  1. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Lots of further links to check out, thanks for sending that one @gmrhodes13, I'll add it to my reading list. Yes @Nairy, I'm looking at going for the higher levels of approval and hope to aim to incorporate them into my initial build to avoid remaking some elements at a later date but I'll have to see what is possible. I've registered with UKG @Sithping but not come across ISG yet so will check them out, thanks for the tip.

  3. Hi FISD, A couple of months ago I watched the feature on Netflix about the 501st Legion and discovered this amazing community of Star Wars fans and dedicated costumers. The best advice I've found at this early stage is to do loads of research so I've enjoyed many hours of poring over numerous posts, gleaning knowledge and building up an idea of which costume to start with and how to go about it. Whilst I enjoyed the prequels and sequels as they were released, I grew up watching the OT so these episodes represent the classic Stormtrooper for me personally. For a newcomer such as myself there are a number of factors inclining me towards the ESB TK. As they're UK-based RS Propmasters seem a logical choice and have a good rep for screen authenticity. I'm really looking forward to both the build phase and out trooping, joining the 'bad guys who do good'.

  4. Thanks so much, Mario! I've put some safety pins in the elastic on the drop boxes from the inside to secure them in position. Can't believe I hadn't done that sooner. It makes it sit perfectly each time. I've stretched the elastic, so it does sit that little bit lower, but didn't get those pics on the last reshoot. My wife is going to kill you (me) ? I'll update those photos ?? I've fixed the positioning of the belt, but need to get more photos. The only problem I'm going to have is my shoulder bells. I'll make sure the undersuit is tucked in cleanly, but that's probably as close as I can get them sitting to the chest plate with my build. I actually had new shoulder bells made and they sit a LOT closer than before. I've also doubled over the white elastic bridges to prevent them from showing, but I've got broad shoulders, so it's a challenge. I'll see if I can get some more photos today. Thanks again.

  7. Hi Chris, Glad to read you have been making the fixes and I'm sure you look much better. In order to place that Centurion Badge under your name , I'll need you to make a last effort brother, and that is to update the full body photos , (not only for the records but to avoid confusion on those new builders who come to check the approved submissions). Once you're ready to take the photos, please take care on checking twice the following: 1- Check if you need to shorten the shoulder straps so they can close the gap with the Shoulder bridges. Note the black inner clothes sticking out of the right shoulder bell. CRL L3: There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates. You could use a piece of Velcro behind the belt to allow it remain in place almost touching the Buttons plate. CRL L3 : The top of the ABS ammo belt should sit at or just above the bottom of the central and vertical abdomen button panels. A common solution for this is to add a dab of E6000 in between the Drop box strap and the ABR Belt the fix it. And you may want to check if you need to longer a bit the strap of the right side drop box CRL L3: Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. Thank you for your effort and patience .

  9. Welcome to the FISD. Pretty sure I've trooped with most if not all the people in Heroes of the Empire. It was filmed the year I joined if I remember right. Lots of great people, many are still trooping. Not sure where in the UK you are but between the UK Garrison and Imperial Scottish we have pretty good coverage and lots of events all year round. RS is a pretty good choice but do check out other options, and I would encourage you to build your own kit if at all possible. See you at a troop

  13. Thanks Mario - I know it's a crazy time of year! I've made a couple of changes - fixed the belt so it sits level and flat (looks so much better!) and repositioned the button cover so it's also square. Moved the drop boxes to align with the end of the belt. It touches the bottom of the small Ab plate. Any higher and it really leaves a weird gap either side/doesn't sit well. Flattened my brow - no more lump! Trimmed down the cover plate on the TD to give a few extra mm space to the end caps. Couldn't get the end caps to move, which would have been much faster . All dimensions are spot on now. Strapping adjusted to make the V-tabs work slightly better. Only minor, but they're plates are flush. Also did up the belt supporting the thigh armour to keep it out of sight. Also gave the E-11 a sand in a few places and repainted/weathered. Those spots shown were a result of build up of paint. I've stripped it back and repainted more evenly. I've updated my original post with the new pics.

  15. Hi Eric, Thank you for your EIB application. Your armour is looking great and I must comment that I think you have the cleanest paint job on your ab buttons that I have seen to date. Before approving you for EIB, we are going to need a few fixes to your kit. Lets start at the top and work our way down. We will also need a bit of white paint on the tip of your Hovi - Mix Aerators. This should be a pretty quick fix with a few minutes of painting. CRL L2: Correct Aerators/Hovi-MIX tips are present. Screens used shall be of a wide type mesh, with the rim of the mic and the inside white or painted white. References Shoulder armour / Biceps Your shoulder armour strap looks to be a bit loose I suspect this may be due to the biceps armour piece sitting too low. The shoulder strap should wrap around the body of the biceps. For a better overall look, we will ask to bring your biceps and forearms up a bit to provide symmetrical gaps between the biceps and forearm and the forearm and hand plate. This will likely just require some minor modifications to your strapping. References Hand Plates Your hand plates do not appear to be completely attached to the gloves. They should not be lifting as seen on your application photos but instead should be completely attached on all sides. A few minutes with some adhesive should easily correct this. Basic CRL: Roughly pentagonal in shape, the hand plates are mounted securely over the back of the glove. As an alternative to plastic, these may be made out of latex or latex-like material. References Thermal Detonator The control panel detail on your thermal detonator is a bit too high. The circle portion and raised rectangular sections should face to the back and not up. This can be corrected by carefully opening up the curl of the bracket to allow the detonator to roll down a bit, allowing the panel to face more to the back. Basic CRL: The white control panel raised ribbed pad faces the rear, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap. References Shins When dressing, ensure that both shins are sitting evenly, your left shin is sitting a bit high. This can be fixed with a bit of velcro between the bottom of the shin and the tongue of the boot. References
