  1. I have TE2 armor and the thighs are long on it as well. Apparently they were quite tall. There are two options to make the thighs work. The first is to cut the "notch" out of the back above where your knee bends. This is mostly obvious when watching ESB — and maybe was only done there — especially in the scene where the troopers drop Han back into the cell after torturing him. One trooper is taller than the other, and the shorter trooper has the "notches" cut out. The other option is to cut the tops off the thighs making them actually shorter. If you want the "return edge" you would have to obviously put it back on with a craft iron or the like. But it is an option. I'm actually doing both of these things on my current ESB build. On my sandtrooper cutting the notches worked fine because the thighs go up higher (to my eye) in ANH than they did in ESB.
  2. I know one guy here who can sit in his armor. It's not AP... old style FX... and he's about as big around as one of the finishing strips... but he can do it. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. Learn to lean and be happy with the fact you're worn out tired knowing that you've done a full good day of troopin'!

I'll say this man... you couldn't be in league with a better guy than Terry! Oh, and welcome! (I never actually said that...)

You started at the beginning... it's where we all started, so you did it right.

  6. You can also check out the sandtrooper reference posts -----. That will help you know a lot more than just packs. Hope to see you on the dirty side soon!
  7. You could silicone the Velcro to the back of the hand plate (I think). Silicone melds with the hand plate. So if it will still to the Velcro, you should be golden.
  8. I have since cut, and "resealed" mine. Cutting it gave me more problems than I would've liked. Like it would fall off one side, etc. Honestly, in all the troops I've ever done having to go to the bathroom really badly happened once. So, for me, the cod is staying uncut from now on.
  9. One more reference... ---------
  10. When you bend your hand / make a fist your hand plate should flex over the top of your knuckles just a bit. -----------
  11. Got it! I was honestly getting really confused... it happens.
  12. That's so weird because you can't see them at all here...
  13. There are a few scenes where you can see the rivets on the side. Image #43 in my ESB reference gallery shows the left side rather well. But someone probably has screen used armor (not on screen armor) that shows it better. Photos 9, 10 and 11 show enough of the right side snap to see — or not see — all the other rivets. So I'm with Vern on this one (too) for now. (Vern... is there a board you're on somewhere that you don't know everything? Like the Predator costuming board... or She-Ra... or something?)
  14. He was #6 on the MEPD too... I'm betting our lists are very close. Jawas have better luck than these guys.
  15. I am wondering the same things Terry is. I considered putting fiberglass inside of my new set of TE2 armor. I had tested it on a hand plate, and it seemed to work well, but when we got it into one of the thighs it really didn't do anything for it. The benefit (strength) was far outweighed by the negative (mess, time, cost, added weight, etc.) Plus it pulled right off the HIPS — thankfully — very easily so wouldn't have lasted long anyway. There might be ways of making it stick... and I know you're talking about armor that's completely made from fiberglass (not "coating" a set of armor), but I just have to think what Terry said is right... there are plenty of good, affordable options out there so, to put it bluntly, what's the point? And I ask that because I want to know... in case we're missing something.
  16. Sounds like you're on the right track man!! Look forward to seeing more / hearing more progress!! Long live the Empire!!
  17. Oh yeah... forgot to mention Keith for mic tips. He's pretty much the only one we all buy/have.
  18. And good luck on the build! Make sure and post plenty o' pictures!
  19. No worries... the guy in the pic was faking the vegetarian thing too. All done with gaffers tape. (what the Sith AM I talking about anyway?)
  20. Also... if you want to be totally screen accurate to this clip, the hero bucket is left handed, and a vegetarian.
  21. Probably more than you want to spend... bu-----------
  22. Congrats man!!!
  23. Yes... stick with the lite kit and get all the other stuff on your own. You don't want to use ABS cement (use E-6000), you'll throw that Velcro away anyway, and you don't want the bucket. The only thing you might use is the polish.
