  1. Ha yeah taekwondo for me 0.o the problem isn't so much mass, but firmness. My legs just wont move enough to fill up a different shape! I'm also chatting with the maker who suggests adding in really quite large shims My biggest concern really is colour matching as the rotjk stuff is quite off white.
  2. Hi all, I need some advice, I've recieved my ROTJ TK armour which I had assembled for me to save sometime (and potentially disasterous results due to my lack of ability!) but it seemed I neglected just how big my leg muscles are! Basically, I can't even get the thigh or calf armour within cm's of fastening and so am going to have to enlarge it. I think I need to widen the thighs by about 5cm, the calves by between 3 and 4cm. I took a photo but simply couldn't keep it on me long enough to get a shot, so have had to take it as is. Given the size of the area, I thought maybe the best way was a solid plate covering the gap, as you can see with the bad white box I've drawn, below, with the velcro moved to the edge of it, but this will loose the nice rims, i thought. So, basically, any advice is welcome, I'm kinda scratching my head right now. I'm also going to have to alter the biceps, but that isn't such a problem, I think. Many thanks
  3. Although I'm a newbie I find hte 10w to be loud enough on half volume.
  4. Haven't even had my full suit on and I'm thinking clone.... clone.... But my other half has just started a Mara Jade, so I'm also involved in that!
  5. Figured thanks for clarifiying it
  6. Hey Guys, I'm assembling a doopy doos E-11, ANH style (for no reason other than I have the kit and don't need it). I've noticed my scope rail has a distinct slope it it which I don't feel is right but wanted to check. The CRL pictures aren't huge but I'm fairly certain the rail doesn't slope. Easily fixed, of course, but I just want to be sure! thanks,
  7. Hi thanks for that. I ended up getting an all weather, all purpose, outdoor white paint, it seems pretty effective, two coats covered the soles well and I did a third for good luck It's called "Fortress all purpose matt white", got it in B&Q
  8. Perhaps I'll just talk loudly about her Mara Jade work 0.o
  9. I'm going to practice. Every evening from here on in I shall be YELLING at the g/f for an HOUR. Cheers!
  10. Thanks for the tips. I'm still unsure of what to do with the DD - as parts of it could be useful, to build my rotj (which is where my research effort goes into - as opposed to researching guns I'll never use), or to just build it up and paint it up for fun and games. thanks all, top tips as always.
  11. Good to know, thanks, as I plan on fitting fans also.
  12. Ok thanks. I'm not too keen on the headset that came with the setup so am going to look into altertives I think. Thanks for the advice!
  13. Removed by me, sorry, stupid question that I already knew the answer to!
  14. Ha, yeah, there's a market there, right? Think I'll go with Darth Furious' checklist on this one and just, well, make a gun!
  15. I think a lot of is down to my timing, also, repeated trials with vox make me think it isn't catching my voice until a few words in, then smothering it with static. Do you guys tend to replace the mic, or use the aker one? I feel like it doesn't get my voice unless the mic is central to my lips and about 1cm away. And I never thought of myself as a quiet person!
  16. Hi Having recently got my iComm + Aker amp, I wondering at the volume of the static, it seems incredibly loud compared to my voice. I don't have it set in armour yet, so I understand there will almost certainly be some muffling and dislocated of what I hear vs what comes out of the amp. I did some self-recordings and I have to say that any static pops really do overpower my voice and, over about half volume, the amp feels "too" loud in that the pop actually hurt my ears haha, I understand this absolutely may just be me not used to it. So what sort of volume do you run the amp at for general use? I found it takes 4 thumb movements from 0 to full (scientific huh) and at about half the pops are loud, but ok, but my voice feels quiet. Of course it's hard for me to isolate what I hear from my mouth comapred to what I record from the amp Thoughts and advice, welcome as ever. thanks all
  17. thanks matey, didnt think it was anywhere near that level, but cool. At least i'll have a nice blaster
  18. Howdy! Just wanted to clear something up in my head. I have a full kit DoopyDoos + scope rail. None of it is suitable really for my rotj trooper gear but as I have it, I was going to build it as is, anyway, for painting and weathering practice. I was just wondering, what trooper type and fisd level does the default DD kit + rail equal? (ie ANH basic, ESB centurion (yes, yes, i know... not this but...)) thanks all
  19. Hi there I was looking into paints for the soles of my TK Boots for full ROTJ (soles must be white) and was considering looking for some hard wearing, outside-use, white paint probably from B&Q or Homebase or similar. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for this? -------- thanks!
  20. What did you find wrong with teh bodysuit? Seems quite comfy to me. Not that I sit around in it.
  21. Aint that the truth! I don't know why... I can't explain why... I never looked into the weapon situation...
  22. Maybe I'll just have a lightsabre. <grin>
  23. Yeah, the suit doens't worry me as much as the gun, is all which is why I might seem like I'm focusing on the wrong thing. I have zero intention of being "basic level", armour wise, even if thats all I can get accepted as due to my gun. The blaster is where my lack of building experience is going to show, given that I've gone ROTJ. cheers
  24. Indeed, thanks for the advice. It's certainly easy as a newcomer to get a lot of information overload between here, UKG and 501st - not even mentioning all the blogs, personal sites, forums and so on I'm assuming (and forgive me for asking dumb an impolite person questions) that if my costume can technically achieve EIB or Centurion levels, but my blaster only achieves basic, it is still ok for me to apply for basic acceptance with better-than-basic armour? (example, my boots are centurion level already but I realise I can't achieve centurion because of my gun!).
  25. Oh. Well, that sorts that out, thanks. I think my confusion arises from the wording on the CRL which can be read to mean you can be EIB or Centurion without a blaster: "Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below." and then goes on to list the three levels. Could do with a "Blasters are required for levels two and three". But thank you for clearing it up!
