  2. Hey guys, my name is Mike, 20 years old and from Hamburg in Germany! I am already a member of the 501st German Garrison with my 327th Clone Trooper and the number CT-12840. Spontanously I decided to buy an ANH Stunt Ironmotion kit from a friend of mine. After the convention last weekend I visited, where a few TK's where, I decided to start this build now! The thing is, that I bought this kit with no information about the build because of the cheap price. Thats why I have to start with informing myself about this (something I pretty good know fromy Clone build times) But I am really motivatet to start this project and I am looking forward to be one of yours as well guys, my name is Mike and I am from Hamburg in Germany! 4. You need to request higher access again once you are approved with a TK, it's different access to just legion approved . That is your legion forum profile not your membership profile, should be this link https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=21884

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Greeting fellow members, Not much to report this month so I'll give you a few Alerts and updates. The detachment shirt run will be closing in a few days time, April 14th to be exact. May I suggests if you intend to order ,please do so as soon as you can, and where possible, try and order in groups. Freight as we are all aware, is out of control and these shirts will be shipping direct from manufacturer to you so we don't have to wait for them to reach a central location, then wait again for them to ship to individuals. Once the order is in On the 14th/15th of April we expect to see the individual shipping charges come through not long after. These will be sent to you from the manufacturer. Even they are recommending group orders due to high shipping costs, so if you can combine with others that have ordered, you have 4 days to organise it and let James know so he can update the order sheet before he sends it off. TLJ/TroS CRL update Polls: These will be happening over the next week or so, if you have anything to add to the discussion as I mentioned in the March Newsletter, please do so soon. We are also looking out for a new CRL model, new parts and weapon images for the front facing pages and will be adding an extended gallery for finer details of these CRL's Please contact myself or our Chief Deployment officer justjoseph (Joseph) if you can assist. Celebration Patches: there was a few miner delays with the factory due to Covid, but these have been sorted and looks like patches will be shipping out in the last week of April. Keep an eye open for any updates James will place in the Sales thread. We hope to have these in everyone's hands prior to Celebration Anaheim. Fire Teams and Fire team merch: recently we lifted the number of members one can have in a fire team, so please feel free to have larger teams if you felt the old limit we had was too restrictive. Our latest Fire team from the land of the long white cloud (New Zealand) Fire team Taniwha is the first team to have over 16 members (26 total currently). They are looking to improve togetherness and comradery in their region and the FISD fire team program is how they have chosen to do this. Their awesome logo can be found a little further down in this addition. Remember , if you wish to create merch for your fire team, you may certainly do so with approval from the Command team. As it is considered personal merch and not an official Legion avenue, there are certain elements that can not be included. Merch can not have the following in it's design. Any official legion logo, be it garrison, Squad, Detachment etc. Can not contain markings that indicate it is 501st or 501st related. If it does, it them must go through the appropriate channels for each department it affects. Local, Det, Legion for approval. When using Legion property, no variations of official logos can be used without express permission and full legion level approval. All legion referenced merch will use a merch slot for your local garrison or Detachment so we are less inclined to approve such an item without making it available to all our members and only in the event we have a slot available. I dare say your local unit would share the same ideal. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact myself, our DXO Steve or our DMBO James for further clarity Stay safe and well With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader FISD Racing Shirt - CLOSED For updates you can find the thread here 2022 Celebration Patch Run CLOSED ***Update 3 April 2022*** Endor Finders has informed us of a delay from the manufacture of the patches due to COVID issues. You can find the thread here WE NEED YOU TO UPDATE YOUR BUILD THREADS As most would be aware we are diligently working through the forums updating watermarked images, missing images and broken links, this has taken over a year so far and has been a monumental task but there is still a lot of work ahead of us. Members build threads are one of the biggest areas of watermarked/missing images and we are asking you the membership to help and update your build threads yourselves as this is just too big a task for staff. Build threads requiring updates are being moved over to this area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/241-build-threads-requireing-maintenance/ Thank you in advance for your cooperation. New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found here for more information and how to access the files. Another Reminder About Photo Backgrounds It makes our job a lot easier editing your images into the Expert Infantry Honor frames if you use a contrasting blank background when taking your action photos for your EI applications. Contrasting is not using a white/light or black/dark background while wearing black and white armor, it just doesn't work. Also taking photos outdoors, in sunlight, in the garden or in front of brick walls really makes the editing so much harder. A simple solution is using a colored sheet or a tarpaulin. Here are a few examples of backgrounds which make our job difficult Here are a few examples of backgrounds which make the job so much easier If possible please try to use a contrasting background when taking your photos, your GML's and GWL's with also thank you for it LFL Retail Moratorium Lift For most of the year we are under an embargo from LFL and can not attend retail locations unless prior approval has been given by them. At certain times of the year this embargo is lifted, generally