Daetrin[Admin] Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 I didn't expect my helmet build thread to turn into a debate; There was a discussion thread for that. Agreed. OK, this thread is about a helmet review, not recasting. If I see one more post that's not relevant to the review of this item, I'm suspending accounts and deleting posts. Get back on target gents! TK4205 Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 Wash it first with warm soapy water. Prime several or more coats. Sand with fine grit paper. Wet sand with superfine grit paper. Let dry well and paint. Quote
TK4205 Posted July 12, 2009 Author Report Posted July 12, 2009 I always wet sand, with good results. Quote
oiftanker Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 what do you consider fine and super fine grit... i mean technically 150 is fine but you can get automotive in 1000 and maybe higher Quote
oiftanker Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 ok well i'm going to sand it next week then paint again with pink at closer distance then wet sand till its smooth and then hit it with clear Quote
TK4205 Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 The ears are trimmed wrong too... Thank you Mike, for pointing that out. I have since had more ears shipped to me. My mistake was cutting on the visible mold line. This particular set of ears were pulled with a lot thinner plastic, making that mold line stand out and naturally, I wanted to cut there. With my thicker gauge ears, I wont have that problem. Upon closer inspection of the high res shots, I can see that they actually cut below the mold line. Quote
TK1491 Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 beautiful bucket. Ive held one of those face plates in my hands and I can vouch that they are very sharp indeed. Quote
