hours before the big launch party for The Force Unleashed in San Francisco. I had something nice to mark my armor container.

No worries about the delay. Hope things are getting better every day at home. Thanks so much for doing what you do. Now I'll be keeping an eye on the mailbox.

Looking for smaller chest & back plate.
TK-9820 replied to SithTrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
If you can't find a shorter chest plate, you can mod an FX chest plate to better fit you. This is what I did for mine: 1) I heated the the upper part with a heat gun and bent the shoulder straps back. I rested the piece on an upholstered dress form to mold it uniformly. 2) I shaved about an inch off the neckline. I think there are pictures of this in my member photo gallery. (If the gallery still works) The next thing to do is trim the lower edge of your chest plate and give it a return. Haven't done it yet, but I plan to. There is a popular tutorial in the how-to section. Hope this helps. -

Thank you very much for the Elite status approval. It's truly an honor. I totally forgot to take an action shot, so I had a great excuse to suit up again. Sure Scott, I'll ship the blaster to you...in exchange for a decomished Sterling. -

My TK number is my badge number in reverse.

I think one Rebel Pilot, "dbuck." He'll be greatly outnumbered by TKs.

I'll be there on Saturday Thayne. I think I signed up under RL to go as EP 3 Anakin before I officially got into the CCG. I'll suit up in my armor for the next hospital visit. Looking forward to it!

If this helps, let's keep this in mind. Most of these kids have more hope and optimism bundled up in their pinkie toes than in the entire body of an average Joe. That's what makes them stronger than any of us could strive to be. One of our purposes is to add a little joy to the mix.
