  1. Purchased my kit on Ebay last week specifically since they said the new kit now includes the T-tracks. The kit is known as Version 2
  2. Interesting thread (especially your description of dealing with dimensions and proportions). I know it's probably too late to say this since you seem to have done all the cutting but for future reference you should wear gloves for your cutting. For my build I'm wearing some Nomex flight gloves (they provide good tactile feedback and protection at the same time). I usually use them in the field but they are great in the workshop as well. You can find some here: http://www.uscav.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=8546&tabid=548 Keep us posted!
  3. Kaleb, You could also add reinforcing shims on the inner seam. That way your joint is held together on the inside as well as the outside. Good luck!
  4. Nick, I too am just starting and nervous as heck about doing this. I work in law enforcement and testify in court cases and all that stuff and that doesn't make me half as nervous as building my armor. That said, will this stop me or discourage me? Absolutely NOT! If your worries stem from being a perfectionist (as I am) get over it. Take a look at some of the original movie props they used and get a good laugh. You'll see how far from perfect they were. Remember, this is meant to be fun not stressful. If you need any help ask in the forums or even PM me. I might not have the experience but have been doing a ton of research (about 200 pages of notes) and am a newbie just like you. Damn the torpedoes! Full steam ahead!
  5. Some nice features there. I just ordered my Hasbro and the Doopydoos kit and will see if I have the patience to implement some of your ideas. Thanks!
  6. Always keep a positive attitude! Let us know of your progress. Cheers!
  7. Tiffanie, I hounded my current employer for close to a year and a half before something that was a perfect fit came up. 8.5 years later I'm still happy as a clam in my profession. Keep at it!
  8. LOL! Brian I concur with your diagnosis (and treatment) Mason, I will never be able to watch eps 4,5 and 6 in the same way. 'Size matters not. Judge me by my size, do you?'
  9. Agreed about the snaps needing to be big enough. However, I did a test by gluing a snap directly on to a piece of ABS (AM armor) to see what happens when the metal of the snap and the glue interact. It's been 3 days and the E6000 has not adversely affected either side of the ABS. I will continue to verify my test piece for any adverse signs. Please understand that I am not suggesting anyone do this as part of their armor build. It's just that curiosity got the better part of me.
  10. Just wondering... but is it safe to inhale that stuff?
  11. Michael, Looking great. Still wondering if I should go Hasbro or scratch build. If you had the choice today would you go Hasbro again or build from scratch (with the kits available)? Mike
  12. As a newbie to this I say, "Thank you for sharing." As an Army (Reserve) Intel officer, unless you have a reason not to divulge the info I say, "Put up or shut up." Cheers! BTW, I love this forum!!!
  13. @ TK4702 Excellent idea (and timely too). I just canceled my order for the Condor Helmet pads from evike.com . Both the green and black ones are on backorder for several more weeks and I hate being at the mercy of the manufacturer or reseller. Going to make a quick trip to my local Canadian Tire and see what I can find. Thanks!
  14. Check this mask's coloring http://www.vancouverobserver.com/blogs/alist/2010/09/30/mime-artist-yayoi-hirano-always-moving-forward
  15. Well, focus on getting better and school. The other stuff can wait. BTW, I love the ambient background sounds in the Death Star section of the soundboard (especially the Com Chatter) Get well soon.
  16. I just stumbled across this great repository of sounds at StarWars.com -------------- Perhaps these can be useful.
  17. Looking forward to your enhancements. Let me know if you need a guinea pig to test out your mods or need sounds. Cheers! Mike
  18. Ahhh... I see. Well, both silver or blue would keep the atmosphere light. Btw, have you thought perhaps doing the mask in flesh tone with heavily exaggerated shadows? There are lots of angles on the face so that would be easy ( doing the chiaro-scuro thing). Btw, I really like the idea of the remote control tip jar! LOL! Hey let me know when you put on your show so I can come and lend support/encouragement.
  19. What's the feeling you're trying to convey? Happy, sad, scary, etc...?
  20. Pat, So when do you want to start on my blaster? Just kidding... Wow! A real labour of love. Beautiful. Wish I had your patience.
  21. Well, I dusted off my PSP and can confirm that it works with firmware 3.40. Super easy to install (as you suggested in your previous post). It works like a charm. Nice work! Are you still planning on adding the static burst effect? Now to go play some SW Battlefront II (which I forgot I had on my PSP). Cheers!
  22. Very Cool! I downloaded it and will give it try. Thank you for sharing!
  23. LOL! Roger! Will do. Very daunting though
  24. Wow! I've modded my PSP before but never for this reason. Very interesting! Please keep us posted.
