  2. The Jimmi thighs are TALL. Like really really tall. I suspect a 6'4" trooper would still consider cutting a little off the top. The torso is also quite generous. It allows for big and tall very easily. Jimmi delivers very quickly also. I'm 5'11" and 165 and needed to trim a lot of thigh height from my Jimmi kit. I've yet to trim the torso but it's coming up. It covers half my chest in standard configuration and needs to be under those black bridge pieces. The few issues with the Jimmi kit are the center back trauma panel and the rather small shoulder bells. Small bells are the R1 style, so they're correct... but they just look a bit small on every trooper I've seen wearing them. The trauma panel is easily replaced with a printed one. Many also replace the shins with more accurate printed ones. I've not yet finished my kit and am on the fence about those shins. They seem fine to me, but I may end up printing some anyway. I don't wanna speak ill of anyone, but the 850 armor could... well... be better. Details are rather soft and some garrison mates have had delivery problems. 850 also DOES still need some paint but you get the added task of trying to paint match the ABS, which can be a bear. When the super-sturdy and sharp Jimmiroquai option exists, I wouldn't even think twice about 850. I didn't. I also have no input about how the 850 fits.

  4. Since the Monaco White was a match, I returned to O'Reilly Auto Parts and was helped by Pat, who stayed beyond the end of his shift to mix my paint. Thank you, Pat! I left with two spray cans of the white and a can of gloss clear coat. I gave the helmet three light coats with the Monaco White. I painted the frown with Humbrol Pale Grey Gloss. I made the seven pieces for the vocoder. Using some electric fence wire, I cut and bent the seven individual pieces. They were a little loose inside the tubing so I wrapped just a bit of electrical tape around them then slid the rubber tubing over the wires. When fitting the curved pieces under the tube stripes, I realized I needed to remove some additional material on the inside of the helmet just to make their placement a little easier.

  6. Hi James and welcome to the FISD! We are very happy to hear that you found our getting started section before buying items from the places you mentioned first. If you have interest in joining the 501st then unfortunately you would have had a super uphill battle ahead of your with stormtrooperstore. Anyway, AP is a great choice for armor. The other options you can look into if you are US based is Imperial Surplus who sells MTK armor at an attractive price as well as you can look into Walts Trooper Factory. There are tons of build threads on our forum for you to browse and utilize to help you with your build. Also, check out Youtube as well. Good luck with your build!

  7. Anything under pressure while gluing I tend to leave a little longer, 48 to 72 hours is best. You can really squash down the armor and tape around a few times to get cover strips to sit flatter.

  9. When I access imgur using Chrome on my regular PC, an ad appears at the top and a three-second countdown appears on the right, after which the entire screen goes black. At first I suspected that it was due to my PC settings, and searched various websites, but the cause remained a mystery. I realized that I could turn off the intrusive ads by using an incognito window, so I started using imgur little by little. Is my use of Direct link correct? I used some leftover armor scraps with E6000 adhesive to trim the corners of the upper arms at an angle, which is a characteristic of TLJ.

  10. Thank you for your quick reply. I will look for the DIRECT LINK option and try that.
