Hello,

When I built my TK I used the bra strap closure method on my shins. The metal ends are becoming deformed and hard to get into the holes on the other end. I am wondering what other people have done instead of the bra strap closure and if there is a better way to close the shins? It is also a hassle getting them out at the end of a troop so ideally would like to just find a new way to securely close my shins.

Thanks,

Velcro works well for me, you just have to make sure the shins close fully, may need a little heat to get them sitting flush.

Velcro works great. Get some good industrial strength stuff too. I've had mine over a year and it holds up great

I believe the bra hooks are the best approach as they have some give when moving.  Looking at your setup how much stretch do you have in the elastic? With mine I have very little "pull" on the hook just enough to hold it all in the right place, but from how bent that hook is I am wondering if you have a lot of tension on it?  How much elastic is loose at the end as it looks like basically the whole length is glued down.

After 10 years of trooping, the Velcro on the back of my shins has started to come unstuck.

Time to replace it with new Velcro. It's worked a charm.

Sorry for the super late reply and thanks for the response. I do have the whole back piece glued down. The elastic has some give, but I don't have to pull on it a lot to get the hooks in. I used some pliers to rebend/reshape the hook and that seemed to help.
