Here's a EIB approved ESB and very similar if not the same (not the best photo), it must just be the decals And another Leave them as is, if you do apply for EIB you have references of others 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted February 8, 2025 Author Report Posted February 8, 2025 Installed the new TrooperBay decals on the cheeks, above the ears and the rear. 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted February 8, 2025 Author Report Posted February 8, 2025 How to the shins and sniper plate look? I want to make sure before I proceed with the rear cover strips and adhering the knee. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted February 8, 2025 Report Posted February 8, 2025 You do have a bit of a gap under the front, if you could get it to sit a little further back,, if not don't stress you can have a gap there. Sides are the BIG pain in the posterior OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Sniper knee plate must be aligned with the ridges on the shin. Here's one the DO commented on adjustments today NOTE: For a more screen accurate look, it is suggested that the top of the rear ridge of the sniper plate be aligned with the top ridge of the calf. Also note that the sides are angled rather than curved. Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted February 10, 2025 Author Report Posted February 10, 2025 (edited) @gmrhodes13 et al., How does the knee plate look here before I glue? I heated it a bit so it would conform to the angles a bit more. Should I trim on either side or leave as is? Edited February 11, 2025 by DocDan Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted February 11, 2025 Report Posted February 11, 2025 Sorry for the delay, we have a curb side cleanup in the area so been on a slow drive picking up some free items for Star Wars builds, we love free Amazing what people throw out. You could trim the pencil line on this side. You could also trim the curve on the inner corners, here's an EIB approved And the one the DO commented on, not the sharp angle of inner corner. If you use a small drill in the corner first it will help prevent it from splitting. Some EIB ANOVOS approvals for reference, each a little different to the other. If you could drop the front a little to make the gap under a little smaller would look better, but as you see some others have that large gap too Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted February 11, 2025 Author Report Posted February 11, 2025 OK-great! @gmrhodes13 Glen - I was wondering so that is why I made the pencil mark in that spot-cool 😃 I will make cuts more of a 90 on the knee plate and get less of a gap like you suggest. 👍 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 2, 2025 Author Report Posted March 2, 2025 Glued up the sniper knee plate. I cut away some of the material on the bottom to get it to sit closer to the front of the shin/knee. 2 Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 2, 2025 Report Posted March 2, 2025 Nice positioning, you can also trim the inner curve if you feel inclined 2 Quote
JBar[TK] Posted March 3, 2025 Report Posted March 3, 2025 Woah nice fit. That thing can be a real pain in the posterior armor and yours looks great. As mentioned you could make the angle a bit more sharp but otherwise I love it 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 3, 2025 Author Report Posted March 3, 2025 Thanks guys! Yes-my plan is to make that curved area a bit more sharp as you suggest. Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 4, 2025 Author Report Posted March 4, 2025 While the sniper knee is setting, I worked on the right shin. I was able to trim the cover strip to size and glue to the outside. I plan on using white Velcro for the final fitment. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 4, 2025 Report Posted March 4, 2025 Too late now but I didn't glue the full half on the outside shin, I glue a 1/3rd I find 2/3rds of velcro holds a lot better You may also need to adjust the closure, many use a hot water bath, wrap with tape a little more than you need and tape, when cool open and check. DocDan[TK] Posted March 8, 2025 Author Report Posted March 8, 2025 How do the thighs look with the cover strips? Want to make sure before I glue. Right Right Left Left Left 1 Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 8, 2025 Report Posted March 8, 2025 Looking good, I find in a few places I have to really push down with the tape while gluing so they sit flatter. You can nick/round the corners too on most armor pieces 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 14, 2025 Author Report Posted March 14, 2025 I was able to sharpen the knee plate as suggested. 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 14, 2025 Author Report Posted March 14, 2025 I found some more time! Glued the cover strips onto the front of the thighs. 2 Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 14, 2025 Report Posted March 14, 2025 Any gaps you may have between the lower ridge you could add either ABS paste, sugru or even paintable silicon. Front views Back views 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 23, 2025 Author Report Posted March 23, 2025 Worked on the back of the thighs and only glued one side for now as they seem rather stiff so did not want them pulling apart. Will let these set for 48-72 hours… Obligatory selfie in my shop space! Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 23, 2025 Report Posted March 23, 2025 Anything under pressure while gluing I tend to leave a little longer, 48 to 72 hours is best. You can really squash down the armor and tape around a few times to get cover strips to sit flatter. 2 Quote
JBar[TK] Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 Looking good and keep it up! Yeah for cover strips I play it safe an let dry for two days. If for some reason they need extra reinforcing (like my forearms) I added a second inside strip 1 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 25, 2025 Author Report Posted March 25, 2025 Started work on the ab section and installing the split rivets… Painted them Testors gloss white… I made sure the holes were 20mm apart in the strapping however, not sure the left kidney part will fit now. I held it there and it’s too tight and it overlapped. I may end up leaving these and using snaps with straps here (I hate taking spilt rivets apart!). 2 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 27, 2025 Author Report Posted March 27, 2025 Worked on cod and butt plate. Placed the two snaps in the butt and the one (unpainted) rivet in the cod. 3 Quote
DocDan[TK] Posted March 29, 2025 Author Report Posted March 29, 2025 Hey guys! Looking at some 3D print blasters. Does this one look correct for ESB? Quote

This thread may be of use There are a couple of versions, ANH without hengstler or power cylinders and the Promo version, it is a little different to the ROTJ style which your image appears to be. Modified ANH Promo version (pre ROTJ) And this one with the U channel Quote
