Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) I'm going to be stripping, painting, and scuffing them. They don't have the front loop (CRL doesn't actually say that's needed) and look slightly different that the ones in the CRL but it seems to fit in what they state. I really like the look of them and I refuse to pay the $120 USD Imperial Boots wants when I can get comparable boots for $90 CDN or less with shipping included that will actually ship quickly. Opinions? ---------- Edited January 31, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Actually looking at ANH reference photos the toes on these ones seem to fit the style that were screen used. I was a little worried they were too flat and pointy. Now I'm wondering about the elastics, they look a tiny bit wide. I wish I had them in hand so I could know for sure the look of them. Edit: Side stitching is too far off, the search continues. May just go with Bass. Edited November 5, 2015 by Knockerbot Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Same site and price, Stitching down the side is right. Anyone? ------------ Edited January 31, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
Smiling Fox[TK] Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 The elastic is way too wide and the toe looks too pointed. Add that to not having the front loop and I would say no. I'm not sure where you saw Imperial Boots for $120 but the website shows them for $90. When it comes down to it, you get what you pay for. I would much prefer to pay more for something that is correct the first time. Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 Shipping to Canada is $30 USD or so.

You're right though, the elastic is putting me off these ones. The loop can always be added so I'm not worried about it not being there. The Bass Amsterdams that a lot of guys here buy and paint are $100 CDN on Amazon Canada and I hear the quality on those is proven to be good.

Thank you for the second set of eyes Quote
Scarlet Trooper[501st] Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 I bought two pairs of the Bass shoes, one for myself and one my husband. They are super comfortable right out of the box, and very nice quality. I got a men's 7 (they are a little big, but that's as small as they go) and he wears a 12. He did say there are a little tight around the toes, he has pretty wide feet. The size I got was almost full price at about $74 US and his were about $50 or $60 US, but with Prime I got free shipping. They are still cheaper than going through TKboots.com, I was told shipping would be around $80 US. I was put on a waiting list about 4 months ago, and still haven't heard anything back. I just decided to buy some black ones online and do what you are wanting to do. Quote
wingnut65[Staff] Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 +2 for the Bass Amsterdam boots. I wore them to work for a couple weeks before painting them and they are very comfortable. Cant' wait to troop in them. For the correct pricing on Amazon, you need to select your shoe size. I have no idea why, but they are priced differently for different sizes. Mine were only $59. Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 Yeah the price on Amazon Canada is around 100 CDN. I tried to order the cheap ones from the US site but it wouldnt let me. There's a site called shoeme I believe that has them for 109 cdn with shipping after a sale discount of 20% so that's the best I think. Quote
wingnut65[Staff] Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 If it were me, for that price of the boot, plus $7-10 for white shoe spray paint, plus white fabric paint for the elastic and then add the time to tape off the shoes before painting, the $120 sounds really good Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 5, 2015 Author Report Posted November 5, 2015 Even if I bought the imperials I'd be painting. Plus that's $120us so its $157 cdn. Quote
=Sv3=[TK] Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 I've got these : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00PI2T0VK/ref=oh_aui_i_sh_in_o1_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Great price, great boots! Quote
cedron[TK] Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 Even if I bought the imperials I'd be painting. Plus that's $120us so its $157 cdn. Why do you have to paint Imperial boots? The white they have is not good? Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 9, 2015 Author Report Posted November 9, 2015 The white they have is perfect but I want the black boot painted white look like in ANH. Quote
Mcott65[TK] Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) Have you searched equestrian sites in canada jodhpur boots are often cheaper than Chelsea boots. ----------- Edited January 31, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 9, 2015 Author Report Posted November 9, 2015 Thank you, I have not looked for jodhpur I'll widen my search 1 Quote

ComradeDave[TK] Posted November 27, 2015 Report Posted November 27, 2015 Go for the Bass Boots man. I Still need to paint mine but they are comfy Quote
Knockerbot[501st] Posted November 27, 2015 Author Report Posted November 27, 2015 Yeah I think I will. I've seen them painted they look nice. Plus that site you recommended has sales for any reason. "Windy Wednesday! 30% off!" Lol Quote
