  1. Try sanding it down enough to lay flush onto the opening, then glue it in place. You may have to glue a small block inside for the center to grab onto then you could just putty and paint the seam, leave it if it's flush enough or use white caulk to seal the edges.
  2. Well, if you can't get a fix-it solution on here from these expert guys, I'm sure Terrell can hook you up with a replacement! Here's Gaz's photobucket: ----------- I'm sure there's a way to fix that!
  3. Looks like you may have trimmed too much off! Uh-oh!!
  4. I've only trimmed mine out but I used Gazmosis' build to gauge how much to take off. It looks to me like it just goes over the opening as opposed to fitting in. Thanks to Gazmosis for taking such awesome pics to follow!
  5. Thanks again guys! I've seen the video tutorial about the lens strip but since I went with Smitty's lenses I'm not going to use the strip method. I suppose I will just hot glue or velcro them in place then line them with foam like Gazmosis' lid. I'd like a clean professional look as opposed to the more accurate ANH stunt way. Especially since I'll be plastidip/cheeseclothing the inside like Gaz's and mounting my fans/wireless/mic inside and lining it with the MICH pads I bought on eBay. I'll update this post with some final pics after I finish..........
  6. Well, Now that summer's here I'm back on board and planning to hit this project hard till it's done, here's some progress!!! First of all, I've finally gotten my sound system completed with the iComm, Aker 12W and Memorex wireless. Ready to ROCK!! And although it's not the most exciting part, I'm finishing the arms this week. I had to rip the right arm apart and readjust it as it was just way too loose compared to the curvier left one. By trimming it exactly at 15 mm on both sides I'm at the limit of how small it'll go but it seems like it'll fit closer to the left now. I've also retrimmed the outer edges of the biceps to 15mm but had to leave a bit more in the back so they'll fit. If both sides were 15mm I'm afraid they wouldn't fit around my arms. So far so good though. I've also gone overboard with clamps! I bought another 10 2" clips yesterday plus 6 really neat mini clamps that are really tight so they hold the inside reinforcing strips in place really excellent!! This is besides the 30 others I've gotten as I needed them! I guess you can never have enough clamps for this kind of job! I could still use some more magnets though! Arms should be completed by the weekend! Next up: The legs!!!!
  7. Well now THAT'S a real compliment!! Thanks brother!! I can't wait to see your finished product!
  8. Billhag's post here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4697 Good Luck!!
  9. Thanks guys! Cleared that up for me a lot!
  10. I've seen several ways to mount the lenses in a lid ranging from simply glueing them in place with silicone/glue, screwing the entire strip into place to some serious looking mounting brackets. I could use some advice and suggestions as to some of the details and best ways to mount them. I've not seen any tutorials on this subject but may have missed something. Personally, I'd like them to look as pro as possible. I'm using Smitty's upgraded lenses and am not sure how I want to mount em'. So, how did/do you mount your lenses?
  11. You could always bend it a bit inward or outward then fit that part in first before securing it in the back. When I put mine in it seemed to hold pretty well on it's own without any assistance but I cut the front part of the rail the exact diameter of the hole on the barrel so it fit pretty tight. Another idea may be to make the front tab longer so that it sits low in the barrel that way even it it pops out a bit it can't clear the hole. I hope this helps a little Luis! Thanks for all of the help and assistance you've given the rest of us over the years (in my case months! )! Good luck!
  12. The Hengstler is sitting a bit too high. It should be nearly touching the folding stock. I'm in the same boat and saw several critiques regarding this over time. I still need to do it to mine....... Just thought I'd chime in while you still had the chance to adjust it! Looks great so far!
  13. My apologies!!!
  14. Slow going but I was able to cut some finishing strips for the arms and legs last night as well as glue in the reinforcing strips on the other forearm. Measuring out the strips: I know, boring, but at least progress is happening! And with the end of the school year approaching I'll hopefully have some quality armor time coming up!
  15. Yeah, with the 5 minute epoxy I was able to pretty much assemble the whole thing in one night without any clamps at all. The whole assembly process I showed in the thread was done in the span of an hour or so. It's the detailing, filling, sanding, priming, making the metal parts and painting that took the most time! What a fun project though! And with the epoxy, the blaster feels incredibly solid! If it cracked, it definitely wouldn't be where I applied the epoxy! Lol!
  16. I thought that the 2-part epoxy worked the best for me but many folks use E6000 or several other types of glues (there are some other threads that deal with this somewhere on here) Anyway, I just used the Loctite brand that I bought at Target. You can find it at any home improvement store or hardware store or there are some better brands at hobby shops. Good luck! And thanks for the compliment! And Thanks Nige for the info! I got some nice ones to print! Now I just need a new color ink cartridge!
  17. How can I get one of these!!?? So cool!!
  18. Finished the other side of the forearm. It's a little big on my arm right now, although I measured out 7.5 mm on each side, after assembling it seems that it ended up a bit wider than the 15 mm finishing strips. I'm going to try to to a better job on the other forearm before I decide to rip this one apart and trim the seams to fit tighter. Oh well, I guess it's a learning process. Here's where I'm at: Here you can see how it's a but wider than I'd have liked: Test fitting with my Eastbay compression shirt, glove, hand guard taped on and my E-11
  19. Thanks brother! Those look interesting! I need to size out the Doopy's scope eyepiece area. I wonder if I could just make my own by getting an appropriate sized reticle and pour a small amount of clear epoxy into the area to make it look like glass. Sounds like it might work! Hmmmmmm............
  20. Beside the thermal det, I was able to glue one side of the forearm.
  21. Put together Jesse's new thermal det kit tonight! Very cool! Breeze to assemble.
  22. I'm on it Mathias! Thanks!
  23. Hi all, Anybody with ideas for the scope? I purchased a reticle piece from ebay but it turned out to be too big, so I need to find an alternative. I would also like to find some "glasslike" inserts to put over it on the front and back so it looks like a real one. I suppose I could upgrade it to a real one but was hoping to find a solution to mod the existing part to be more accurate.
