  2. Yep. that's where it should be trimmed. Where you have the snaps right now is just extra plastic left from the vac-forming. To be fair, AM is far from "trimmed" out of the box. They should either stop saying that, and/or make a better job of indicating where to trim.
  3. Nice work on the assembly. But I have one comment on a common mistake with AM armour. You've trimmed your buttplate incorrectly. If should be trimmed at the indicated line. It shouldn't affect your EIB, I'm just tired of seeing people make the same mistake over and over.
  4. And remember that you can stack magnets for extra pull.
  5. Wise move to go with TM if you have the budget for it. You will not be disappointed. It's also among the easiest to build actually. Since all the parts go so well together, you don't have to wonder, and they are all marked L and R.
  6. Too much return edge looks just as bad as no return edge.

  8. I guess the answer to that is "we don't know because we don't buy from recasters".
  9. Because AM2 is still only like 25% new parts compared to 1.0. And it's not that great still compared to accurate kits like TM.
  10. Hyperfirms are fine. Generally we accept more variation than what is written in the CRL, as the CRL would look more like a small book if we included every nuance in text. Also, while partsofsw.com is often correct, it hasn't been updated in like 10 years so keep that in mind.
  11. That's a bit of an overstatement. But it's better than 1.0, yes.
  12. Either is ok.
  13. Go to "Getting started - Read this first" ==> Sticky thread "The various types of armor and where to find them"
  14. The cover strips are not just for covering the join, but to provide structural support. Without them I imagine it's very easy to break apart the halves if exposed to any flexing. Like pulling on your shins.
  15. Rubber gloves (with liners).
  16. You're confusing legion business with private matters. The 501st Legion is prohibited from turning a profit through our troops. That agreement does not extend to non-members working on their own.
  17. Maybe you don't agree with the monetary aspect. But argument #2 still holds water no matter how you put it. Regardless of how you feel about it, those who did pay for screen used with hopes of making some money back might not appreciate getting recast. And at the end of the day, we're all still dependent on them as our source of casts from original stuff.
  18. The few people who have bought original helmets at auction for close to a hundred thousand dollars or so, just to be able to produce a product for us poor people kind of deserve to get their money's worth without someone copying theirs 6 months later. Recasting is hurting everyone as it makes the incentive of those with original helmets much less willing to potentially damage their prized possessions for our sake, and we end up stuck with worse products available than what could have been.
  19. Notice how there mysteriously are no sculpting pictures of the TK helmet.
  20. Just keep browsing the forum and you'll find good sellers of both. For Centurion you'll need rubber gloves and latex hand guards. Karin, aka "Sonnenschein" makes some really nice ones. Just pick up a pair of cotton glove liners at your hardware store to use inside for soaking up the sweat.
  21. I do too and TM fits me just fine. You'll even have room to spare.
  22. This is not a cheap hobby, and generally speaking, what you save now you spend double when you realize you want to upgrade. It's always better to buy quality from the start and not have to upgrade. Don't rush and think you have to buy everything at once. Take it easy and save your money for the good stuff.
  23. Until you know what you're doing and have built a suit before, use E-6000.
  24. INC only carry the lightsaber if you use that skin as the star killer character in the game. The actual INC's do not.
