  1. I want to make sure everyone knows I agree with the original trilogy first... I just have thought about the other way a lot in lieu of possibly having kids one day. But, I really think I would end up showing them in the original order I saw them and then, after ROTJ saying, "Now we'll get to see how Darth Vader became Darth Vader!!"
  2. I've actually thought a lot about this recently, but not with showing to friends who have never seen them, but thinking about if we are ever blessed with children one day showing them. Of course my gut instinct, knee jerk reaction is to show them in the order I saw them... ANH, ESB, ROTJ, then TPM, AOTC, and finally ROTS... but... the more I hear interviews with Uncle George and read things about how the movies really are Vader's saga, the more I think I might show them to "my kids" in episode order instead. I can just picture showing TPM first and talking up Anakin... and waiting a year, or more, to show them AOTC... and then our kids talking about how Anakin gets angry and so on and so on... and finally, with ROTS our kids would freak out and not believe he fell to the "dark side" (of course I'd explain the Empire is in fact good for the galaxy). Then, when that first scene opens on ANH and Vader comes in the impact of WHO he is and the power of his story would be so powerful! Just my current thoughts...
  3. I used tin snips. I first marked a line the same distance (about 1/4 of an inch or less) around the top of the thigh pieces. Then just cut into it. Started small like that so I could cut more off if need be... cause, of course, you can NOT add more back on! Like I said, it worked great!
  4. I totally agree! It made me happy to see these pics and hear how flimsy it is. It is also sad... sad for the people who spent time and money producing this... sad for the people who will buy it hoping to get into 501st (or worse, gain elite status)... and sad for all of us who spend good time and money on making really good stuff and then end up seeing people wearing this. But, really I don't think we have much to worry about. There will always be people who don't know what they're buying and think because it costs a lot it is worth it.
  5. Oh yeah, I've had to make plenty already, and even had to rethink and redo some things in the last week. Finally wearing the armor around (which I'm doing every day to "test" it) reveals plenty that needs to be changed or fixed or whatever... which always forces you to make another decision. You really have to think things out though... taking your time and doing it right is sooo much better than wishing you had!
  6. I ended up cutting the tops down, AND trimming the points off the backs. MUCH better!!! Ahhhh... relief! I can go down stairs now!
  7. Thanks! Yes... I'm thinking no one would ever notice if I cut them... people just don't look "there" on the suit. Sort of like I shaved my goatee 2 nights ago... then, yesterday morning showed my mother-in-law my armor. Took my helmet off, talked about it for a while. Later I said Celeste, my wife, "I don't think your mom noticed I shaved." She said, "You had Stormtrooper armor on... I don't think anyone would've noticed."
  8. Here's where they are rubbing. Keep in mind this pic was taken prior to me gluing the backs... and / or making them fit tighter at the bottom. They are much less "tubes" now and more "cones" (narrower at the bottom) as they should be.
  9. Okay... the foam padding doesn't work. Still rubs. So I'm thinking trimming. But... should I un-glue the legs and trim the tops so that they still have the bottom ridge width? (un-gluing would be a pain... though it is hot glue, not ABS cement, and it's only on the back) Or should I trim the bottoms?
  10. Need some advice... the bottom of my thighs are rubbing horribly against the back of my knees. I need to either pad them, or cut them down some. I'm going to try padding them first... then maybe I will cut them if I have to. Cutting is ALWAYS a last resort though I believe! What are suggestions? Who else has had this problem?
  11. Look here to read about how I fixed this... Hope that helps! Let me know how it turns out.
  12. Everyone here has given good advice... so I thought I'd throw in mine. CA Boots are really, really good! I mean, they're a REAL boot company that has decided to make "costume" boots. ---------
  13. I was told I looked that young a few months ago too... and I'm almost 36 (in June).
  14. There are a lot of posts about this very topic all over the boards. And, if you want, you can see where I asked this very thing (pretty much) when I got on a few months ago and what everyone said. The link is ----------- Hope that helps too! (btw... I ended up with the FX and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!)
  15. Yes, can you send a pic? Are you sure you're putting them together correctly? (we could be sure too with pictures)
  16. So, does anyone have any tips to remove hot glue residue off the edge of the outside of the lens? It's not bad enough to care if I can't get it... but it's one of those little things that bugs me. I don't want to use an exacto, because I'm afraid I will scratch them. There has to be a "trick" out there... anyone know it?
  17. I thought of Jawas, but you'd sort of have to be a sandy to do that wouldn't you? I've been thinking and thinking of something to suggest and can't come up with anything better. And we can presume Jawas are all over the galaxy. What about a mouse droid? Or what about an X-Wing out in space? Yeah... Jawas are the best.
  18. Well, I went with the Stunt and am very, very happy! Thanks guys for all the input!!
  19. Well, from these couple of posts I'd say my choice to do Stunt is the right thing to do! Thanks for the input so far guys!
  20. I like this a lot... might have to do / try it. Thanks!
  21. I hit "reload" this morning and noticed right away!
  22. So I'm about to start putting together my first set of armor (thank you) and the biggest dilemma I'm facing is whether to do my helmet as "Hero" or "Stunt". Getting my TK ID is primary right now, but I know at some point (soon) I'm going to go for my elite status, so I'm doing all I can right up front towards that, and making my helmet specific is one of those things. I read one post on here at one time that people would rather wear stunt buckets than hero... and I know people, like Ketariniii, who don't like the bubble gray lenses because they make you "feel drunk"... but I still can't decide for sure (and stay with my decision for more than 24 hours). So... what do you all think? Which is "better" and why? Here's my list of pros and cons... HERO PROS 1) Since they were the "close up" buckets, they are the helmets people "think of" when they think of Stormtroopers. 2) You don't have to cut the 4th hole on the frown. 3) You can always, and more easily, convert from a Hero to a Stunt later on. 4) The lenses don't change the color of anything... you're not living in Oz... HERO CONS 1) The bubble lenses give you a warped view. 2) To be accurate you need to make 3 bumps, instead of the default 4, on the ear pieces. STUNT PROS 1) The lenses don't give you a warped view. 2) They look cool. STUNT CONS 1) The lenses make everything green tinted. (admittedly I've not worn one with the stunt lenses... so if this isn't so please let me know) 2) They aren't the helmets people "think of". 3) You have to cut that tiny 4th hole on the frown. Based on this, I'd do a Hero... but this is why I'm asking. Even though I have these lists in my head, and add to and take away from them everyday, I still can't stick to a decision. So why not bring a lot of other opinions into the mix to make things a bit clearer? So... what do you think? Hero... or Stunt?
  23. I love Lou Ferrigno... I got to have dinner with him about 8 years ago in fact. He had been in my hometown (Springfield, MO) at the time promoting a friend's Haunted House. I went to "Ziggies" (a 24 hour breakfast place) with him at 2:00 a.m... me in Vampire make-up. It was very surreal as my younger brother, 25 at the time, had just had open heart surgery (correction of a birth defect) and so had Arnold Schwarzenegger had just had HIS open heart surgery. So there I was, talking to Lou about the people we knew who'd just had open heart surgery, except for one of us that "person" was Arnold Schwarzenegger! Great pics too btw! And yes... that Vader looks excellent, as does your TK!
  24. Oh... this is horrid... it REALLY is a VERY NICE "Halloween costume"... but that's it. It looks like it's made from thin flimsy plastic. And the seams and edges are just outrageous! I really trust it won't be allowed into the 501st... not without some MAJOR mods... like, step 1) throw away, buy real armor. I'm anxious to see it in person sometime... I'm sure it will be like a very, very obvious difference between "real" ones and... umm.... this...
