  1. Congrats, Michael! You look great and I will hopefully see you in a joint troop sometime (Celebration at the least). ------------------------------- On the topic of EIB and Centruion...my view is that EIB is mostly a checklist award and Centurion is achieved by actively demonstrating the willingness to go above and beyond. It's derived from and embodies the spirit of troopers helping troopers. The application post being the start of a journey, and the suggestions are opportunities for improvement. That an item might be missed on an earlier application is not a misfortune for the current person but a boon for a better suit. That said, I readily admit to having a few moments of exasperation during my application process. During those times I considered backing out and being happy with EIB. While I know it is not the intent, it can come across a bit like being picked on, death by a thousand cuts, etc. It would be nice to have a more thorough and ongoing list of items. It would save frustration and time for both the applicant and DO. I don't think applicants are looking to skirt requirements, but the process can be nebulous and feel a bit like a Sisyphean task at times. In the end it comes down to fit and polish relative to the applicant's body size, body type, and the armor kit of choice. There isn't a way to encapsulate that ideal that doesn't involve visual inspection and possible adjustments.
  2. Very nice! The suit fits you great. Per suggestions on my Centurion thread, I toned down the brass on my Hyperfirm scope. A light dusting of semi-flat black did the trick. Also, the handle shouldn't be weathered. Not required but a nice touch to accuracy.
  3. I'm 6' and my AP is maxed out on me. It took several rounds of strap adjustment to make it fit properly. While the suit looks great, I would go for a bigger one if I had the chance to go back... or for my next one.
  4. Check out my Centurion thread (and AP build thread) linked in my sig. I have pics of my stuggles. It took the most effort of any part of the kit.
  5. Hot glue. Wet a rag with cold water and hold it on the opposite side to prevent any warping. I've never had a problem with this method.
  6. Excellent walk through! You do very impressive work and I really dig my acolyte mask from you.
  7. Looking at the pic again I see that the belt is too tight and too low. Try to keep the space between the ab and kidney plate more parallel. If you're going for EIB/Centurion you'll likely need to shim the sides as well. For placement it should rest about 1/2 to 1 inch above the cut. I know as I had mine the same way. I ended up using nylon strips instead of elastic. That kept the top part from stretching out.
  8. Looking good! There are several challenges parts to the AP build, but it's a great looking suit in the end. Keep it up!
  9. I have the same issue with my butt plate. Can't help genetics. Once you get the full suit on you can adjust the tightness and location of the belt along with the length of the crotch strap to find the right balance.
  10. Woohoo! It's a been a loooooong, challenging journey for me but well worth it. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement, critiques and patience. Now...what can I upgrade next... Cheers!
  11. I think it's the light on the outer ridge that makes it look that way. But they both open to the inside.
