  1. Okay... the foam padding doesn't work. Still rubs. So I'm thinking trimming. But... should I un-glue the legs and trim the tops so that they still have the bottom ridge width? (un-gluing would be a pain... though it is hot glue, not ABS cement, and it's only on the back) Or should I trim the bottoms?
  2. Need some advice... the bottom of my thighs are rubbing horribly against the back of my knees. I need to either pad them, or cut them down some. I'm going to try padding them first... then maybe I will cut them if I have to. Cutting is ALWAYS a last resort though I believe! What are suggestions? Who else has had this problem?
  3. Look here to read about how I fixed this... Hope that helps! Let me know how it turns out.
  4. Everyone here has given good advice... so I thought I'd throw in mine. CA Boots are really, really good! I mean, they're a REAL boot company that has decided to make "costume" boots. ---------
  5. I was told I looked that young a few months ago too... and I'm almost 36 (in June).
  6. There are a lot of posts about this very topic all over the boards. And, if you want, you can see where I asked this very thing (pretty much) when I got on a few months ago and what everyone said. The link is ----------- Hope that helps too! (btw... I ended up with the FX and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!)
  7. Yes, can you send a pic? Are you sure you're putting them together correctly? (we could be sure too with pictures)
  8. So, does anyone have any tips to remove hot glue residue off the edge of the outside of the lens? It's not bad enough to care if I can't get it... but it's one of those little things that bugs me. I don't want to use an exacto, because I'm afraid I will scratch them. There has to be a "trick" out there... anyone know it?
  9. I thought of Jawas, but you'd sort of have to be a sandy to do that wouldn't you? I've been thinking and thinking of something to suggest and can't come up with anything better. And we can presume Jawas are all over the galaxy. What about a mouse droid? Or what about an X-Wing out in space? Yeah... Jawas are the best.
  10. Well, I went with the Stunt and am very, very happy! Thanks guys for all the input!!
  11. Well, from these couple of posts I'd say my choice to do Stunt is the right thing to do! Thanks for the input so far guys!
  12. I like this a lot... might have to do / try it. Thanks!
  13. I hit "reload" this morning and noticed right away!
  14. Same here.
  15. So I'm about to start putting together my first set of armor (thank you) and the biggest dilemma I'm facing is whether to do my helmet as "Hero" or "Stunt". Getting my TK ID is primary right now, but I know at some point (soon) I'm going to go for my elite status, so I'm doing all I can right up front towards that, and making my helmet specific is one of those things. I read one post on here at one time that people would rather wear stunt buckets than hero... and I know people, like Ketariniii, who don't like the bubble gray lenses because they make you "feel drunk"... but I still can't decide for sure (and stay with my decision for more than 24 hours). So... what do you all think? Which is "better" and why? Here's my list of pros and cons... HERO PROS 1) Since they were the "close up" buckets, they are the helmets people "think of" when they think of Stormtroopers. 2) You don't have to cut the 4th hole on the frown. 3) You can always, and more easily, convert from a Hero to a Stunt later on. 4) The lenses don't change the color of anything... you're not living in Oz... HERO CONS 1) The bubble lenses give you a warped view. 2) To be accurate you need to make 3 bumps, instead of the default 4, on the ear pieces. STUNT PROS 1) The lenses don't give you a warped view. 2) They look cool. STUNT CONS 1) The lenses make everything green tinted. (admittedly I've not worn one with the stunt lenses... so if this isn't so please let me know) 2) They aren't the helmets people "think of". 3) You have to cut that tiny 4th hole on the frown. Based on this, I'd do a Hero... but this is why I'm asking. Even though I have these lists in my head, and add to and take away from them everyday, I still can't stick to a decision. So why not bring a lot of other opinions into the mix to make things a bit clearer? So... what do you think? Hero... or Stunt?
  16. Oh... this is horrid... it REALLY is a VERY NICE "Halloween costume"... but that's it. It looks like it's made from thin flimsy plastic. And the seams and edges are just outrageous! I really trust it won't be allowed into the 501st... not without some MAJOR mods... like, step 1) throw away, buy real armor. I'm anxious to see it in person sometime... I'm sure it will be like a very, very obvious difference between "real" ones and... umm.... this...
  17. Congrats man! I ordered mine just a few days ago... am out of the country right now... but can't WAIT to get back to the states, open my boxes, and start getting it all together!
  18. Hey... even Ferengi can reform! Plus, that was a whole different lifetime (slash universe) for me.
  19. Yes, ever since I've known her she's known I'm into costuming... that's for sure. In fact, before we moved to Albuquerque she wrote an article for the magazine in Springfield, MO (417 Magazine... that's the area code there...) called, "I married a weenie..." (As in Halloween-ie). It started out, "My name is Celeste Green and I married a Ferengi." It went on to tell about me dressing up as a kid and all the costumes I've done... I think it even included Stormtroopers from my childhood... I can't remember right now. If anyone wants to read the article PM me... it was fun! (if I do say so myself)
  20. So do you mind telling us what each helmet is, starting at the top? ANH, FX, etc... etc...
  21. I too am blessed beyond belief with a wonderful wife who totally understands (and loves) my desire to costume. In fact, she is now getting into it herself and may, within the year, be joining the 501st as well!
  22. By the time the show airs "screen accurate" may become something completely different. I mean, they may "upgrade" the Stormtroopers look for the show or something. I wouldn't be surprised if he let 501st members in as extras and PROVIDED armor for them to wear during filming. I mean who better to get to be extras than people who know what it's like to BE a Stormtrooper? And what better way to insure continuity (on the show) than to simply have the armor be provided? He can afford it... that's for sure... I think... Who here has "screen accurate" armor? I'm still too much of a noob to tell much of a difference in the little profile pics.
  23. We're going to the UAE next week... will be there through most of March. I have a friend who lives there now that we will see who lived in Asia / China for the last 3 years. I will message her and ask for ideas... then post them here for ya. Have fun!
  24. I still think my favorite is Episode V... I like it for so many reasons, including it was the first one I saw in the theater. However, I really, really like Episode III. I will surely get some flack from that... but I just love seeing Anakin turn to Vader. It all made sense to me... and I thought HC did a great job. That scene where Obi-Wan is yelling at him is so powerful. And Sidious does such an amazing job of "wooing" him over. But, the first ones are always going to be the best in my mind... they're just the "real" ones or something.
