Two TKs? How Could That Be?
theisaac replied to HeyItsAdam's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I have an approved TK and an approved Tie Pilot. I got the Tie Pilot helmet and found that the armor takes a long time to get so I got the TK and was approved in that first. Then I finished the Tie Fighter a few months after that. When you look at my profile on the 501st page it shows my TK and there is a note under other approved costumes that says Tie Fighter Pilot. hope that helps. -
Rubberizing inside of helmet
theisaac replied to bselphfsu282's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I spray the inside of mine with that "hammered" black rattle can stuff from hardware stores. It adds texture to the inside and makes anything I glue inside stick better. I also llike the look of the black inside. I orginally thought it would help with any glare. Same reason we rub black polish under the eyes in football. Not sure there is any benefit in that area though. Then, like Tray, I just think it looks better when people look inside the lid. -
Show off the inside of your helmet

and clearly I need to send my bucket to Trey to have him build the inside of mine like that. -
I am looking at getting a new suit for trooping and while Im planning this all in my head I am thinking about the strapping. I currently use the nylon straps with snaps strapping. I am thinking about going with the bars and bolts screen accurate strapping for the next build. My question is for those who use the bars and bolts for trooping. How well does it hold up over time? Does it cause your armor to crack? I want to LOOK screen accurate but want to be able to troop in the suit for a few years as well. thanks Isaac

Does Lonewolf sell his helmets though? I thought he just made that one for himself.

you can do a whois lookup on the domain and get the person's name and address. They have their domain registered publicly. I won't paste the info out in the open but its listed for the world to see. Doesn't tell you who they are re-casting but it tells you who is doing it

The Phoenix Comic Con is not all about comics. I haven't read them since I was like 10 years old bro. Its a great place to meet other Star Wars costumers and interact with cool kids who are freaking out because there are real life Star Wars characters to take pictures with. We all do this hobby for our own reasons. My TK is an AM kit and I would be willing to help you get it built and help you get fitted right. We have some really skilled builders in Casa Grande too. We are here to help ya as much as you would like. There is also the FISD here. We are all here to help.

I'd be glad to help ya out if you ever make it over this way to Phoenix. The chest looks good how you have it now as far as where it sits. The shoulders we can check out in person and see what you have to work with. If you are dead set on trimming them, go 1/2 inch at a time and make sure they sit right after each cut and that moving your arms around doesnt get them hung up. You will be posing with kids in weird funky angles so consider that as well. Isaac

we tried to have them both in helmets and take them off in the end... since they are identical twins it would have been funny to have them be clones... then the wife said I was making it too difficult. Well, shes 8 months pregnant so she wins any debate we have on principle so this is what we got

wouldn't you know it, the chair blocks the 501st logo. Cant see in that bucket

Made a little Harlem Shake with my wife and twin boys.

I would hit up tupperwareTK and ask him if he has another from a parted out kit. That guy is charging way too much and then 15 bucks for shipping. Not only is it too short, hes sticking you with extra fees.

I know right now its about a year to get your stuff from him. He will not reply to email you send him either. On the Tie Pilot forums, he only replies to one person so everyone has to ask that guy to send Dan questions and find out updates. I don't care if his armor comes with a hand shake from Lucas himself, I would not support his business model with my money. People will tell you, "its just the way it is... its a hobby.... patience is part of it." I don't agree. If you accept money from someone, its now a business. The only reason he can continue to do that is because people continue to financially support it. If his orders dried up, he would start playing nice. Just my 2 cents.

I got mine from wompawear.com. His are inexpensive and turn around was about a week (This was during Dec). He will sew on imp cogs as well if you want them. They are not vinyl though. His compad window is the right size as well. The only thing you will need to do is take off the bottom two pockets from the legs and you are good to go for a RP and a TI. I have a ton of pics of the flightsuit on my WIP thread on the JRS detatchment site. good luck man, Isaac

Kid's foam trooper build
theisaac replied to theisaac's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Wanted to get a little more done on the foam suits today but the wife had other projects for me to finish up. I got a rough cut out of the chest piece and just letting the glue dry before moving on. Then spent the rest of the day sanding and painting this. -

Jeroen, Check out Phil's mini trooper thread. He was able to pull off a pretty nice little helmet using an old Rubies helmet. I was thinking of going with a Rubies kid helmet and seeing what I can do to make it look a little better. TM made some JR kits that have mini helmets too. Those things look better than my EIB TK suit too. If you can find someone willing to part with one. I've been on the lookout myself for over a year -

Hey Phil, I wasn't even considering it until I saw how your boy's lid turned out. You did an AMAZING job making it look good so I may just go ahead and give it a shot with one of those. My original plan was to get one of the half deluxe rubies kids helmets for 20 bucks and see what I could do with it. My buddy used the face from a rubies halloween costume and then a plastic helmet and made his daughter a pretty good helmet. -

That is awesome bro! I am so jealous of these kits!!!! I went out and starting making a foam suit for my guys since we don't have anything close to this quality that I have found in the states. I am happy to live through you though my friend! Keep posting your troops! Isaac
