Giggsi Posted May 1, 2025 Report Posted May 1, 2025 Hello I wanted to get started with a First Order Stormtrooper build and was looking at denuo novo to buy the full kit. My question is if the kit is any good and how much I have to work on it to become accurate. Quote

My question is if the kit is any good and how much I have to work on it to become accurate. There are some inaccuracy with a couple of areas, depends on which version you are planning to make, it is more suited to a TLJ version, quite a few have been legion approved. Some joins need to be filled with either ABS paste or filler, if using filler you will have to paint. Joins on sides of abdomen, kidney, on top of the shoulders/yoke. There are a few DN builds in the FOBG area Justin has a nice build here Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 2, 2025 Report Posted May 2, 2025 Some photos of the seams needing joining and filling here Differences between TFA and TLJ Forearms Forearm differences TFA TLJ Cod Helmet TFA - TLJ TFA TLJ Recesses section bigger on TLJ on helmet, clips are also different 1 Quote
Giggsi Posted May 2, 2025 Author Report Posted May 2, 2025 I am planning to go for a TFA build, so technically there would be just some painting to do or are there some parts that are inaccurate in general? Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted May 2, 2025 Report Posted May 2, 2025 The kits are good, but as Glen has pointed out, there are some mode you require to meet 501st approval. TFA Anovos or DN helmets are fine for TFA Forearms need some mods as not accurate for TFA Side seams and shoulder bridge seems will need to be filled as they have obvious joins that don't exist on the original costumes These are the main focus points, but there are a few more lesser items you can make more accurate if you intend to go for Detachment based, higher levels of accuracy. Other kit makers also have some inaccuracies that you would need to modify, so there isn't really an out-of-the-box solution that doesn't require work. Definitley look through some build threads and keep doing your research. Soon enough, you will start to see the difference. Also check out our gallery section for screenshots and screen used armour images. Welcome to FISD, and we look forward to watching your journey to 501st approval Quote

Anovos yes but they closed down. DN is a different company. I ordered my kit last April and it arrived in about a week to the UK from memory. 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted May 3, 2025 Report Posted May 3, 2025 As Chris mentioned, Anovos, yes, either took years or didn't deliver. DN is the new company that took control of what Anovos had and was, and made good with many of those outstanding orders. They have proved that they can deliver without massive delays. The quality seems to be good, and many are very satisfied with their level of service. Check in the First order battle group section for other vendors who you can reach out to and ask questions directly about their turn around times and products. We do update this list when we get sufficient positive feedback from members. This section has loads of info and fantastic threads to support you. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 3, 2025 Report Posted May 3, 2025 Also have a look at the 3D sections, lots of FOTK weapons files available for printing https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/202-3d-file-depository/ Quote

Mworm1974[TK] Posted May 13, 2025 Report Posted May 13, 2025 Hey, good choice going first order, I’ve got a Jim kit and it’s still going strong since 2019. It’s made from flexible fibreglass. Don’t be put off by the material it’s just as strong and maybe slightly more forgiving than ABS. But as the others have said do your research first and don’t jump in without knowing the advantages and disadvantages. Quote
