I'm seeing many folks using these for different sections of their armor and just wanted to know what the size is and type of the ones that are being used. Also, where are they used generally on the armor. I've seen them mentioned in posts many times but never tallied up where they're being used the most. Like Holsters, belts, ammo belts, etc. I have found a website that specializes in them and would like to order some but am not sure about sizes or the kind of metal I should get. (aluminum/brass/stainless/etc.) or how many I'd need. http://www.chicagoscrews.com/ Thanks for the help

Interior dimensions of the Doopy Doo's e-11
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Yeah, I read that and it looked like a whole other project to copy what you did. I've been basically following your thread for my build anyway. I was kinda trying to avoid going there, as well as I'm not too concerned that it is a working bolt anyway like yours. I like the look but mine doesn't have to function. Hmmmm........what to do, what to do.........I just wanna finish and paint this bad boy, and now it looks like I'm opening another can of worms here! btw.....Martin's my hero! I Love your build! Whenever I work on my build I always ask myself "WWMD?" What would Martin do? -
Interior dimensions of the Doopy Doo's e-11
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Thanks, I chucked the idea because it ended up being too late. Thanks tho, I'm gonna hit Home Depot later tonight to get a 22mm (or as close as I can get it) PVC tube for the bolt. I'll double check the measurements before I go. Once again thanks for the help guys! -
I'm out running some errands and was going to grab what I needed for the rear bolt on the Doopy. Does anyone have the interior dimensions of the PVC pipe Doopy's uses. I don't have mine handy to check. Thanks all

Will this Spring/Bolt work for my Doopy's E-11?

Can anyone suggest a thread that addresses this specifically? -
Will this Spring/Bolt work for my Doopy's E-11?
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Well I suppose that is the million dollar question. So far I've gone through enough work making the front bolts/sight pin/rail/bracket as accurate as I can, would it be unforgivable to not make the rear part of the bolt? I've seen the tutorials but it seems like it'll be another project in itself to fabricate it. I know it'll look cool, but I kind of just want to get it painted and move on to the armor. Of the posts I've read it really runs the gamut of folks making it look really accurate vs. looking like I have it, without the rear part of the bolt. As I said above, I will do it if you guys think it's absolutely necessary, but if I can get away with it, I'd like to just get to painting and moving on with my armor build. -

Got it! Thanks Vern! It'll be good to go! Just have to putty and sand it. -
Will this Spring/Bolt work for my Doopy's E-11?

Thanks Vern! Now THAT means something to me! So I shouldn't paint it black? Do you think it's good to finish up at this point? -
Just put together the spring on my e-11 and need some feedback if it's ok to leave it like this or if I'm going to have to fabricate a bolt cover. I'd really like to get this thing painted but will, if I absolutely have to attempt to make one, do it. I can live without it, but can YOU? I formed the spring with a coat hanger on a drumstick: Here's where I'm at. Can I leave it and glue and prime it or should I try to figure out how to make the bolt cover?

Solcar23's Resin DoopyDoo's E-11 Build
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Well, I made some progress tonight! All that's left to do is the bolt and spring and the endcap! Then on to painting! I started with the front bolts, first I got the crooked one to sit better: Then finished the other side, I'm pleased with the result: I then installed the front sight part. When I drilled out the hole it unfortunately ate part of the front away. Fortunately the little flat screwdriver part is hexagonal so when the flat side is against the edge it blended pretty well with the front. I'll probably touch it up with some putty before I prime when I'm filling gaps. I put some better screws into the hengstler and adjusted the angle: Mounted it: I broke a screw off into the scope so I had to improvise with the screw holes. I'm really not happy with this but at least it is in a more concealed spot. I was able to clean up and adjust the front of the rail, it's not perfect but it's better than it was: Moving on: Relatively straight.......eh: Adding the stock: The mag: Then the bits and pieces: In Vern's Holster: That's all for tonight!! -
I've gotten recommendations for using webbing for snap plates instead of plastic. I haven't tried it yet but it makes sense.

