  1. Barry, its looking good keep it up. The thighs gave me some grief too, I had to take them apart and re do them twice.
  2. Still waiting for the holster, this sucks, it is the last piece needed to finish my build grrrrrrr. So frustrated right now I ordered it back in November :*( So this TK is in a holding pattern until the blasted holster shows up....
  3. very nice. excellent work and terrific pictures. Good job, I am sure it will sail through. I hope to have mine finished soon, still waiting for the holster I ordered back in November last year and that is really the last piece I am waiting for.
  4. OK got a little more done today. Trimmed the back of the tights so they will lift a little, they look good but I still think I will take a little from the backs of the knees for comfort in walking. I also cut back the return edge a little on the shins for comfort. I painted the rivets in the leg ammo belt too. I am gooing to shorted the straps from the bells to the shoulders today too. I am close to having everything fitted now, then comes the clean up of the armor. during my test fit I did discover one thing, I can NOT put on my helmet or remove it with my forearm armor on the lid is a really snug fit with the electronics and padding, feels great when its on, but its tight to get on and off. Also I cant bend my arm enough to turn the speaker and fan system on and off, which means I will have to turn everything on and put on my bucket before putting on my forearms or have some one help me lol.... now I know why we have hhandlers:)
  5. Great repair I have a hole to fill and will try this. The hole is covered by the belt, but I know it's there and it bugs me lol. Keep up the good work mate
  6. Thanks Glen. I have a return edge on the top of the thighs I think I will reduce that to give them a little more wiggle room that will help them raise up too. I have the holster coming from Vader Dave, which should be the last part. I would really like to get this finished and get my application in this month, then I can work on the little bits I need for El approval like the blaster upgrades.
  7. Thanks for the input Glen. I will see about shorting the strap from the bell to move it up and as for the bicep it cant come down any more it is right at the bend of my arm. I didn't notice the shoulder strap till you mentioned it, looks like it was stuck under the back armor, I will have to figure out a better way to put it all on and be able to check everything or have some one check it for me. My ab shims were working great when I put them in but seem to slid up, I need to figure out a good way to fix them to the ab plate they are velcroed to the kidney plate, may do that on the ab plate too. I think I will try rotating the thighs outward just a little that will allow them to lift a little but they are almost all the way up already so not to much room there. I am only 5'7" so I am sure I will need some trimming some where.
  8. Well did my first full test fitting tonight and figured out a few things. a. really need to trim out the back of the knees on the tthighsto be able to move b. fix the shim where it meets the ab plate. c. figure out what is the best order to put things on lol I may have to trim my forearms a bit to, I found it hard to bend my arms to put my helmet on and take it off. Well here are some pictures I snapped, be gentle. I had to use a remote to take the pics so a little off center sorry, you maybe able to see it in my right hand.
  9. Thanks Glen, yes it looks like its the wrong type for centurion, but I don't think my armor is up to that standard any how. I am going for approval and Hopefully El. Maybe I will replace the rivets in the future with split rivets.
  10. OK its 2013 and I WILL get this TK armor finished. I got more done tonight while waiting for midnight. I got the male snaps and brass rivet finished in the crouch. Also attached the elastic to the shoulder bells then heated and bent some ABS to create some hooks that I added to the biceps to hold the elastic in place. I heated and manipulated the butt plate to get ride of the flare to the sides. Attached the ammo belt to the right thigh and glued the snipper plate to the left shin. I also cut and installed the shims to the kidney plate to close the gap on both sides. I will do the trimming of the forearms tomorrow and then hope to do my first full fitting.
  11. Ha-Ha I didnt even look at the Thermos, that is too funny.
  12. Thanks Glen I took a look and they don't see where they sell parts just kits. I did find some one on the forums that sells the counters but I would still be missing the power cylinders.
  13. Well I was making good progress then went and got sick I am so close to a full fitting, I just have some trimming to do to the forearms and the strapping for the thighs to finish, then I will suit up and see how it all fits together. After that I will do the fine tuning and cleaning up, then take some better photos with an actual camera instead of all these quick snaps with my phone lol. I have been following the requirements for EL so at worst case I should get basic approval and hopefully EL approval too. I will need the Two power cylinders and a Hengstler counter for my blaster which I based off of Luke's blaster which didn't have them. Does anyone know where I can get these pieces in resin?
  14. Got most of the snap plates glued and the final gluing of the thigh pieces. Tomorrow I think I will work on finishing the belt. the shins are done.
  15. The problem with this is, I brought this kit used and wasn't trimmed the best, I have taken it apart and am attempting to make it as good as I can. Maybe after I have finished this build and trooped a little I will get a fresh kit and start from scratch, which is what I wish I had done in the first place now, but oh we'll it will look pretty close when I'm done
  16. The right knee will have the ammo belt on it so you won't see the alignment the plan is when I have it all fitted I till tidy up the pieces like the tops of the thighs. This armor isn't going to be as accurate as yours but for my first armor I am happy how its looking.
  17. OK I think I have figured out gluing the forearms one at a time and will give it a few day before unclamping before starting on the other one. And I decided to see how the pieces I have finished looked together. decided to re glue the back of the thighs to tighten them up a little more at the knee. I think its starting to take shape, at last. As you can see I will need a shim at the side, as I'm not a skinny trooper I think I will look at the white signs people have suggested. here is a shot with my bucket on
  18. Is the 20mm on the join? if so can you split the difference between the two joins? the cover strip should cover up the gap, and the only way you would see it if from the inside?
  19. OK my forearms didn't go to plan. The front join looks OK but the back join pulled apart to the point were I will have to pull them apart, clean of the glue and try again They are the last pieces of armor that need gluing. So tonight I will try to clean them up re-glue them and wrap them tight with tape use claps, hell sit on them for the night if I have too lol. Tomorrow I will get the other snaps and strapping I need to finish the build.
  20. great work looking forward to following your build
  21. OHHH NO... can you selvage the bicep? where is the mis-cut? I think the wrapping the duct tape all the way around will be my next attempt the magnets are doing nothing. I am not looking forward to pulling it apart and cleaning off all that glue tonight The other pieces glued great just these damn forearms.... I hate them lol
  22. I feel your pain. My forearms fighting with me too I had one side of them glued and left them for 24 hours then fought with the other side and finally got them (so I thought) This morning I check them and they have pulled apart about 1/4" so now I have to pull them apart, clean them up and redo them. Any suggestions on a better way to do this would be great. I have thick ABS and the magnets just are not doing it for me. HELP!
