http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3cce107626 I think they got most of the details wrong, the ears are the wrong shape, color tone, and material, the faceplate: same. Dome: same. Brow: well it's this foamy material blended with the rest and it's all just wrong.

I want to see that number go down for realistic reasons rather than up for imaginary ones. Many of those TK's are way not up to standards and left in a closet of shame until gotten rid of. And when I read the previous posts I come to think there are costumes that are being counted twice after they were passed on. Let the biker scouts play that vanity number contest

Funny topic, Mathias asked me awhile ago why I had no stripe, my answer was "Because I'm a noob and I'll put my stripe once I've done my 10th troop." and I happened to have earned that notch last weekend!

Torso strapping bracket connections or dual snaps?
Nicky replied to 8BitBry's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I cut webbing straps instead of plastic rectangles for my snap plates. More contact surface for the glue, infinite spares, no gap, flexible, compressible. I started with abs snap plate at first but then I said "oh, what the hell" and used webbing for the trunk area instead. Spending more time on the bracket solution seems a bit too extreme to me, and not worth the sweat. -

Awesome So if I only need a week or two I can bring this one to its first troop in march! -
Once again the heat gun saves the day. I've followed your thread and I admire your work! You are very thorough and not afraid to fix what needs to be fixed.

You've suffered too little. I'm disappointed. Well done.

Sticking tube stripes the wrong way is a mistake that comes with its own punishment No TV show tonight, tweak those stripes more!

We've all had some intimate fireplace sexy time with our costume ^^ -
That was an advice directed to Kevin and well based on enough material to back it up. No point shooting down the advice, then we'll just tell people to stop finishing their costume just because some looked terrible on screen.

TK-85421 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion Status [ATA*][71]
Nicky replied to gmrhodes13's topic in Request Centurion Status
Don't you even want to enjoy living life as an EI for just a few minutes? -
Yes, static is loud. Always try the system buckets off before installing / glueing. Ask yourself "how close do I want the ME52 ideally?". Well, very close. Depending on your head and bucket space you will have little freedom of choice. Most people have the headset mike against the lips almost. To me the top of the vocoder is too far, so I installed another place for it. Plus, decrease surface contact with the helmet to avoid vibration noise getting picked up. Rule of thumb: if you can lick it, you got it the right place. Also learn the frequency response of the microphone, icomm and speaker: what pitch gets through the loudest. It's not always about yelling. I would recommended anyone using an ME52 to embrace this mounting solution ASAP because one day you will forget to unplug before removing the helmet entirely and need a glue gun when you don't have any. When I forget to unplug the mike comes off before anything breaks.

In this pic you can see how I affixed my ME52. I've dealt a lot with microphones and noise cancelling and the idea is to have as little direct contact with the helmet as possible. Even my fan is free floating inside the helmet. There's a rubbery part on the base of the microphone, while the hard plastic capsule will pickup anything vibrating against it.

TK-85421 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status[ATA][291]
Nicky replied to gmrhodes13's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
I don't. It's way too much. But I love the black finish on them, damn. -
Yep, looks complete to me. Do you have the white elastic around the shoulder bridges? And you have the helmet screws painted white?

We share the same experience of EVE I thrived in wormhole space. I jumped in after the PI and anomaly scanning expansions. While the alliance I was in was small it was easy to manage security, but then we got bigger, war declarations every month, the morals deteriorated once we had to spread the message that we're not to be bugged with. Gate camping, personal vendettas, paying mercs... I felt it went too far and we weren't even safe in wormhole space anymore. So now I'm an ammo supplier in Dodixie for until my capital ship skills are ready

Now you're just showing off -

We've already taken the time to answer to Alex about buying your first costume, and ebay. There are so many irregularities in the photos and description I wouldn't know where to start. We can start with the big fat lie: "501st approved". Well the hypothetical GML who approved it needs to get his eyes checked ASAP.

Around 50 hours then! 10 hours less than me, but 6x faster on the calender I totally noticed your eye for straight lines, and couldn't have guessed you used a dremel as I assume everyone has my shakey hands . I wasn't as active reading or participating in the forum for until I was almost finished, so I needed lots of breaks far away from the build, to let all the information sink into my brain. I hear you regarding the clamps and magnets, I had 2mm thick ABS to work with and I didn't want to use the heatgun everywhere the clamps and magnets wouldn't suffice. But my sister told me that you can't just do things by the book if you want to go fast and avoid frustrations: use whatever you have in the house. And I happened to have beer.

Indeed I noticed, you brought helpful stuff to the table and it's a great spirit. How many hours did you spend on that build? Regarding the shins, the straps make it look dodgy. It should be tight enough so the thickness around your shoes and leg keeps the pieces stable. They shouldn't have the freedom move, twist or anything, let alone the need for a strap. You're very good at trimming, it's all straight and clean, even the finishing strips are well defined. I think you trimmed the calves with too much with respect for the present ridges rather than trim to a fit. If it's trimmed tight and bites around the left knee (due to any odd symetry), we can shorten/remove the return edge hidden by the sniper plate. But since it doesn't show that it's loose or oversized compared to the thighs another option is padding the insides with a thick/dense foam, just like some people do with forearms. Congrats on your well deserved TK-ID!
