  1. Closed side gaps and white canvas belt: Gray and blue ab buttons made from 1/4" Tandy screw posts: Separated butt plate: Holster attachment without and with E-11 blaster: Tapered FX thighs, shin/calf pieces and CA boots:
  2. Here are my photos for ANH Elite status consideration. They begin with overall photos and will go, more or less, from head to toe to blaster. Thanks for looking. Overall pics: MR CE helmet with the following mods: -Chopped down ears with three machine screws in each -Replacement blue tube stripes -Replacement emerald lenses by Smitty (eyes not visible in the photo even with flash) -Filed teeth with mesh screen installed -Filed and filled chin seam No-rivet shoulder straps and self-made neck seal: AP shoulder bells: Neoprene rubber gloves with textured fingertips:
  3. Haaa! I get the hint, Thayne. I gotta take those close-up pics and sort the others this weekend for sure and then send in the elite application. I spent too much time steaming the jedi suit and dolling up my wig for this event.
  4. My TK number is my badge number in reverse.
  5. I think one Rebel Pilot, "dbuck." He'll be greatly outnumbered by TKs.
  6. I'll be there on Saturday Thayne. I think I signed up under RL to go as EP 3 Anakin before I officially got into the CCG. I'll suit up in my armor for the next hospital visit. Looking forward to it!
  7. If this helps, let's keep this in mind. Most of these kids have more hope and optimism bundled up in their pinkie toes than in the entire body of an average Joe. That's what makes them stronger than any of us could strive to be. One of our purposes is to add a little joy to the mix.
  8. I believe the mod Smitty was talking about and the one I intend to do involves reducing the downward arc of the lower left and right corners. I think they would look a little more AP style this way. If I'm off Smitty, let me know. I had to shave off some length from the top and re-shape the shoulder arches to bring the plate above the ab buttons. I have a short torso, I think. I photo-documented this process in my FISD member photo gallery.
  9. I did a combo of button snaps and velcro on a home-made, adjustable suspender rig. I used an elastic cross-strap in the back and an adjustable cross-strap in the front for stability. All of the buckles and tri-glides are from REI. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DVbucket/Costumes/Stormtrooper/IMG_2870.jpg -----------
  10. The chest plate mod is next. I'll get more use out of that hobby iron. The thighs took a lot of trial and error (and first degree burns--still love that heat gun though). Someday, I'd like to swap them out with AP or TE ones when I get more costume $. I don't get to try out the new gear this weekend for TCW events...Mrs. TK-9820 is working, so I'm on kid watch.
  11. Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. I could not have done this without the several hours of research and help I got from everyone here. This site is outstanding because of what every member puts into it. It was a 5 month process due to my ability to only work in small increments. I'll be taking more close-up detail photos soon for Elite status. I'll double check the requirements first. Thanks for the welcome to the CCG Thaynerd.
  12. TK-9820 reporting for duty. Status: rookie. Here's my heavily modded FX lite kit with AP shoulder bells, modded MRCE helmet, maker of things resin blaster and self-made leather holster. Belt is white canvas. Butt plate has been separated. Side gaps are closed with ABS panels. Ab buttons are gray and blue. Front, side, and rear views: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...ics/TKfront.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...ics/TKright.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...Pics/TKleft.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...Pics/TKrear.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...cs/IMG_3429.jpg MRCE helmet details: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...cs/IMG_3428.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...cs/IMG_3413.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...cs/IMG_3418.jpg Holster: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV...er/IMG_2943.jpg E-11 blaster: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91/DV.../IMG_3431-1.jpg Any critique or comments would be appreciated so I can keep working on this.
  13. TK-9820 requesting 501st status please. http://www.501stlegion.org/members/display...php?userID=9499
  14. If you paint the inside of a MR CE helmet black, will it eliminate the need to swap out lenses for darker green ones? This would be for the purposes of 501st application process. I used matte black Plasti-kote and it seemed to give the effect of darkened lenses in various lighting conditions. My other completed mods on this helmet so far have been: 1) filed down mold join along the frown/jaw area 2) filled in jaw gap 3) chopped down ears 4) added new blue tube stripe decals Any thoughts would be appreciated. Sorry if this question is redundant. I might have missed the answer somewhere.
  15. Thanks for the info. I re-did the bottom to open it up. I also replaced the 4-5 oz leather straps with 6-7 oz leather straps in a darker tan. There are now black, rectangular leather pieces under the rivet caps.
  16. I made this holster this afternoon for my nearly finished TK project. It was made to fit a resin E-11 that shows up from time to time on the big auction site. I dyed and sealed 4-5 oz cowhide leather, hand-stitched it, and added tan straps that will attach under my canvas belt with screw posts. Got some questions to throw out to the veterans: 1) Do the proportions look ok? (I based it off a screen capture of the one Mark Hamill wore) 2) Are there supposed to be rivets on any of the corners where the stitching is? 3) For future 501st and Elite status consideration, does it matter if the straps are tan or black? I can tweak this thing after getting some feedback. Anything helps. Thanks for looking.
  17. I' m finally getting around to starting my neck seal this weekend. Anyone know of a pattern for the hero version (higher in the back)?
  18. I went with clamps for the ends. I put a steel ruler along the underside and put hard drive magnets on the other (out)side. I put two layers of electrical tape under the magnets with vinyl layer to prevent scratching. Worked out nicely.
  19. I just ordered my size 9 Caboots on May 20th. Any idea how long it will take for me to receive them in California assuming the size is in stock?
  20. I'm thinking about making my own neck seal. Is there some sort of general consensus on how many ribs there are and what diameter the tubular ribbing material is?