Solcar23's Resin DoopyDoo's E-11 Build
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Not much progress in the last day or so but I did get to drilling out the muzzle bolts and inserting the bolt head on the left side. I'm not happy with the way it sits (a little crooked) so I'm going to re-do the area with the Dremel instead of the needle file to get it to seat better. Little by little. You can see here how it's sitting a bit crooked. A bit more tweaking and it'll be right! -
My ATA Works kit is finally here!
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Nope, got em from TK 0812 Kevin. Really nice too, they match perfectly! -
Well after months of researching, reading, asking questions and gathering the arsenal together my kit from ATA Works has finally arrived!! Now to build it! Whew! Although It's not going to be a quick build and I'm expecting a few bumps in the road, I will post as much as I can of my process and hopefully can get it right (with guidance) without ruining some good plastic! I'm intending on finishing the E-11 Doopy's kit first then move on to this beast shortly after. We'll see...... I really feel relatively confident that I have just about everything and more to get the job done at this point and other than the strapping system, some more snaps and a Stanley storage box I don't think I'll need to invest much more into it! I'm also proud to say that I've stayed within my budget for the kit! For the whole thing, mods, voice system and all, I estimate I've paid at least $200+ less for everything as opposed to those eBay/UK recasters so called "complete kits" that many of us (myself included) almost fall for when we decide to attempt this thing! I can't tell you all how much I appreciate finding this community! Well on to the pics................... Requisite brown box pic!:------------

Solcar23's Resin DoopyDoo's E-11 Build
Solcar23 replied to Solcar23's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Pre-fab'd some parts for the scope and Hengstler as well as cut the bolts for the front Allen screw heads and the flat screwdriver bit for the front sight. I was hoping to assemble the whole thing and mount it but ran out of steam. Cutting the Allen bolt heads off: Finished product: Then on to the front sight part: Finished product: Then I moved on to the Hengstler bracket: Mounted, although these are totally the wrong screws. I just put them there to put it together. I need to find some different ones. Inspiration...... Basically the end result of tonight's work, now to install all of it!: -

Thanks guys! -
Hi Everyone! Well, since I've started on the E-11 while I'm waiting for my ATA armor to arrive I thought I'd post pics of my progress. Here's the kit laid out: After giving the kit a bath and scoring the areas to be glued I attached the grip, trigger and guard first. I had a bit of a problem using E6000 for the kit so I switched to 2 part 5 min epoxy. Seems to be doing the trick! I also put together the mag and screw. This is the only part to still be attached with E 6000: After that, I detailed out the front sight with an exacto and needle file. I'll probably touch this up when I'm finishing the blaster before I prime it: Progress at the end of that evening: Next, I decided to work on adding the aluminum rail and rear sight. I haven't seen any threads that specifically described the rear sight prep for the rail, but after looking at Billhag's post it seems that there were some mods done to make the rear of the rail work. I used the Dremel and needle file to grind the part down and I cut the rail with a metal cutting wheel on the Dremel: I think the rear came out ok. I'd like it to sit a bit lower but after 2 hours of messing with it, I just left it as it. It's also slightly crooked but it's not so bad that it'll be noticeable, unless you really look down the length. Generally, I'm just going to go with it, imperfections and all. Here's the front. It sits just a few mm. too high. I'm going to go back and tweak that later. Once again, not too noticeable but enough to make me want to tweak it a bit. I'm also for sure going to clean up the front, the cutting wheel got away on me a bit as I kept trying to get it to sit lower, I think a bit off of the corners will do the trick. : Here's a shot of the profile, here you can see the rail isn't perfectly flat from bending the ends, as well as how it's just a tiny bit higher in the front. It bugs me, but I'm not sure if it's a deal breaker yet. Opinions would be great! Next up will be the Hengstler bracket, then the remaining smaller pieces which will be easier to attach. I'll save the spring and bolt for last.
