As I'm waiting (patiently/impatiently) for my armour and my icomm I figured I may as well build something to pass the time so I bought this lot, to start with...

---------

Tonight I made a start and built this, took about an hour...

-------

A stereo hearing system, it's pretty loud for a cheap (£11) kit, and I'm sure it'll do just fine when put in my bucket...

I will be moving the mics onto wires when I know what length I need them so do now the mics are in the standard place...

Next will be my main amp, probably tomorrow...

if it works kick it, if it doesn't work kick it till it does...

I've just bought the same. Looking forward to putting it together once I get a spare hour!

I tried a similar setup but couldn't put up with all the extra noise at conventions, great for small troops though

Just make sure you solder all 3 pins on each mic, I didn't do the flat ones at 1st and got terrible buzzing noises...

It has a volume control and an off switch, it'll be just fine lol...

One of the first events that I ever used mine at was a convention - a very, very busy one - and with the volume turned down a bit, it worked wonderfully.  Just like I was walking around with my bucket off and with enhanced hearing.

It was amazing to experience it for the first time in a busy environment.  You just hear everything that's happening around you.

Awesome, I was looking at the same exact unit for the same exact reason. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. One mic at each ear hole.

Yupp that's my plan, just need to wait 4 more weeks for my bucket to arrive lol...

Seems to be a popular little unit...

Nice to hear some positive feedback for it thanks...

The one thing I did notice when I tested it was if you tap it it is a very loud bang so I think when I mount it in my bucket I'll put a thin layer of sponge around the mics and seat them in holes under the ears, hopefully this will cushion them and reduce any excessive noise if the bucket is touched...

This was waiting at the post office for me...

--------

Only just fits in the boot of my car...

------

All I need now is the armour to go in it...

Question is, do I paint it or leave as is?

Leave it as is, but put some funky Imperial markings on it?

Before you do anything with it , make sure your armour will fit comfortably inside . If it won't, you can sell it on , but if you have customised its appearance , you own it forever .

Also, consider the events/areas that you're likely to be trooping. If the potential for theft is higher in the area, an inconspicuous box is less likely to be snagged than one that screams "I'm filled with thousands of dollars worth of stuff!"

Ugh I don't know what to do now...

But if my armour won't fit in it I'm stuffed as I can't get anything bigger to fit in the car, it will fit I'm sure...

As for being stolen I'll be making it lockable and when it's unatended I'll be putting a battery operated ir alarm in it so if it's moved it'll fall over causing the alarm to go off which will arouse people's attention...

Is there a hard point on it, for tethering to something else?

Nah but I'm sure it'll be just fine... others have survived with what they have so I can't see that mine will be singled out as special lol...

That's a 10w app put together, brought the icomm to test it with the app but didn't bring a mic...

DOH!!!

Will test everything together on Saturday when I'm home...
