  1. Got it today, thanks!
  2. Found an easier mod. I extended the shoulder straps, making it possible to lower the chest without a gap between straps and back. The gap between kidney and back is now nearly neglectible. Will post pics.
  3. Looks like it's just come off the set of ANH. Stunning.
  4. My TE2 HIPS is 5 years old and has 3 yellow spots on it. Nothing much at the moment but I'd like to prevent it from yellowing further. Was planning to paint it some time.
  5. How would one go about to protect HIPS from yellowing? Paint it?
  6. This is letters/small boxes only I guess?
  7. Support the ROTJ revivalism. That wonky lid needs all the help it can get What's the difference between Endor and Death Star ROTJ? Weathering?
  8. I'm thinking ANH-ESB-ROTJ in my first run. If I ever get to it
  9. I was about to post on this in another thread, but instead of hijacking I'd like to see if anyone else has though about this. To me, the stunt helmet is "the" Stormtrooper helmet. The hero features so rarely and I'm too young to have been baffled by ANH when it first came out. My question is whether or not anyone prefer the hero helmet to the stunt one, and if so, why?
  10. Detaching the elastic on the crotch was easier than I thought. Now the ab and kidney line up and the gap between kidney and back has been halved. Still a bit to go, but I've separated the crotch from the ab, hoping to gain half an inch there and hiding the gap behind the belt. There is now a 1 inch overlap between ab and chest, making it easier to move.
  11. Thank you for the advice. There is no elastic between kidney and ab yet, they do however line up when I don't try to pull up the ab to keep the gap between chest and ab to a minimum.
  12. Some new pics. Were supposed to be with a better camera, but as it had no battery, a cell cam had to do as I was already suited up. Here, the chest isn't very well attached, and I'm raising the belt to avoid a gap. This however makes the butt and kidney piece ride too far down. I'm thinking a bigger piece of elastic between the crotch and butt to try to alleviate this. Something has to be done here before I know how much shimming is needed to gap between kidney and back. Here you see the same pose showing the gap between the kidney and back. The butt piece also seems too big, but some strapping can be installed I guess. Gratuitous action shot, and the damn flared bicep riding up the shoulder piece. Haven't gotten around to strapping those two together. Right arm piece is off because it's not fitted and rattles around. I've also only roughly stretched the shoulder straps, as I'm not sure where to leave the chest piece. From these pics I recon that it can sit lower than it does?
  13. Nice advice on those gel inlays. I have chronic RSI in my calfs, so anything to lighten the pressure on my feet helps alot.
  14. Hey! I've seen worse lids on eBay!
  15. Duckface trooper camwhoring on social networking sites oh yeah.
  16. The calfs were narrowed down to perfect size by adding another strip of velcro to the insides, so instead of a butt joined seam they now look like the stunt ones that were held together by air and wishful thinking. The thighs on screen accurate armor are a bit to big for my lean build, but I think some padding will help, as will padding on the straight one of the arms, it's rocking a bit around at the moment. I've added a nylon strip with snap buttons between the ab and chest and now it doesn't rise above the ab plate. Wooo! If I had more clamps and magnets I could do more of this, but I kind of like doing one small step at a time. Next up is getting elastic between the shoulders and biceps.
  17. Thanks, I've been looking into getting a hobby iron to make the return edge.
  18. Here is the crotch area and I'm now fairly sure it's not as trimmed out as it should be. The butt piece clearly needs more trimming as there is a mold line. No mold line on the crotch however but it does turn from a clear texture to a rougher one, outlining what the crotch piece is. I am also fitting a harness to the entire ab/chest section to raise this up, further alleviating the problem.
  19. I mounted a rubber band from the screws that the lens is held on until I get better padding. It works really well.
  20. Have a kit coming from CAP-W that hasn't had shipping info updated since Jan 12th =(
  21. I'm doing some work today on my suit and it's mostly just small things while trying to familiarize myself with how the material feels. It's very fun, very zen. Opening up a few cold ones soon and then tools will be put away, and I'll watch TV with my lid on
  22. The two part epoxy glue worked wonderfully, but I will look into getting some e6000 come pay check-time. Adding snap tabs to the inside of the crotch to keep the thighs in place today.
  23. In ongoing runs/sales projects there are some forum members who offer runs of neck seals. As for blaster, I'm planning to get a hasbro blaster with doopydoo's mod kit.
  24. Apparantly, it's not allowed. Checked with an arts & crafts-supplier. Something to do with shipping fees of hazmats.
  25. I have taken some better pics but found I've misplaced the cable, will upload pics as soon as I get a new one. The solvent based glue I tried to use on the snap buttons on plastic plates didn't work, so now I've gotten a two component epoxy glue and some more magnets for it to glue overnight. Have bought velcro strips to properly fit the shins. I'll wait with the larger intrusive tasks until I feel ready and when I feel they are the last big task to complete.
