Minutemans ANH Stunt Build [AM]
Minuteman replied to Minuteman's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Yesterday i built a duct tape mannequin, here are the first results: One badass shot: My plan is to give him some kind of hands, so that he can hold my new hyperfirm E-11 when it arrives Any thoughts? The forearm will consist of a water pipe, so I might be able to glue on some wood construction or whatever is functional and good looking. Next I´ll work on the shoulder bridges. -
Hmm, from the pictures I can´t see any color difference. Is it that obvious? You can try to polish it so that it matches, another alternative would be to spray paint the helmet. Is this an ATA helmet? Probably you will get a new one if you tell the maker, that your not satisfied with the color difference.

ANH TK Armor (Noob needs help)
Minuteman replied to TKJustin's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Some people bought the molds to make their armor, some bought the rights of the original owner to copy the armor, some own their own suits and copy them and also there are some who sculpted the armor themselves. And now your dealer on the Philippines comes along the way and says: "Well, nice looking armor. You paid $15 000 ( or whatever) to acquire the rights of the original owner to use the molds and paid thousands of dollars for new molds to make them even better? Hahaha! So I take your armor, copy it and sell it much cheaper, cause you need to refinance your investments." Ever thought about that? I can´t see what you need to import? E 6000, okay. Sandpaper? A hobby knife? Screws and washers? Some kind of paint for model work? Snaps? Elastic ?The Philippines are probably no Third World Country ?! These things ARE available. You don´t necessarily need lexan scissors or a dremel, these are only nice to have. And that is sufficient to build armor and helmet. So you talk about money, that you don´t want to pay the tax fees, but on the other you say, that you want an assembled suit. Assembled armors are always way more expensive than kits. So probably your dealer made you a good offer. But believe me: Everybody, really EVERYBODY can build a nice looking suit. I got no clue of craftsmanship. If somebody has two left hands, I have three, but that far my armor does not look too bad. In the end it´s your decision. -

Talk to the maker, don´t believe everything he tells you. When he says: "Well I created everything on my own, I did not copy anything from anyone, and I did this in one year....." I would stay sceptically. Believe me: I, personally would buy from one of the vetted makers. Look here:http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ The advantage of that would be, that you can buy a helmet together with the armor, so that the color of the plastics match. And also you would get armor from a reliable and verified source, not such a dubious one. The disadvantage would be high shipping costs and custom fees. But I would place quality and origin above price, depends on what you want. -

Last time we had this discussion the concuision was that the armor is a RS-recast and the helmet is TE-derived.

Well.... your GMO decides in the last instance about your application. The helmet does not look bad, but like it´s said before is most likely a recast. With a good recast you will get approved, but we as a community do not support recasters, because they earn money by copying the work other vetted armor makers did. These "armor artist" enable us to carry out our hobby and buying the cheap recast armor destroys their possibility to refinance all the work and money they put into creating the armor (vacuum table, molds,e.g. one reputable armor maker on this forum works since 10 years on improving his armor to make it look as accurate as possible) We the community and the armor makers live together (pictorially said) in symbiosis. One needs the other. Recasters are the parasites that profit from other peoples work. -

Let´s wait for the more experienced troopers to give their opinion on this helmet, I´m unsure about the molds origin. -

There´s no known vetted armor maker on the Philippines, so this will most likely be a recast. Could this derive from TM? Does this maker also produce armor? 210 bucks for a blaster is a huge sum, if it is made from Resin you could buy yourself a doopydoos kit for 60 $ plus shipping and build it yourself. -
AP looks like a good match, remember, that the fibreglass one is casted from it and has softer details, especially the vocoder and the "mouth" above it differs, but the rest looks pretty similar. At least we can say it´s TE-derived

Thank you both Well, Jenny, the skeleton was the last rebel that came across my way -
I´m building this beauty since April, but college keeps me from finishing.... damn college Okay. The armor is AM, the helmet is from TM, assembled and painted by Paul .... well, art at school was a D- so painting myself wouldn´t have been a good idea. I shortened the chest and backplate and created a new return edge following Pandatroopers tutorial. Thanks Terry! I´m 185 cm short and about 85 kg. This is a test fit I made today, but it is not finished,as you all can see. There are many, many places to work on, like shoulder bells, shoulder bridges, belt, thigh garters, knee ammo belt,..... Constructive criticism is welcome ;-) Cheers

Makerofthings produces his TE-derived recast from flimsy styrene. Nice display if you can build it together without damaging it, but it will probably never be troopable, cause it will break.

The german pendant of the CIA already knows that I got nerdish star wars weapons at home. Probably the guys at the customs-office told them.....

Hey Jim! Take a look at the "Tips and Howtos"-section. One of the topics on top is about making scope rails. Cheers

It´s been two weeks since I paid for a DLT-19 from doopydoos and tada : It arrived today. WOOOOHOOOO And I need to confess, that Casey responded, after a difficult start with no response for 2 weeks, promptly to my mails. I can´t understand how these things turned out so disastrously for you with the contact to DD. I have been informed about the status of my order at all time, the package was send 5 days ago, tracked by Royal Mail ( not as good as USPS,but okay) and handed to me by the postman today. Cheers
