  1. Thanks Sam, it was a lot of fun and now I know what works and what didn't lol. With out a ddoubtI will be trimming more out of the back of the knees on the thighs for mmobilityand comfort. The torso felt great, so its just those pesky thighs again. I think I will add a second snap to the torso where the thighs snap in, one is not enough and they popped a few times, which let the thighs drop. I really thought these thighs had given me enough trouble putting them together, but nooooo lol.
  2. Well I survived my first TK troop and only drew a little blood. I for sure need to trim more out of the back of the right thigh knee oche. All in all the armor held up great and I had a fantastic time. I will need to make a few adjustments before the parade on Saturday night though.
  3. Thanks Sam, I am gonna try to stop by a Home Depot and pick up one of those Job Boxes on the way there I am hoping some one brings a camera
  4. I may just have to pick up one of these.
  5. I trimmed the back of my thighs too, made a big difference for this short troopers mobility I may even consider trimming a little more, see how it goes on my first troop.
  6. WoW I hot glued the foam on the bottom inside of the thighs and what a difference, they feel more secure and line up nice too. I have a nice tube I store my armor in, but have come to realize that it is gonna be a pain in the a very impolite person caring it any distance. May have to consider a different storage/transportation idea.
  7. Thanks guys, this will be my first troop in armor so should be interesting. This will be an uunofficial Legion troop for me, as I am not officiallycleared, but have been given permission to do this troop. I am excited to see how it all goes the first time out in armor. I then have a night parade troop on Saturday I think I will wear my TK to, I was going to wear my Jedi
  8. I may have to just hot glue it in for now and look at Velcro at a later date.
  9. OK have my first troop this Wednesday night and I wanted to straighten up the bottom of the left thigh using foam on the inside to pad it out. I picked some AC seal foam from a hardware store I was going to use to pad out the bottom of the thighs. Do you think this stuff will work OK?
  10. Nice job. I will be interested to see how it turns out.
  11. Thanks Eric, This was the last thing I needed to upgrade to be able to apply for EIB status as soon as I get my standard approval verified. I just put in my approval application the other day... fingers crossed theres no hiccups.
  12. Yes Keith they are perfect and worked really well with the speakers after some mods. Thanks again
  13. looking really nice... so close now. looking forward to seeing the finished armor.
  14. Looking great Sam keep up the good work.
  15. OK I finished my Hovi mic mod last night. I used the mini speakers from a skullworx system. So here is a photo step by step of my conversion of a screen accurate resin cast Hovi to accept a mini speaker. I am really happy how they turned out and they sound great. I hope this helps some one that wants a self contained sound system in their helmet, but still wants to be screen accurate.
  16. I really like the system myself its compact and very easy to install. I am sure for those tech minded they could build something similar for a lot less, but thats not me lol. I finished my resin cast Hovi mic mod last night. I will post pictures in a little bit.
  17. Ahhh now it makes sense lol nice work.
  18. looking nice Sam, question how did you fix the holster to the belt?
  19. yeah its a little cooler up this way lol. the fans will help with keeping air flow and de-fogging the lenses. I need to add some screen over the fans though so I don't get anything caught in the fans lol. I will do that when I change out the mic tips.
  20. Thanks Sam, here is a picture of how it looks on the inside of my helmet, I found a guy on Ebay that sells liners for the helmets and it really finishes it of and is comfortable to wear.
  21. Yes Sam, the speakers are in the tips, I currently have the Skullworx system installed in my helmet ( http://www.skullworx.com/ ) but the mic tips are not acceptable for EIB approval so I purchased some Hovi replica cast tips from a guy in the UK and will remove the mini speakers from the skullworx tips and mod the Hovi to take the speakers. here is a vid of my helmet sound test with the stock skullworx system.
  22. Thanks Sam, I received my accurate Hovi tip and will spend the next few days modding them to fit my mini speakers. I will have to dermal out just a little on the inside and adapt them a little but I think they are going to turn out great. I am using the mic tips from my Skullworx kit (which is a great kit by the way) So I will have to dismantle the current mic tips to selvage the mini speakers from them to be able to install them in the adapted new Hovi tips. I will take photos of the process. This should be the last piece I need for EIB approval.
  23. Ok application officially submitted, fingers crossed
  24. Try lifting the abb and lowering the chest. Its so hard to position stuff with out strapping (I tried and it sucked lol) once you have the snap plates in place you can then easily play with the length of the strapping to fit your body size. I have to go the other way. I needed to lower my abb and raise the chest plate all the way up on mine to look right on me. Hope some of this helps and its looking great Sam.
