New Attempt at ANH Stunt build

Got home yesterday from vacation and couldnā€™t wait to do something on my armor. I donā€™t think my wife was impressed that I had the e6000 busted out when the suitcases were still in the car. I trimmed the straps with pre installed snaps and glued to the shoulder bells using e6000 and magnets.

I think I sized them properly first however I left some extra in case they prove to be too short and need lengthening.
I had also trimmed the bridges before leaving so started getting those on as well.

Iā€™ll put up some better shots once I have the clamps off. I placed them with the 5th bump at the edge of the chest shoulder edge (if that makes sense) as that seemed to sit the best on the front without encroaching on the back too far.
That will satisfy me enough for now.

Looking good.Ā

Ā

Good suggestion is to wrap thoseĀ magnets in tape, I use painters tape. Less likely to crackĀ or chip. ThatĀ said I don't always do this, as seen in my build threads but for safety I recommend it to others.Ā Ā

Made minimal progress over the last couple of days because of a couple of long work days. I did get the buttons painted on the ab plates. They generally measure out at 11 mm as suggested on the crl.

Do you guys think these look clean enough on the edges? I always second guess myself on the quality of my hand painting and just want to make sure that if I need to make any changes I do it before attaching the plates. Thanks guys and I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Finally had a day off today and kids back in school after vacation so got some work done. First glued on button plates.
5f6bcd9bff9f2a609ac0e8de0675080d.jpg
Next started on belt. I began trimming using the drill hole dimples as an index point. Measured 3/4 inch out from center of hole. fed676255c0cdf812543e1395b367ec2.jpg
And added two more marks 1 1/2 inches from box edge.

Marked 4 mm from the top and bottom of all boxes.

Connected the dots and cut using scissors. Here is rough cut.
79be593e227d51d8b958de168e7850b3.jpg
Sanded down smooth and square then measured in 1/2 inch on each corner. Confirmed 45 angle.

Final product.
d28a8cacb53568546d945c3a9246b4d4.jpg
Drilled 1/8 inch holes on the dimples .76c8ce6b356f1a3cc673f2825d911d0e.jpg

Next I marked the center of the belt by folding in half.
fdaa6907e3c40fd41f5a25d85ceedd53.jpg
Confirmed center by measuring to snaps as well.
f7874932956e68eab03fcf297cd1bc56.jpg
Marked mid point on belt and then centered on middle hole.

Next punched 1/8inch holes with center punch.

Installed tube rivets from back

Then used a dowel and hammer to set the heads

This brings me to one question. When I attach the belt it appears to encroach on the buttons. Itā€™s not covering them but does cover the bottom edge of the plate and comes close to bottom button. Is this ok? Figure if I have to move something now would be the time.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Sometimes despite looking at lots of pictures you just need a little verbal reassurance.
I got the belt buttons cut and glued on today.
da0cf87973e7acc8f61871e9d956a436.jpg
Attached the holster as well. Measured 2 cm over from edge of plate and 1.5 cm up from the bottom edge of belt for first hole.

Measured that it was 12 cm from mid strap to mid strap on holster to mark second hole.
4975b6f6469f63c9389b6cd53662a6cd.jpg
Made holes with punch through belt then marked holes on holster leather straps leaving a 1 inch gap of leather between belt and holster.

Attached Chicago bolts

Drop boxes are going on tomorrow.

Had to take a few shots of kit to date.

Great work on the belt and holster, it`s coming together nicelyĀ :duim: Perhaps you already thought of this, the bridges could use some elastic to stay in place as shown below.

The overall look of your armor is great, however your biceps and forearms (wrist ends) looks a bit big, do you have a lot of room? The goal is to just be able to get your hand through the wrist and you can see how "thin" the biceps are on the Troopers above and that`s the look to strive for - but that`s ultimately up to the builder - looks/comfort/mobility etc and you may already know this but thought it was worth to mention - keep up the good work:salute:

Appreciate the follow up guys. As far as the belt goes I based the cuts of the 45s from the tk-1650 diagram but didnā€™t realize that the alignment to belt was more important. Suppose I canā€™t do much about it now short of a new piece and starting over... good thing itā€™s not a deal breaker
I have the shoulder bridge elastics, just havenā€™t put on yet. Iā€™m pretty sure my biceps need to come down a bit. They are also a bit oblong and not symmetrically round. Iā€™m going to add bicep resizing to my ever growing list of rainy day tweaks. As for the forearms Iā€™m still a little unsure. I have very narrow wrists compared to my proximal forearms. As they stand I can barely get my gloves hand through. I could downsize them but would have to don gloves after arms are on.

If you want to you could cut the ends shorter (closer to the cover buttons) with a steady score and snap making the corners aligne more. Hard to tell on the pic just how much more, might not be worth the effort/risk to cut to much.

And technically the belt caps should be evenly spaced between the boxĀ and end of belt. Trimming the belt would indeed edge you closer to accuracy but would also require you to relocatedĀ the caps. If your up for the challenge have at it, other than that carry onĀ ;)

Looks like 5mm cut in would do the trick The e6000 on the caps hasnā€™t cured yet so somethingā€™s telling me theyā€™re coming off tonight.

Love your drive for accuracyĀ :duim:
