  1. I really dont know the workings of the 501st stateside, so thanks on the info. I pretty much troop anything I can here, but I also do most of my own legwork to orginize it... 0000, Hope your troop is a good one! I am there in spirit man!
  2. Trooping is more than plastic, and its great to see a kid light up in your armor. Get the set you want bro, its your desision anyway.... There are long threads devoted to this subject on a lot of forums... You have a ton of reading to catch up on sskunky...
  3. Shoot me if I am wrong guys... AA did "make" most if not all the suits in ANH, he did not design it. He was contacted to produce the armor off the supplied molds from LFL. It has become a battle that he has now lost in a UK court. Pretty much AA tried to take credit for the design, something that is not true. Liz Moore sculped the armor. LFL won, and shut him down.
  4. I trimed a few peices to get the hang, and its not all that hard. The bells and hands are ready for sanding. I am diging up some refrence pics of ANH troops, and going from there. This is my first set of canon armor, so its a little diffrent build wise to the FX. I am still having thoughts of TD though... Gotta bash that outta my head. I really think I am just going to keep a pauldron around for my patches and such. Non-canon events... Might need some buds to help allign stuff for fitting. This armor is awesome... I love it!
  5. Wy wife thinks I am nuts now... A grown man excited this much by white plastic.
  6. Well ANH had started! T, you are the man! Here is another build thread, but hey, gotta share the excitement!
  7. Why would the Garrison not have intrest? Thats weird. Charity is charity right? I would come if I was home, to help a trooper out.
  8. Or down, depends on how you look at it...
  9. Are you Gellin'? This is going to sound totaly crazy... but I have thought of taking a casting of my feet, and making Silicone inserts for my Vader and TK boots...
  10. There is no way that armor will pass out of the box. I have seen it, and its horrible. If one got suckered into buying it, it would be hard pressed to be a good costume. I wanted to wear it at CJ, try it on and let the public see it on a person, not a shoddy manny. Rubies chickened out. Its thin, flimsy plastic and not well put together. On a bright side, the Biceps are nice. An 800 dollar set of biceps.
  11. Ugg... The Rubies.
  12. I have heard the same, Fully ready to wear and top notch. Two things I see though. Price. Like you said. It will be complete, so 1500 isnt that far off from what I read. That price might also dictate that it is a limited supply, I cant see shelves and shelves of armor that might not sell. Not to many will fork out that change. Fit. Not all people are cookie cutter. So, there will have to be adjustments, and thats where things could go wrong. How do you trim "Flex rubber"? What will go into the set being worn? I will take a seat and wait and see. These might be display queens, might be wearable. No one has seen one that I know of, so I am hoping they destroy Rubies. But as with all mass produced stuff, Time will tell.
  13. Musta been under a rock on this one... PP sent.
  14. Are you looking to replace things or start out? Shoot the Detatchment Armorer a PM, that should clear up a ton of questions! Good luck!
  15. I have actually gotten three complaments on my 501st Tshirts... Crazy. In Japan none the less... Cool to be normal again! I used to have a dress code... Dress blues.
  16. Thats what I was talking about. Great pic TM. Perfect!
  17. ESB ESB ESB!!!
  18. There are two ways I have seen so far to keep the chest in place. One is to strap them together from side to side, chest to back. The tighter the better on that one. I used snaps and flat rubber bungie on the FX I had. The better way would be elastic to be hidden by the ab, connecting the ab to the chest. This is how I am personally going to do the TM. It will connect and allow movement as well. sometimes in the last setup it would ride above the ab and get caught. I did not like that. This will allow some float, but not allow it to ride. Ill be adding to both the back and chest. I am sure others will have a few ideas as well! Best of luck man!
  19. I got a great email, and should be trimming plastic next week! You are the man TM!
  20. Hokka Hokka Chicken Nanban. Mmmm... Japanese food... Make a dayly run to the 711 here as well.. Love Japanese premade sandwitches...
  21. Looking forward to reading up. Never get a fill of knowledge, and Vader is my new obsession. TK not far behind. Just waiting for approvial! Site looks good!
  22. My CAboots smelled so bad, I left them outside. For three months. Everyday. They still stank. I sold them and got a set of the Darkside trooper boots. Much better. I could not get rid of the smell. I used fabreese, lysol, shoe stuff, still nothing. I gave up. It would smell up my armor as well if left in the tote. Some are worse than others, so I hope yours dissipates. I wore my CAboots once. Horrid smell.
  23. Now I have a different view... I use his pad for my Vader and love it. Is it hot? Vader is hella hot. But, Fans help that ALOT. Either way the bucket is hot, with or without padding fully. The look is what you are deciding on. I am one for a finished look. I think in the case of a TK, Painting and padding is better, but this option is cool. I also think ti will not solve the bobble... Thats why padding a TK is better. Cool though...
  24. Now... I say bite be gas bullet and go from 5.7 to 7.4 and your good... Hot Chevys are the only way to fly... Great ride bro.
