The Modded Hasbro Toy Blater
TK8280 replied to TK8280's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Yes, but you can see the difference though right..personally I think that the blaster sound which is cool I mite add, takes away the mystique from the weapon itself ...When you are on a troop I would think that we are suppose to give off a persona that we are TK's, but thats just me -

I know about the FX armor being innacurate but, I do not think that the FX armor should be gotten rid of, because there are those of us who do not have the body type or head size of the Skinny 1970's english guy's that were in the original movie I know you don't have the final say in this Scott, we all do -

TK8280 replied to TK8280's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
yeah its an AP helmet I'm going to rivet it through the upper lip on either side, then put velcro on the face of the shin to keep it away from the upper shin so it angles out away from the upper thigh so it does not catch underneath it...I hope this is not too confusing ...I will take pictures when I get a chance -

I guess that can be put up for discussion. Yes this is what I have tried to start with this topic, I want it to be a discussion though and not to turn into an argument Keep in mind that the idea here is to create that accurate look, Yes the accurate "look" is the key to the tittle of Elite status, but if we are not allowed to cut corners with our armor, how come we can cut corners with the blaster? but maybe not totally eliminate the ability to achieve that goal. In my opinion, This requirement does not totaly eliminate the ability to achieve The issues I had when I got my Elite status was the requirements are defined, but can also be interpreted several ways. So, I would think that this would be a great start as to specifying the terms for elite status Now, I would ask, do we want to set the bar so high that it requires every trooper to know the intricate details of every piece of every suit? I don't know, I am merely asking the question. If you eliminate the modded Hasbro blaster, you remove what 90% of all TK's have as their arsenal. Again, the same could be true of the FX bucket, heck even the FX armor itself if you want to go that far. I will be the first to admit my FX is not the most "screen-accurate" armor there is, This has nothing to do with the FX Helmet I personally feel that the amount of work I have put into my armor (and my blaster), made me appreciate the art of costume making more than if I had just bought an accurate set right out of the box. If we get to the point that the only way to achieve Elite Status is to buy the most accurate armor that can be found, then the modding and hard work someone puts into their armor to make it accurate becomes unnecessary and no longer an option. It might also simply make the goal of attaining Elite Status so difficult it rarely happens. I would need to verify but, at least 4 Elite trooper requests are FX. Do we really want to ge there again Scott?...this discussion is about the blaster it has nothing to do with the armor...that will be left for the future I would think, rightr now lets stick to the blaster please I am just the guy that enforces the standards and grants Elite Status. Yes! and you do a great job at it, thats why I am glad you are apart of this discussion because you are on the front lines of deplyment status -

One of the main reasons I braught this up was becaus this item was left open in the deployment standards so to speak, but I think that us veterine FISD members have been here long enough and highly educated in the art of the original TK's to actually make a sound judgement on this topic -

A modded hasbro blaster is fine to troop with, but however this is about the submission for aproval of "elite" status...I think that the Hasbo toy is just convenient to get but does it really look "good enough"? -

Yes, it is out there...it just has to be found ..I think that the FX Helmet should not be written out due to people having larger heads, but this is about the modded Hasbro Blaster...besides after you spend X amount of money on the toy blaster, then X amount of money on the conversion kit...it is about the same cost as a resin kit at the least ...and with the hasbro well, its still a hasbro and will never look any better <_< -
Well my white armor brothers, I have a question to ask all of you...Our elite standards suggest that your armor and equipment has the same "look" as if you walked out of the film, But I ask you, If we painstakingly make our armor as close to screen accurate as possible, shouldn't the blaster also be as screen accurate as possible too? Just a thought

Ok, my GGG Brother, I am going to sound like a Hard a$$ right now, but I am not pointing these things out because I'm trying to be mean...The Ab buttons look a little big , and how did you attach your TD to your belt? -
I don't know if they would use live action, I believe ILM would do allot of Computer graphics for the TV series like they used for the new movies (this is why clone armor is SO hard to build), I also don't think GL would cast from the legion, I troop for LFL, and there is a screaning process involved, Hight and weight standards, plus legal documents that you have to sign for privacy of the people I have seen and interacted with...Plus with the experiences that I have had with LFL's actor, as apose to some legion members, I think the TV series would be better off with actual actors

TK-8280's ROTJ Armor Build[*FX]
TK8280 replied to TK8280's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
After all the work I have put into this FX kit, I decided that it will NEVER look ROTJ , its just way too incorrect , so, I purchased an AP kit and am in the process of putting it together, while at the same time putting my clone armor together, i'm planning on having the AP ROTJ done really soon, I believe the AP has the best ROTJ look, because thats what it was casted off of Just a side note anbout the AP armor...It is EXTREEMLY easy to work with...all of us TK's and TK hopefulls have it so easy with the armor selection we have -
Welcome to the FISD Patrick! where do you live? if you live in the UK, I'd say go for Johns SDS armor, and or TM's armor, ap would be the least expensive to chop down to your size while at the same time still having an accurate movie "look"...But AP is good for people who live North America because of the shipping costs...over sease, TM is the way to go as for armor kits in my opinion...with out paying the full price for an SDS...but, John D. has a whole SDS for sale right now for a VERY reasonable price...so your options are out there

Ah another elite ANH good work there! -
Yes, I think that what it all boils down to these days and the popular opinion of this forum is to buy armor that best suits your body type rather than buying the FX for its convenience...even if you did acquire a set of FX it would run about 500.00 + then if you had a head small enough to fit in the more accurate helmets, it would set you back at least another $250.00, so, I would think that it would make more sense to buy a more accurate armor from the get go if you could fit into it that is...because there isn't muck of a price difference now a dayz just my 2 credits

After reading several topics over the last year, I have noticed a trend in the purchasing of armor...Alot oof the concerns we have had on these boards comming from the "New People" is how hard is it to put together? But is TK armor really that hard to assemble? No matter what the make is, the most you would have to do is trim it, paint it, then fit it to yourself in my opinion...but thats just me If you all have any more choices that I forgot, please feal free to add them PLEASE Give me your feed back as to your opinions on each sets, because we don't all own everything Personally I think that the TE-2 would be the most difficult TK to assemble, but, no where difficult as puttin together clone armor

Need help fitting armor for short guys
TK8280 replied to kiyotei's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
the AP kit is not that hard all you have to do is take the time to trim it, then glue it together, then trim it again to your size -
I made my own, but I basically put mine dead center also
-
TE armo was made buy "Trooper Expert" but he sold the molds and they are in the hands of TE-2 now who makes and sells the sets
-
aw, TM isn't that expensive, especially if you live over there
