  1. Dear fellow Staff members, Troopers and future Troopers, As Sarah mentioned in a previous post, it is with a heavy heart that I am stepping down in my role of Executive Officer of the FISD. Over the last few months life has thrown me more than a few curve balls, including personal issues, 2 deaths and a hurricane to boot, which in my opinion have precluded me from having the time to effectively perform my duties, and for that I add my sincere apologies to you all. Those of you who have known me over the years know that this Detachment and the people here have honestly meant the world to me, and it has been both an honor and a pleasure being a part of such an incredible group of folks. Although the dust is finally beginning to settle (at last), it will be several weeks before life allows me to get back into the swing of things here 100% as in recent years, but I promise I will get there. After speaking with Sarah, she has graciously offered that I step back into my previous role as Deployment Officer. This will allow me the chance to serve the FISD in the area that I know best, and I look forward not only to returning to assisting future Troopers, but helping those aiming for EI and Centurion attain their goals as well. A big THANK YOU to all of you for bearing with me. Your kind thoughts/comments and personal PMs have helped get me through the recent months more than you will ever know, and an extra big thank you to Sarah for her understanding and keeping me on as part of the Staff. Also, I'm sure that you will all join me in welcoming Brien as our new XO. He is a true treasure here, and I am sure he will continue to go above and beyond to make sure that this Detachment continues to be the best one in the 501st! My very best to you all, and I will see you on the boards a LOT more. Troop on, Joseph

  2. Troop #1: Cincinnati Comic Expo 8/21/19 The Cincinnati Comic expo was the debut of my costume! I wore it for nine hours and it was surprisingly comfortable! I know that sounds really weird, but comfort in a costume for me is not having to worry about anything falling of, or slipping down. I also installed fans in my helmet, so it was actually cooler with it on, than off! It was SUPER crowded there and I was stuck in the con floor with people crammed in all around me. I was a little bit worried that people would get mad at me if I stayed in character and I wasn't sure if I would do it, but I got so frustrated because we were in dead stop traffic that I just yelled "Step aside!!". Surprisingly everyone did! I could hear people laughing or saying "That's so cool!" As I pushed past! So for the rest of the day I interrogated people and forced my way around as if I owned the place! Just like a real stormtrooper! The costume also won first place in the Journeyman level of the costume contest! Journeyman is the second of three levels. The Kenner card they had there worked out perfectly! Even though my costume was pretty comfortable, it was still a long day I would also like to clarify any misconceptions about EVA foam not being sturdy. I wore this thing all day and it received little to no damage. I you know how to make it correctly and don't crash around like a bull in a china shop, then it will be fine! There are a few upgrades I am working on. I'm making a new TD because my original one is too small. I will also be adding some more velcro to my TK belt, because it was slipping down just a little with the weight of the holster. I'm also working on a pauldron, R1 style hard field pack and a T-21 blaster for Halloween! I'll post pics of them when I am finished!

  9. My cat's name is Falcon, after the Millennium Falcon. Pretty sure she'd make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs based on her morning (and afternoon and evening and night) zoomies. Cat tax:

  10. She's going to the chromer tomorrow!!! Don Valenzuela of Don Valenzuela's Autobody in Clovis is going to be doing it for me. His main business is autobody painting and work, but he's also an artist and has done beautiful logos for some local wineries. I'll be dropping her off after work and then... then I can work on all the other stuff in preparation for when she gets back. Gotta wrap up cutting out all the fleece for the cases I'm making for all the parts while I still have them tonight.

  11. I tried on my armor and helmet with the Pauldron with the new mag pouch riveted to the side. I don’t really have much more limitation that I didn’t already have without it. Mainly just more sticky around the chin area because it rubs on the Pauldron instead of the armor, but no big deal. I’ll know more after my first Troop next week. I’ll be taking full body pics for my EIB submission! More weathering incoming! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
