A couple of things you may want to address before the DO's get here.

Looks like you may need to add a base/border to the large ab plate, yours has been trimmed off. You cold also trim a bit more off the smaller ab plate

IMG-1918.jpg

A fix is to glue a plate on the base of the ab plate then fill any seam with ABS paste (prior to seam fill)

PYYcfma.jpeg

Your detonator screws are a little on the large side, clips are a little narrow. Also check the gap between the control plate and end caps

Good luck with approval :duim:

Appreciate the feedback and I’m looking at how I can make these corrections. That said, I’ve just gone back and looked over the CRL level 2 criteria and don’t actually see any of this specified as required.

Is this level of detail indicated elsewhere?

Hi Larry;

Thank you for your patience while we looked over your costume. We are going to need some adjustments before we can give you the EIB certification. Let’s start from the top and work our way down.

Helmet

We will need a bit of clean up on your frown.  The grey paint should not extend up onto the gums.  This can be achieved by using a tooth pick dipped in mineral spirits or varsol (DO NOT USE ACETONE as it will melt the plastic) and carefully scratching off the over painted areas.

CRL Basic:  Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. A total of 8 cut outs in the teeth area of the frown are present.

   6YuHupg.jpg

References

H7JeX59.jpg  2rhTZBf.jpg

Your paint on your vocoder is a bit too wide and extends onto the bulge that holds the hovi tips.  Similar to the frown, we will need a bit of work to remove some of the excess paint.

Abdomen Plate

The gap on your right side between your ab Plate and Kidney Plate is within the required size but the left side is a bit too wide.  We made the reference image based on sizes of the known components of the armour (ab rivets at 5/16" diameter).  This may be corrected by tightening the armour slightly,  if there is no room to tighten it, then shims may need to be used.

CRL L2: Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide

                                                                                                    References

NsONp06.jpg a5kqcYv.jpg  wXTnZxc.png  rmkzl0d.png

Thermal Detonator

The control panel of the thermal detonator is facing a bit too much in the upward direction.  It should be brought down slightly.  This can be achieved by unrolling the clips slightly to reposition the placement of the control panel face.

CRL  Basic: The white control panel raised ribbed pad faces the rear, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap.

                                                               References

vC6LfBE.jpg   nqCxdRu.jpg  ZJLsGME.jpg

Your thermal detonator screws appear to be too large and should be replaced for a more screen accurate smaller flat or dome type slotted screw head.  Finally, your clips appear to be a bit narrower than those used on screen.  Replacing the clips with slightly wider ones would correct this.

CRL L2: Clips shall be attached with slotted type, flat or dome top style screws, and be black (two per clip).

CRL Basic: The thermal detonator is attached via metal or metallic-appearing clips, approximately 1" (25mm) wide

@DoggydocHere are updated photos after making the corrections and showing a better fitted abdomen plate. Hopefully this addresses and resolves the concerns.

@Larryebaum  Hi Larry, these look great.  would you be able to post a photo of your thermal detonator while in costume to show the control panel is facing in the correct direction now.  I can see you adjusted it on the above photo but just want to make sure.

@DoggydocAll good? What’s next step?

Hi Larry. Don't worry, we're working on it. Keep in mind that there are three of us in the DO office, and we're all in different time zones, lol...

Gerald is working on it and you will hear from him shortly...

Thank you for your patience!!! :TKSalute:

Hi Larry, and thank you for your patience while we looked over your  EIB application!

CRL and EIB Application Requirements:

All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry.   You have done a great job completing the requested modifications. Congratulations!  :salute:

Other-Armor Fit/Assembly;

In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team.  Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor, and please keep in mind that  we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions.

Helmet

The angle of your ears is a bit too straight up and down.  Ideally, the line of the screws should follow the back of the trap above the ear.  As different helmet manufacturers vary the shape and position of the ears, it may not be possible to get this exactly as was seen on screen.  This is merely a recommendation if you are looking to be more screen accurate.

Thermal Detonator

When dressing, please ensure that the thermal detonator is pushed all the way down on the belt.  Yours appears to be sitting a bit high on the photos.

Shin Armour

Please take care when dressing that your shin armour is properly closed in the back so that no velcro is showing.

                                                                                   ***************************************************

Centurion Requirements:

In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval.  Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper.

Shoulder Armour

For centurion approval, we would like to see your shoulder bells brought in a bit closer to your shoulder straps to minimize the gap.  This can be achieved by shortening the strapping securing the shoulder bells.

CRL L3: There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates.

                                                                          References

Cke0keV.jpg  Q2ywMQ2.jpg  HI64Qjh.jpg

Forearms

We will need a few minutes of sanding work on one of your forearms where there is still a little bit of return edge.

CRL L3: No return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed.

                                       References

mI00ybE.jpg      L0KcV47.jpg  b5AFw3S.jpg

It also appears that your forarms are a bit too large.  For level 3 approval, we would like to see the size reduced slightly to give a more fitted look to the armour.

LUkEi5L.jpg  MPCb03R.jpg  Panj2bK.jpg

Hand Plates

For level 3 approval, you will need to switch to latex or silicone hand plates and secure them without an elastic.

CRL L3: Hand guards shall be latex or latex-like, solid white or painted white, and affixed to rubber gloves with no visible strapping or stitching.

                                                    References

RX00bCP.jpg   TRMDpGu.jpg  FB6d8yk.jpg

Abdomen Armour

Unfortunately, you trimmed your large ab plate base off,  there should be a flat square plate under the raised rounded one. Also, your small ab plate could be trimmed down slightly.

CRL L3: Plate does not overlap the edges of this area and shall show a definite straight cut edge around all sides.

YGUd1aW.jpg  03R1YZ7.jpg kv3ofe6.jpg

If adding shims to the gap between the abdominal plate and kidney plate, please ensure that the gap is reduced to nothing for centurion approval.

CRL L3: Ideally there no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor. Abdominal and Kidney Plate align horizontally at top.

oQDz8Gz.jpg  5O5N90X.jpg   wXTnZxc.png rmkzl0d.png

Belt

Your right belt box is position perfectly but the left one will need to come back a touch.  A drop of E-6000 between the elastic and the back of the canvas belt can help to keep the boxes positioned correctly.

CRL L3: Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box

                                                                                                  References

rYBGn37.jpg  OvlskVt.jpg  EvsFFJx.jpg bk5fhX5.jpg

We will also need you to trim a bit of the hard plastic ammo belt to correctly align the edge of the 45 degree angles with the edge of the canvas belt.

CRL L3: The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt.

                                                      References

Gvau9bP.jpg  wdv4vNm.jpg  EvsFFJx.jpg

Thighs

It looks like you have some backing in the gap at the bottom of the right thigh but it is not visible on the left one.  Please ensure thath if you are applying for centurion approval, these gaps are filled.

CRL L3: Lower thigh ridge joins (front and rear) shall butt-up flush against each other. Any gaps must be backed with ABS or filled as not to be noticeable
