Hello all! I'm Josiah, 25 years of age, living in the Empire City! I'm an Emergency Medical Technician and currently work at a hospital as a Hyperbaric Medicine Technologist. Just recently I have come across this world of forums and I have to say... I am ADDICTED! Been reading through all the valuable information and tips on putting together TK kits. This community is amazing and super helpful! Just recently, I placed an order with RS Prop Masters for a fully commissioned Sandtrooper kit. From several threads, I have read that with RS Prop Masters, there are minor tweaks that have to be done to prepare your costume for approval. I've gone over the MEPD Costume Detachment and familiarized myself with the requirement my kit has to meet. I have tried searching for the changes that have to be done specific to the RS Prop Masters sandtrooper, but haven't had any luck. Would anyone be able to provide me a link? Also, is there anything I should consider buying from here until I receive my kit? Anything that would add to my comfort while trooping if my armor gets 501st Legion approval? So far, I have ordered a TRamp Voice Amplifier. Thinking of purchasing Troopacoola fans for my helmet as well. Thank you, wonderful people!

Hello there troopers, Matt from sunny Queensland here. TI-91397 reporting in and looking to add a TK to the front of my number to have the option of wearing the black armour or the white armour on troops. I recently acquired a set of Shepperton Design Studios tk armour that needs a little tlc and some minor adjustments to fit me correctly and I can’t wait to join the ranks of FISD.

Welcome aboard Josiah! As a recent RS commission receiver I can tell you that they do indeed do some awesome work! One thing that I found helpful for comfort was some one inch craft foam and industrial strength velcro to hold it in place. The foam will help the pinch points and keep certain pieces in place, notably the forearms that like to rotate. Welcome to the FISD, Chris! The good thing about getting your armor approved by the Legion is that you will have access to all the events ("troops") in your area. You simply sign up for the ones you want to attend, and you will be in the company of fellow TKs (and usually all sorts of other SW characters). This makes things all the more fun, and you will get to meet like-minded folks and make new friends who share in our hobby. As others have said, I personally don't suggest wearing your armor in public unless you are with a group of others who are doing the same. Comicons are the exception, of course. Plus, when you are on an official troop, you will have the benefit of "handlers". I have more information on that in my thread here which may help. Don't be a stranger, and always feel free to contact us with any questions you may have at any time (no matter how small). We are a very friendly bunch of folks are here to assist you in any way we can!

It wasn't so much the costume as it was the blaster... people get nervous when they see a gun. Go figure. I wore my costume in non-501st situations (all within the last two years due to Covid peeing on my trooping parade). It was never for promotional purposes and, more importantly, I never mentioned the 501st or did anything that would make people think I was affiliated with the 501st... well... aside from being in a sweet stormtrooper costume. But yeah, when in doubt, stick with your garrison buddies and follow their lead.

Well it is frowned upon a little because we mostly can't, but as a non member you can do what you like although I would check with the store first, sometimes Stormtroopers can get stopped by the authorities

Happening more and more these days with the amount of sellers on Facebook and Etsy, unfortunately many are just after a quick buck and leave people in the lurch without supplying anything, this is exactly why we have a "vetted sellers" list BUT in saying that there are other sellers who do supply but it's always it's a case of buyer beware, do your research and feedback from others, if it's too cheap then it's probably a con.

I've gone through 2 sets of bell tabs so far, they can take a bit of strain depending how much you move around, not a bad idea at all adding more strength to them. With sanding especially with spray putty or primer/filler I use wet and dry sandpaper and water with a few drops of detergeant, learnt this through the auto paint trade, paper will glide better, not clog as quickly and of course no dust. Another tip is a list mist of black over your primed pieces before sanding, this shows any low areas or scratches as it will leave any black once sanded.

The detachment shirt run will be closing in a few days time, April 14th to be exact. May I suggests if you intend to order ,please do so as soon as you can, and where possible, try and order in groups. Freight as we are all aware, is out of control and these shirts will be shipping direct from manufacturer to you so we don't have to wait for them to reach a central location, then wait again for them to ship to individuals. Celebration Patches: there was a few miner delays with the factory due to Covid, but these have been sorted and looks like patches will be shipping out in the last week of April. Fire Teams and Fire team merch: recently we lifted the number of members one can have in a fire team, so please feel free to have larger teams if you felt the old limit we had was too restrictive. Our latest Fire team from the land of the long white cloud (New Zealand) Fire team Taniwha is the first team to have over 16 members (26 total currently). They are looking to improve togetherness and comradery in their region and the FISD fire team program is how they have chosen to do this. Their awesome logo can be found a little further down in this addition. Remember , if you wish to create merch for your fire team, you may certainly do so with approval from the Command team. As it is considered personal merch and not an official Legion avenue, there are certain elements that can not be included. Merch can not have the following in it's design. Any official legion logo, be it garrison, Squad, Detachment etc. Can not contain markings that indicate it is 501st or 501st related. If it does, it them must go through the appropriate channels for each department it affects. Local, Det, Legion for approval. When using Legion property, no variations of official logos can be used without express permission and full legion level approval. All legion referenced merch will use a merch slot for your local garrison or Detachment so we are less inclined to approve such an item without making it available to all our members and only in the event we have a slot available. New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. Another Reminder About Photo Backgrounds It makes our job a lot easier editing your images into the Expert Infantry Honor frames if you use a contrasting blank background when taking your action photos for your EI applications. Contrasting is not using a white/light or black/dark background while wearing black and white armor, it just doesn't work. Also taking photos outdoors, in sunlight, in the garden or in front of brick walls really makes the editing so much harder. A simple solution is using a colored sheet or a tarpaulin. Here are a few examples of backgrounds which make our job difficult Here are a few examples of backgrounds which make the job so much easier If possible please try to use a contrasting background when taking your photos, your GML's and GWL's with also thank you for it LFL Retail Moratorium Lift For most of the year we are under an embargo from LFL and can not attend retail locations unless prior approval has been given by them. At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Blu-Ray / movie releases, May 4th and Force Friday, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo: Lucasfilm has informed LEC that the retail moratorium is being lifted for two weeks between April 25 and May 8 (both dates included) to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with retailers of their choice to celebrate during the 2-week window with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising for these events. Although these retail appearances will be treated like an open invite, we may independently organize around these events. Lucasfilm will not need to approve or coordinate these. In the coming weeks, Lucasfilm may send out open invites and/or a list of ‘preferred’ retailers from certain regions who would welcome fans in an ‘open invite’ setting to participate at their stores within this event window, but we can still make plans (for events between 25 April and May 8, both dates included) with any retailer of our choice regardless of whether or not they appear on a 'preferred' list. One simple rule to play buy that also take pressure off yourself. Building armour is not a race, it's an experience . The time you take to get your build right is the best time in the world. If this is your first time with armour, enjoy the journey as much as you can, take your time, learn along the way as we all did on our first armour building journey. It's like your first troop, you will never forget it, so savor it as much as possible. The other consolation is you have a detachment full of experience at your disposal. Ask as many questions as you can, we are all here to help. You got this Tony, and we got your back.

It was only a matter of time before one of those lucky enough to have been part of the Mandalorian, would see dollar signs and decide to cash in. Me personally, I would have tried to get as many as possible to sign the armour and keep it as a memento of a truly once in a lifetime experience.