around Blu-Ray / movie releases, May 4th and Force Friday, the recent correspondence from LFL outlines the lift of the embargo: Lucasfilm has informed LEC that the retail moratorium is being lifted for two weeks between April 25 and May 8 (both dates included) to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4. All fans, costumed or otherwise, can participate with retailers of their choice to celebrate during the 2-week window with the restriction that costumed appearances must not be used in the advertising for these events. Although these retail appearances will be treated like an open invite, we may independently organize around these events. Lucasfilm will not need to approve or coordinate these. In the coming weeks, Lucasfilm may send out open invites and/or a list of ‘preferred’ retailers from certain regions who would welcome fans in an ‘open invite’ setting to participate at their stores within this event window, but we can still make plans (for events between 25 April and May 8, both dates included) with any retailer of our choice regardless of whether or not they appear on a 'preferred' list. Lucasfilm has also reminded us to adhere to any local government Covid guidelines/regulations when we make appearances. While we have an internal collection of pandemic best practices here, it was last updated in November 2020, and hopefully your local situation has improved since then. *REMEMBER* Always follow your garrison/squad/outpost guidelines when in comes to organizing Disney/LFL promotional troops, only command staff should deal directly with LFL. Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 Star Wars Celebration has started officially announcing guests and panels in the past weeks. This will give us more information to work with and work out a schedule for you, our members. Several staff members will be attending SWCA this year and we are planning to host some FISD events framing the celebration program. Make sure to keep an eye open for interest threads regarding our dates and look forward to such enjoyable events as the FISD group photo, a FISD meet & greet and more. Also don't miss the 501st Legion's 25th anniversary panel! The 501st group photo will take place on Saturday, May 28th, 9am. Our detachment schedule is soon to be announced. 7. This was my original mic mounting plan. This thread convinced me to not do this. But I had the hole pre-drilled and wanted to show how nice the mics fit in there. They also fit THROUGH a hole that size very nicely. A quick test with the mics taped into place here and the fans turned on discouraged me from doing anything with this mounting solution. I made some pencil marks at my approximate ear hole locations and test fitted the ears back on to see how much room there was for the SHA mics. And there was room! Plenty in fact. And the wires allow this sort of mounting. They bend nicely and there's space behind the ears in my AP bucket for this kind of mounting. This is a small rectangle of closed cell foam. It's high-impact seat foam I used to use in a racing bucket for Autocross. You do not need to use something this exotic. It was simply what I had laying around. A few layers of EVA foam would likely work, or even some open cell couch foam. Just something to isolate the mics from the helmet and confine them to inside the ears. My rectangles are about 32mm by 16mm. Full height of the material at about 25mm. They wedge into the ears quite nicely. I then hollowed out a recess for each mic. The foam is just there to isolate the mics, not to rigidly mount them. This type of cushion/foam has a canvas backing. I left that in place to hold the mics in as securely as possible. The mic and foam is gaffer taped in place. This seemed like a ghetto solution at the time, but it has the benefit of being accessible for service if needed. The mics are held in place securely, and it has performed very well for the past several weeks. I think the gaffer tape is a good mounting solution for this. The blue foam helped with mic alignment. If I saw blue foam while shoving the mic around, that meant it wasn't aligned right with the holes. Black = good alignment. I finished off the ear packet with some open cell packing foam that was laying around the garage. It's rather thick, but it compressed nicely. It further isolates the mics from inner bucket sounds. After being installed a few days I opened things back up to check on them. The packing foam compressed beautifully and there's not much stress on anything. Everything fits extremely well and there's no gap that wasn't there before. Fan noise with the helmet on and SHA running is precisely as loud as it is inside the helmet without the SHA running. So, while I can still hear the fans, the mics aren't picking them up at all. It's just what I hear inside the helmet anyway. I don't have words for how much I love the SHA and my hacked up headphones. Best bucket upgrade ever. Thanks again to @ukswrath, @fishgoh0nk and everyone else who has contributed to this thread.

  8. Thank you! I hope it's able to help you! Yes, I chose to do a magnet-to-magnet closure rather than a magnet-to-steel closure simply because the magnet-to-magnet connection is much stronger. I don't know if all that strength is necessary, but it works perfectly for me. I couldn't find a metal strip that had the same 'grab strength' as a magnet-to-magnet connection. Hm. I'm not entirely sure! Just a guess, but I don't think I would use a thinner magnet because the 3mm magnets seem to be the perfect thickness for the ABS on the shins. I am fairly sure that you need the magnets to be the same thickness as the ABS you're working with. On my RS and WTF shins, the ABS was 3mm thick on the cover strips. Also, if you are using thinner magnets, they may end up being a little more fragile. And I'm totally guessing here, but thinner magnets might not be as strong? Ah, the thigh-fit question! I had the same questions, too. Some troopers prefer them to fit more like board shorts, kind of loose around the legs. I've heard everything from leaving 3" of space to leaving about an 1" of space around. Me, I prefer my thigh armor to fit well on my legs. I don't like them rattling around on me. I don't have a lot of space in mine. They're not super tight, but they certainly don't rattle around. Mine fit me like a pair of comfy jeans around my thighs- not too loose, but not too tight, either. They are tapered, meaning that they are larger at the top, and smaller at the bottom. (me, short trooper in my RS Props kit) Hope that helps!
