OK I think I have figured out gluing the forearms one at a time and will give it a few day before unclamping before starting on the other one. And I decided to see how the pieces I have finished looked together. decided to re glue the back of the thighs to tighten them up a little more at the knee. I think its starting to take shape, at last. As you can see I will need a shim at the side, as I'm not a skinny trooper I think I will look at the white signs people have suggested. here is a shot with my bucket on

Is the 20mm on the join? if so can you split the difference between the two joins? the cover strip should cover up the gap, and the only way you would see it if from the inside?
-
OK my forearms didn't go to plan. The front join looks OK but the back join pulled apart to the point were I will have to pull them apart, clean of the glue and try again They are the last pieces of armor that need gluing. So tonight I will try to clean them up re-glue them and wrap them tight with tape use claps, hell sit on them for the night if I have too lol. Tomorrow I will get the other snaps and strapping I need to finish the build.

Ravenwood replied to Seeker's topic in ANH Build Threads
great work looking forward to following your build -
OHHH NO... can you selvage the bicep? where is the mis-cut? I think the wrapping the duct tape all the way around will be my next attempt the magnets are doing nothing. I am not looking forward to pulling it apart and cleaning off all that glue tonight The other pieces glued great just these damn forearms.... I hate them lol

I feel your pain. My forearms fighting with me too I had one side of them glued and left them for 24 hours then fought with the other side and finally got them (so I thought) This morning I check them and they have pulled apart about 1/4" so now I have to pull them apart, clean them up and redo them. Any suggestions on a better way to do this would be great. I have thick ABS and the magnets just are not doing it for me. HELP!
-
Don't panic none of them are glued yet they were just placed there for the photo. Once I have all the snap plates made I will start gluing them all in place.
-
I got some more gluing done tonight and worked on the belt and drop boxes. I should be able to pick up the snaps I need and 2" white strapping for the shoulders.

Congrats man... very well done, looking forward to that moment myself.

Looks GREAT! well done. I am currently rebuilding an old AP kit I picked up, but at this point wishing I had just brought a new one and started from scratch I hope it turns out half as good as yours when I am done. Once again EXCELLENT WORK!

Got most of the armor trimmed and sanded today and made a load of snap plates, I guess I didn't buy enough though will have to grab more. I Glued the shines and one thigh but ran out of clamps. I will try to get some more gluing done this week. Its starting to come together. I cant wait for that first fitting

LMAO.....

Thanks for the input mate and luckily this isn't high school lol, I don't care what the "movie accurate" people think of my armor I think it looks great and am really happy with it. The ab plates are removable and replaceable if need be. My helmet wasn't screen accurate as soon as I replaced the aerators with the mini speaker system, but it sounds and looks great.

Removable end caps.. genius... can use it for storage when trooping for keys and stuff. Bravo
-
OK finished trimming and sanding the abdomen and chest then fitted the ab button plates. Now I can show you how it looks. I think it turned out great.
-
The buttons them selves are the screws so you would never know that it was screwed from the front, like I said its hard to explain lol
-
This plate does just fit on top but with out the over lap. It should look good when its difficult to explain but the plate will be fitted with the button I used which are like Chicago screws, which mean I can screw the plate in place. Worst case, it doesn't look the way I want and I will have to invest in a new plate, but from all the test fits I have done it looked great.
-
got a couple of small things done today. Completed the thermal detonator and finished the ab plates of with the famous Vader Dave ab button. I think I will do the drop boxes next then the shin and thigh pieces next. Babay steps, but I will get it done lol

OK got a little side tracked.... got this in the mail.

Nice job, you are really cracking into it, you will be done in now time good luck and looking forward to watching your progress.

RT Mod ANH build for Greg
Ravenwood replied to jnnfr72's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
looking good, I really need to get motivated on mine. I finished my helmet and need to get the armor done. I know if I just cracked into it I could get it done in a couple of weeks. -
OK just recorded a video of the system in action. I am really happy how it sounds, you can really hear the fan system though, but all in all great I think. Sorry for the really bad video quality I was using my phone.
-
Helmet finished totally self contained fan and speaker system using the mini aerator speakers. It is a little tight to get on and off, but feels solid when its on, no wobble at all. I will try to take a short video of it in on and working. The electronics are from skull works, one switch turns on the fans the other the speaker system.
-
made some more progress on the helmet tonight. Got all the details done, reinstalled the brow and neck trim. Next is to install the frown mess and dark green lenses. After that I can start to install the fan and speaker system then the padding.
