Help with Modification
Minuteman replied to Niklasher's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Okay. Two things: First here is a list of the vetted armor makers, that do also produce helmets. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Maybe you will reconsider your choice of the eFX. If not look here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/8839-howto-modding-the-mr-ce/ This is a tutorial on how to mod the MRCE/eFX to be able to get approved. Good luck -

Maybe this guy can suplly you with a more accurate helmet ;-) The eFx has to be modded to be approvable and looks imho not as good as real screen-derived helmets. But that is your decision. -

Help with Modification
Minuteman replied to Niklasher's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Niklas! Well it´s a start, for a first suit it doesn´t look that bad. Who made this armor? Have a look yourself --> http://www.501st.com...ng:TK_anh_stunt This is a checklist you can look at and see if everything is where it should be. So i will start from the boots up to the top. Sorry, but your boots are a no go. These Elvis boots are nothing like the movie ones. I would suggest http://tkboots.com/ These are the best, everybody will tell you so. This magnet construction at the shins is just provisionally, isn´t it? Except this the shins look good. But your thighs are much too wide. Maybe try to open them and make them fit your body shape better. AND!!! The coverstrips should not go completely to the bottom. Cut them where the raising (you know what I mean?) begins. Also I would recommend to round the lower corner of the thigh ammo pack. Another point would be to cut the corners of your ammo belt in a 45 degree angle. What happened to your abdominal buttons? 3 are missing. Search on this forum for the correct number and paint scheme. Also the shoulder bell elastic should be present like this: Sorry to see that you attached the shoulder bridges via rivets. this is not accurate, because they were glued in place. Have you modified the MRCE or eFx helmet? I´m no fan of this helmet, but it´s your decision to take this helmet or a more accurate, really screen derived one. Your on a good way, keep up the nice work **EDIT: And I would suggest changing your Thermal Detonator. There was no black color between the white parts. Jesse does some really nice ones, you can search in the "Ongoing Sales" area. -
Sweet looking armor Have you thought about connecting biceps and forearm? You will look a lot better when straightening your arms. Here´s a good tutorial http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21390-geaux-saints-anh-stunt-build-tm/page__st__120 Centurion will be an easy one for you
-
Sure, I think we all agree that is armor would not be worth the effort and money you would need to invest to get it approvable. This discussion has come apart from what it was intended for. Stay away from this armor if you want to invest your money intelligently and are looking for screen-accuracy.
-
How can you say that, do you know anything about what will be how approved by the Legion/GMO? This is a recast FX kit. Many guys in the legion still possess this armor with this helmet. This may not be ideal, but it´s the reality. With a well built FX you can still get approved, although you will not get EIB or Centurion with this helmet.

BID's ANH Hero Build Thread - RT-Mod
Minuteman replied to BIDS's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Only Mathias can answer this question finally. But from the CRLs one could assume that 3 cut out teeth are suficcient. With the bubble lenses, the low brow and the painting everybody will recognice the helmet as an Hero. Maybe you could fill the 4th tooth with ABS paste, then sand and polish it smooth? -
BID's ANH Hero Build Thread - RT-Mod
Minuteman replied to BIDS's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Nice build so far ! Your double snap technique looks.... heavy snaps everywhere If it works well for you than it´s cool. But the first troops will show this. I got a question concerning your hero bucket: Is the faceplate a specific hero one? It does look exactly like the stunt with two holes less cut out and the lid has a lower brow. Are these the only differences on your helmet? Maybe a side to side comparison could enlighten me Have a look: yours: The real one: It seems like the real one did not had the "marks" for the 4th Stunt tooth like yours. -
Jordan's AM Build - Noobie (ANH Stunt)
Minuteman replied to TxtbookNinja's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Nice build, you did a good job fitting the AM to your body. Just my two cents: The AM handplates are HUGE. I would recommend getting more screen-accurate handguards *cough*Queen Karin*cough* and maybe screen-accurate rubber gloves. And please: Get yourself a new helmet Sell this goddamn FX bucket -
ddays 1.5mm TM ANH Hero (mostly complete)
Minuteman replied to Dday's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Awesome suit ! Paul´s Hero is great and it looks really nice on you -
Please let us know, if he made you a proposal
-
And think of Bluey´s proposal. TM is with RS the best you can get. Maybe your boyfriend has the same bodyshape as Bluey and then you would have a fully built armor.
-
If you want an accurate kit: no. This is a kit for big troopers. It is cheap but maybe look for RS, TM, TM/C, ATA and AP.
-
Battlefront II is great
-
For 2k you get an awesome trooper But what about getting your bf for example the kit and he can continue from that point? would be much cheaper. You get accurate kits with all the armor parts for 600 - 700 $. An alternative would be to take the measurements of your bf and sending them to a armor maker like TM oder RS Propmasters (for contact info look here: http://www.whitearmo...e-to-find-them/ ) RS takes at least GBP 1100 for a fully built suit.

