So what happens if I apply for Centurion minus blaster (as it's optional). Do I then have to reapply as a whole when my blaster is ready? Can I ever troop with a blaster that isn't of the same CRL?
-
I wondered if I could add to this as I have a slightly related enquiry regarding blasters and the CRL. While I understand that blasters are not required, is it ok to mix, for instance, rotj centurion armour and a basic, ANH, E-11? I suppose I ask as I have no experience at all about scratch building a blaster, and no idea about even finding machinists to help me - but I do have a doopydoos kit that can easily be made to look AHN, ESB or even semi-ROTJ. I'm tempted to just assemble the blaster as is for general use and then spend the next year or so really getting into a rotj E-11 thanks!

My head swims. It's funny, before I started this, I didn't expect the gun to be the biggest thing to deal with!
-
Yes, a good point and something I know nothing about - something else added to my reading / research list
-
Hmm can't see it on .uk or .com. Not to worry. Centurion ROTJ certainly seems like one of the biggest challenges

I must admit after a lot of reading and comparison to my (recieved) Doopys kit, i feel like my greatest hurdle is the removal / grinding down the tracks along the barrel - not somehting I have any way to do at all currently, unless anyone knows of walk-in shops or the like that could do it?

Oh really? I didn't know. Their "main" undersuit site seems well regarded and, I have to say, their suit, balaclava and holster are all nice... just the neck isn't

dm101 Doopys E11 Blaster Build
kaa1304 replied to dm101's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
What a thread. I got my doopydoos yesterday and did exactly the same thing - took it all out and wondered where the instructions were! -
Everything I've seen in the UK seems to average out at about 35.00 pounds
-
Thats very cool mate and yes, mine is very rigid and has no real "give" in it. ---------
-
Well, you know, starting as I mean to go. That said, I'm not sitting here in a body suit and balaclava haha.
-
Hmm. Well this sucks a little. Thanks though.

Hi there Wondered if anyone else found this (and please note - I don't have my helm yet so don't know if it's more or less covered) but I feel the velcro seal on my neck piece is... well, ugly and quite bulky: ------- Has anyone else found this, and changed it - or is it something that you just don't notice? Thank you!

New member question about clearances.
kaa1304 replied to kaa1304's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Matt, I am still working on my Armour, ROTJ TK, hoping for level 3 clearance (centurion) when done and I certainly see no reaosn why I won't be EIB - and I feel like I've got question threads across a number of sites, all of which have been great sources of answers I suppose my main confusion was on the UKG form which requires a TK number - which in turn I thought came only from 501st.com Ah I'm sure it'll all work out in the end! Cheers -

Actually I am either going for level 2 or 3 on the 501st CRL, but wanted to know how the different sites and clearances fit together. -

Aha! Good to know, and just what I needed - thanks for that. -

Thanks My local garrison actually say to complete the 501st app first as the procedure requires a 501st designation (assuming this means an official TK XXXX number). Relived to see the FSID are optional though - not to say I won't go for them, just that it doesn't have to be part of the overall procedure! Just to ask, while I sit here reading away, are the FSID levels comparable to the 501st levels? -
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can set me straight! I'm new to all this, but loving it, and am working on my TK suit but am trying to get the 501st clearance route straight. I think it should be straiggt forward but... As far as I can tell, I have to apply to the "main" 501st to get a TK number, this application is dependant on having a finished costume (but I don't need to supply proof of it... yet), Once I've got this, I can apply to the UK Garrison. But now I just read that there's a FSID application also I'm so confused hehe. My aim is to achieve level 2 or 3 of the 501st CRL in order to be able to troop. Pointers? Thank you

Thought I'd just add to this, I got my boots from tkboots and they are excellent! Nicely made, comfortable and just right. As I'm going ROTJ I may have to paint the soles, but I would never have expected them to sell anything that particular. Also quick delivery, to the UK and I didn't get any tax or anything (not sure if I was supposed to)

Ha, dew-rags. What a name - the only reason I know these is from Gears Of War hehe. Thanks all, I've ordered a balaclava from my bodysuit people now.
-
I'm assembling my first costume (TK) and considering the balaclava, does anyone have any thoughts or preferences? I shave my head, so I don't need it to keep hair in line (!) and I wondered if it might be good for soaking up sweat (ew). But would like to hear others thoughts... thanks!

Thanks for all the info. TBH as this is my first outing into costuming, I'm not sure I feel confident enough to go for centurion, anyway, although I do feel it's possible for the actual armour, I may let myself down on the gun which seems to be by far the most annoying part. I am assuming here that grading can be upgraded at a later date, Ie i can submit for acceptance then expert then maybe even centurion. Right now I'd be overjoyed with level 1 haha!

Loads to think about, thanks. I'm going to start with a doopy resin kit and I've found on these forums a metal scope rail, so that's a decent start. Question. I know the gun isn't part of the 501st certifiction but, if you have one it has be to a certain standard, of course, the 1st grade of which is "Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster." - a pretty wide description really which I'm guessing even my basics will pass?