Sorry I did not want to accuse somebody from this forum of recasting.... Could I ask a mod to close this topic please? This is not a sales thread
-
Hey Chelsea, how much do you want to spend on a stormtrooper armor, what do you estimate? I can tell you that a good, complete Stormtrooper costume (Including boots, undersuit, blaster, belt, holster, gloves and handguards) doesn´t come under 1000 $. But I don´t know what quality you are looking for. Do you just search a cheap costume for halloween or a movie-like replica, with which your bf could join the 501st legion? Should it be ready to wear or a kit ? Ready to wear would be much more expensive, most of the people here build their own costumes with armor parts they get from people who pull them on a vacuum-table.

Hey! Found this in the evil-bay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Stormtrooper-Armour-Latex-Stunt-Handguards-/230867818475?pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item35c0cb57eb I don´t know the maker and wanted to check out if anybody knows him or his products and can say if these Handguards are recasts, maybe of Karin's handguards?! He sells them at such a low price that I am not sure how this is possible.... His range of products extends to gloves with handguards http://www.ebay.de/itm/Stormtrooper-Armour-Latex-Stunt-Handguards-and-rubber-gloves-/230867820451?pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item35c0cb5fa3 and hero handuguards http://www.ebay.de/itm/Stormtrooper-Armour-Flexible-Hero-Handguards-/230861491285?pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item35c06acc55

I didn´t save the picture, damn.... There was a guy from Germany who wanted to ( and actually did) sell his badly build fx armor. On the photo the biceps were positioned upside down and the whole armor looked just pretty pretty crappy
-
I know it might be a strange question, but how can you tell from this picture, that this armor is FX and not AM? AM is the successor of the FX I know, but e.g. the chest looks imho exactly like my AM chest. A look at the back of thighs would be interesting, because the shape of the backside of the thighs is the most noticeable difference in my opinion. But the consent is that this armor is not screen-accurate and the helmet is obsolete.

So. Juny, have you asked the German Garrison? The german group of the 501st Legion? Look here: http://501st.de/request-a-trooper.php I don´t know how good your german is, but I could help you to write the request in german. So far I´m no member of the GG, but there will probably be some german troopers out there in Rheinland-Pfalz who would love to come to your sons birthday ;-) Maybe you will then get a taste for what the 501st does and rethink your costume idea ;-). PM me if you need help with the request.
-
Welcome to the FISD Juny, do you like Rheinland-Pfalz, where you are stationed? Whats your intention of buying a costume? Do you just want to surprise your son, or do you maybe want to join the 501st legion later? The rubies supreme costume look here: --> http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/5718-warning-about-commercially-available-stormtrooper-armor/ It´s almost not approvable for the 501st you would need to mod it extensively. For a halloween costume e.g. the rubies supreme stormtrooper is okay, everybody would recognize that you are a stormtrooper, but consider, it costs at least 650 $ or more and for that amount of bucks you can get yourself a screen accurate armor from one of the vetted makers here --> have a look:http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ The only thing is that you would need to build the armor yourself, but it will look a thousand times better than the Rubies stuff. Sorry, but I can´t recommend you a store in NYC, 4000 miles are too much. Don´t hesitate to ask any further questions

Master replica or fx helmet?
Minuteman replied to bhestad25's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
For what purpose? Do you want to join the 501st, or do you just want a nice and cheap replica for your living room? The eFX or MR CE ( they´re simply the same helmet from different makers) is a cheap helmet, does look good if you don´t know anything about costuming and especially stormtroopers. But it´s absolutely symmetrical ( the real helmets were not) and to be able to join the 501st you would need to do some mods on the helmet and imho it would be a lot easier to get yourself a quality helmet from one of the vetted makers right from the start. Look here:http://www.whitearmo...e-to-find-them/
